AZGFD DOES IT AGAIN
208muley replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
So if a kalifornian buys a ranch that is deeded 40ac and leases 100,000ac of some sort of public land ,and only way to access it is a road thru the 40. Now a long hike will get you into this country. Now let's say this landowner doesn't like the government and doesn't like hunters either so when the dept asks to drive thru to check hunters he knows are back there and is refused access, this ranch goes on the chopping block to get kicked out of the "unit". The landowner wins in all directions and hunters, as usual, lose as now there is 100,040 acres that we cannot hunt. If I read what was written this is possible. Am I wrong???? -
Just want to say on this forum for those that haven't heard...... RIP and Godspeed to outfitter Marvin James who was killed about two weeks ago. For those that want more info you can search the flagstaff newspaper.

Vaquero outfitters charged with chasing antelope
208muley replied to Explorer's topic in Antelope Hunting
I dont have a dog in this but he is not guilty as of now. See how this plays out and if he is found guilty then he should get the max penalty as this would be strike two. But he is innocent till PROVEN guilty. -
Lark, come on amigo.........

I would love to see all these guys on both sides of ANY legal/ethical that has been on this site lately sit it the same room and talk the way they do on here, face to face. I bet the name calling would stop! No matter what side of the fence you are on once you start name calling and attacking your arguement loses all credibility as you have shown that you no longer have facts and you are arguing based on emotion instead of facts. Keep it civil guys. I have noticed most of the name calling seems to come mostly from the anything goes crowd which tends to be the guys under 30. This isn't a 100% accurate of course but that seems to be the trend. This used to be a really good site and it still is but it is more and more turning to the likes of monstermuleys hunt hard etc. disagreements are good and can be very productive if its handled correctly and like an adult. On this topic, I don't use radios or cameras. I kill plenty of trophy animals with just time and knowledge of the animal. If you need to use whatever is LEGAL to take animals that your thing and that's fine but to call names defending your position says a bunch. Good luck and good hunting guys.

Last pic is amazing! Congrats on the cat

That's how I got my lab to be a shed hunter!! Have him retrieve it then start hiding it. Turn it into a game give praise and it shouldn't take long. My dog was awesome at it!!!

Lark, I agree with everything you just said. I am hoping that you are wrong with the last sentence but I'm afraid you may be right! There are so many factors that contribute to declining mule deer numbers, some we can try and help or control to a point and some is just mother nature. I'm just hoping we make smart moves and mother nature smiles at the same time. The deer sure could use some help in many areas of the state.

Can't be a full list maybe?? . There is a name of a guide and outfitter that posts on this site that isn't on there and he walks way inside the law so I am confident he has a license. -
Units south of the ditch are nothing like they used to be. Yes some giants come out of any unit year after year but it is not even close to 20 years ago. I have seen pile of pictures of great deer killed by my dad and his friends from 27 and 10 that most people would say came from the kiabab or strip! Were they great hunters? Nope. They only had one set of binos between 7 of them. They drove and just walked around. No 15s, 1000 yd guns, quads, trail cams, chute planes, entourages, scent loc, guides, camo, etc. they also did it on what used to be just a 4 day hunt at the end of oct! ( remember that hunt, we need to bring it back i think) There were a lot more tags but they never, and to this day, have never said the woods felt crowded cause there was just a lot of deer everywhere. My .02

So my wife has a turkey tag for this spring and this will be her first hunt for thunder chickens. If we are successful I am thinking we may do a lifesize strutting bird as all I have are shields of the birds I've taken. I have a ton of points for goulds at that will be a lifesize strut as well. Who would you recommend? Post pics if you could and a close up of the head would be great. Thanks, Eric

Winchester Extreme 264 / Kimber Ascent 270
208muley replied to wilderness1's topic in Classified Ads
Saving up to get a 280ai?????? That's a deal on the 270! They shoot pretty decent! Lol -
I recently went out to a spot off of new river road between i17 and the lake. Never been there before. Spot I found was completely trashed out!!! Disgusting!!! I wonder if they would take info on this location and send some people that way along with myself to go clean this place up??
-
Good for the guy that bought the tag and good for wildlife in az!!!!!! I am sure that the reason the price went that high is cause there is a true beast out there and more than one camp knows about it! Anyone know Who bought it?
-
Did you have any luck finding these boots? I also have narrow heels and slip like crazy in most mountaineering boots. Lowa tibets seem to be ok but I want to check out crispi Nevada gtx befor I buy.
-
Super nice deer! Congrats. To have a buck like that show up where you got him is really sweet! I have hunted that spot for a long time and never seen anything close! 20 miles east yep... 15 miles north yep... But not there! Congrats on a great buck!!!
-
Great story! Hunting with your daughter is a cool feeling. When my little 10 yr old girl killed her first buck, I lost it! I've been on kills of giant bucks/ bulls and nothing shook me up like that little 4x3 did when my kid put him on the ground! congrats to both of you.

I put mine in a compression sack it gets to the size of a football maybe a little bigger. I would take a pic but a buddy is borrowing it right now. If you are a stomach sleeper or you move around a lot get the wide or even extra wide. I am 5'10 and 195 and the regular/wide works for me. I really like the flexibility a quilt has. No zippers, you can vent the bottom or cinch it up. I have a 20* bag and use it during early season as just a blanket. The xtherm pad is the secret to happiness it has an r value of 5.9 I think. Keeps you toasty and literally feels like sleeping on a warming pad!
-
I assume you know he works for NBC and not FOX. He should be Fired. But it won't happen. Nothing will come of it. NBC is so liberal that lying is almost accepted at this point and who needs integrity anyways.
-
This^^^^^^^^ EE quilts are great! Super light and the ratings are very close. Get an xtherm pad and you are good to go! Check out rokslide.com for info on these. There are a bunch of hardcore guys that hunt in way nastier conditions than we have here and they are popular with them. I love mine. Good luck with your search.

That's what I did on my pack trip for pigs this year! 30 min after he was dead he was boned out . It was cool the day I killed and the meat was cool to the touch as I was bagging it. Never gutted it just hung it skinned it de-boned it done! Did it to save on weight to walk the five nasty miles back to the truck but no matter where I kill one from now on, if sunlight permits, I will do this every time. Easy peezy. Gotta bring that foot out but nothing else unedible.

Thumb-trigger Release Aids for Hunting
208muley replied to forepaw's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I switched to the carter insatiable 2 and never looked back. Many positives not many negatives. Love being able to clip it on the string and still have my right hand free for whatever I need without the wrist release hitting everything. Easier for back tension, at least for me anyways. Pricey but worth it. -
Elk bring out the worst in some people some times. Hunted it a bunch look at onion mtn, ash creek, pine flat. All are tough areas to hunt but it sounds like you want it that way. I always see elk in these spots when I go in there and a cow shouldn't be a problem. Scout a bunch and you will do fine.
