The perfect pack for hunting coues.
HuntHarder replied to COA's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
It's hard to show the bags capability in pics unless I mount each one on the frame and stuff them. Look at kifaru.net and this is shown pretty good. They also have lots of YouTube videos. Pm me your # and I can text you some photos, they just won't show the bags as well as Kifaru's site does. -
I prefer the open style vs the completely enclosed cases. I think they are much easier to get out of the case if they are open on the sides. I have used the marsupial since it was released and I like it best out of the ones I have tried. (Kuiu, Sitka, AGC, and FHF) I think they all have their pros and cons, it just really comes down to what your preferences are.

The perfect pack for hunting coues.
HuntHarder replied to COA's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I use Kifaru and I have different bags that attach to the frame based on what my hunt will be. For a 3 day hunt, I use either the nomad or the 22mag. For longer hunts I would attach the DT2. Check them out, they are expensive, but well worth it with the lifetime warranty and made in the usa, not to mention the versatility of switching bags pretty quickly -
Do yourself a favor and order the Marsupial bino pack. It is the best one I have used so far and is not huge on your chest. Check out their website, but I think size large probably.

Yeah, the 35x12.50r18 are load range f which are 12 ply. The 35x12.50r17 are load range e and 10 ply. I'm gonna use discount tire because I have a credit there and also almost 300$ in rebates right now for wheels and tires labor day sale.

I am thinking about getting some Nitto Ridge grapplers and I figured I would ask if anyone has tried them out yet. Let me know your thoughts if you have.
-
Thanks guys, I too was torn between toyo rts and ridge grapplers. I had great luck with Goodyear duratracs on my last 1/2 ton, but my 3/4 ton ate them up. I've had 3 tread separations under 30k miles. I'll report back after hunting season with a report on the ridge grapplers.

I also use Kifaru. I have a nomad, DT2 and 22mag bags to choose from on a 26" composite stays frame. Super comfortable and handles weight with ease. -

Remington 7mm Rem mag long range for sale
HuntHarder replied to dcshorthairs's topic in The Campfire
Good deal here, nice looking rig. Were you able to get the stink of that badger off of the rifle? Those suckers are as smelly as they come. -
I have taken 2 coues with berger 185 VLD's. One was 540 yards and the other was 900 yards. My muzzle velocity is 2850 and so far the results have been pretty good. The one at 540 was shot in his bed and did not get up. I found 3 or 4 bullet fragments in opposite side hide and had the majority of the bullet exit. The one at 900 yards, the shot was about 4" back of where I intended to shoot and it also expanded and had similar results but not quite as much internal trauma. I have full confidence in them, but this year I will be trying some eld-x in a different caliber because my gun loves these things.

How many lanes and how far can you shoot at your new range?

2015 Ram 2500 tires, rims, lugnuts, caps $100
HuntHarder replied to Couzer's topic in Classified Ads
LOL. The recall? I have had now 4 on my 2014 ram 2500. I think they just pump them out and worry about problems later. -
MT CAT nailed in saying this hunt is unique. Russ does the best he can with what he is dealt. I honestly think Russ is trying to knock down as many buffalo as he can, paying or not paying. Those of you who think he should not put a paying client on a better lick are very naive in life. He is between a rock and a hard place on this hunt but seems to still keep killing buffalo. If he only helps his paying clients, their success and everyone's success will go down. So he is inclined to help everyone and hope that guy's will appreciate that and get on board with his game plan. Going Rogue on this hunt is not the answer to killing a buffalo. I am sure it can be done, but it will the exception, not the rule. I think if everyone goes into this hunt knowing it is a unique hunt, everyone will be less inclined to be let down. In all the stories I have heard regarding Russ, more are positive than negative. Until the management of the herd changes, the hunt will continue to be challenging with it's own set of special circumstances.
