  1. Just got off the phone with GF. My credit card had to be cancelled today. I tried to call and update I know the window is closed he said I was out of luck but made it sound like they are still hitting CC. So looks like I just get a bonus point. I should have just let them charge stuff for a couple of more days. Got to love dead beat thieves. The wife will have 23 points and 13 for me.

  2. I believe the sheep clinic is worth going to if possible. It is not a fundraiser like some of the other things you go to. They will probably ask you to become a member which unless something has changed means they will give you a plaque with your name, unit and score if you harvest. Their membership is not expensive and I believe it is a small price to pay for a group of people who have dedicated a whole bunch of their time trying to help put sheep on the mountains so you can harvest a once in a lifetime animal. At the clinic you will get information about hunting sheep from people who have done it for years. Game and Fish officers from your units will be there so you can talk to them. You will most likely get to meet the other tag holders if your unit has multiple tags and get a feeling for how your hunt might go as far as competition. Another reason to go is to see the mounts from the previous year that are brought in for the recognition dinner. They will all have the scores and unit posted with them as well. I try to go most years to look at the mounts. There usually is a recognition dinner for those who harvested the year before during which they get their plaque if they are a member. Good luck to you lucky tag holders, enjoy the ride! Hopefully you will get to put your hands on a magnificent animal that very few people will have the opportunity to hunt.

  3. We had this same problem a couple years back. We found some humor in it. My wife went to the store and picked up some steaks, we grilled them for dinner. My middle daughter at the time was probably 15 years old. We started eating, I looked across the table she was probably three bites into it with a funny look on her face. I asked her what a matter she said what is this, I said a steak she said I know that  from what. An Elk,Deer,Antelope we have not had Moose for ever. My wife and I looked at her and said a cow she said it doesn’t taste like Elk we laughed and said a beef cow.  Lance good luck on the Goat hunts.

  4. Do the physical hunts while you're young and in shape. Save the hunts that interest you that aren't as physical for later in life. If you really want the hunts to happen make them a priority.

    1-Mountain Goat

    2-Dall Sheep/Stone Sheep

3-Elk/Mule Deer backpack or horse trip into one of the big wilderness areas

  5. I ride mountain bikes all the time to stay in shape for hunting. Last weekend we rode from Mayer to Black Canyon City on the Black Canyon trail. Ran into two rattle snakes that were extremely mad, one gila monster and one king snake. I often wonder how many I ride by that I never see or hear. I spend 75% of the time looking for snakes and 25% watching the trail. Friday morning at South Mountain while riding was the first one I saw this year that was not mad.

  6. Thanks everyone for getting back to me. The weather cleared up late this afternoon so I decided to go out and start breaking it in. Returned home, grilled some brats and found some great information, thank you. Lancetkenyon, the micro bastard was one of the breaks I was thinking about since this will only be used as a backpack rifle. It looked like you sent me a pm but if you did it did not go through. Jim
