I feel like I gotta throw out a little bit of friendly banter here…. I like the model 12 a lot, I own one. Also like the mossbergs…. But I’m absolutely a HUGE 870 fan. I’ve got a bunch of ‘em. My 1966 wingmaster is 100% the best,smoothest, most reliable pump shotgun I’ve ever shot. The one dig I have against 870s is I ran into a couple not so great ones in the 2000s, I think they went through a rough period with quality then though…. But the older ones are the best! good luck finding what you’re lookin for man! Makes me want to buy another model 12…

I have a ruger American predator , it shoots amazing. I did put a stock on it, the original was garbage and I had to be careful to not flex the stock against the barrel just with it sitting on a bipod. I’m sure stiffening it up like these guys are doing would work great too

Hey guys, I was lucky enough to draw a nm 27 muzzleloader mule deer hunt, and I have a couple questions about access in the unit. I’m getting a plan together to go start scouting and just wanted to avoid wasting time by avoiding areas and roads thatre shut down or locked gates etc… anybody hunted there the last couple years that’ll let me pick their brain? I hunted coues there a couple years back but am starting over in a new area… never saw a muley where we were. thanks!

I’m your size and shoot 31”. Best best is to draw bows and find out,you definitely want it to be right. I shot 30” for several years and when I actually bought one that fit me it was so much more comfortable and my anchor point much more consistent

Just my opinion…. But the pioneer is WAY better than a rzr if versatility is what you’re looking for. Can go anywhere a rzr can go, just a little slower and maybe not quite as smooth. But for any kind of hauling, the bed of the pioneer is a HUGE difference. Plus, seats 5. I put a bed extender on mine, and with the back seats up it’s still holds more in the bed then a rzr style sxs

I have a pioneer 1000 and absolutely love it. The general would be my other top suggestion for what you’re after. The pioneer isn’t nearly as fast as some of the others though, but quick enough for me

Got hit for either 2 deer tags or 3 crane tags. So that’s cool. Call me crazy but I almost hope it’s crane, I have a nm deer hunt this year…plus archery here

There’s gotta be more to come I hope… several people I’ve talked to haven’t drawn higher odds hunts, including myself. In fact I haven’t heard from anyone who’s drawn a tag yet

We just got back from 27 and it was rough. Had one gobble for like 5 minutes then shut down, other then that didn’t hear a thing in 4 full days. Saw maybe 15 hens while hiking around in those 4 days. Maybe they were talking when we were fishing mid day 🤔
