  1. I don't really see in that press release where NRA states that it supports the veto. Regardless, they didn't lift a finger to stop I-594 in Washington, and now even lending a rifle to a friend can land you in jail if you don't conduct a background check. Thanks for nothing NRA. My money stays with GOA and and AzCDL.
  2. It only "ties" us to preventing an initiative that would enable universal background checks. No other state soverignty would be handed over. A background check initiative would likely be unsuccessful in a presidential election year but the voter turnout is often a drastically different picture in an off year where the Aacorn groups and unions have their comparatively better organization that conservative movements. We'll roll the dice and I see, I guess. Yes, mainly through excellent organization and pressure on the legislature through influential organizations like AzCDL. and that's why we're such a target for Bloomberg and his cronies. They'd love nothing more than to stab at the crown jewel of pro gun states. Also with our constitution the only way to override a successful ballot initiative would be a lawsuit. the legislature can't go back and override it after the fact. the Second Amendment Foundation has graciously funded this attempt in Washington whilst NRA is nowhere to be found.
  3. Can anyone help me out where I should access the wilderness? I've hiked to Romero Pools before and once read that the sheep frequent the area. That's access off Oracle and through the state park. However, there's also a way to access off of Ina. Does anyone know which is the better place to access? I know I'll have to do some hiking but I'd rather keep the number of ridges I have to hike over to a minimum, if possible haha. Thanks
  4. You can't really have it both ways. Either you want a limited federal government or you're willing to accept a runaway political leviathan because it occasionally gives you niceties in life. I appreciate having large swaths of public land to hunt for free but the answer isn't to keep it in the hands of the feds, its to exert pressure on our state legislature to keep the lands public, or sell them off with permanent public easement. As a courageous conservative, I'm not about to abandon my principles just because the current status quo happens to be a more convenient arrangement for me.
  5. Looking to rent one or two cabins in the WMs sometime in June or July.Early August before school starts again is fine too I guess. Preferably on a lake or something nice. Probably two cabins as there are two large families. Willing to spend a decent amount for privacy and avoid a busy Rec area with foul mouthed college students as are most campgrounds. Just a four day weekend. Any input? Thanks.

    Optics?????

I've had this same scope for a decade now and I love it. Different EP: I have to swtich between a 30x fixed and a 75x fixed. I've also looked through Swaro in the field and wouldn't trade my Nikon ED for one if you begged me!

Sounds like the collimation was out.

    Found your cooler

Honestly I was afraid there'd be a severed head inside or something.

    Found your cooler

I put this in lost and found but I wanted to bump it here. If you dropped your cooler in Tucson on the way out to camping, give me a description and what was inside. I'll try to get it back to you ASAP.
  14. Looks like you were headed out camping/hunting and it fell off the bed of your truck/cargo tray, etc. Please send me a description of it and the contents and I'll get with you ASAP.
  15. +1 votes for Nikon and Zen Ray. I don't like Vortex. Lots of color fringing and green hue around the edge of the glass. Boo.

    Help with Binoc purchase

That likely could be. They looked like the new body style but didn't have "HD" or anything marked on them other than Swaro's name. Now I'm curious to see the HD version. However, having sampled a plethora of european glass in hunting conditions, I've yet to identify any optical imperfection in the EDG. Again, beyond a certain quality level its about what the individual user prefers from a plethora of factors.

    Help with Binoc purchase

If you have eye strain, particularly after looking for a long time, its because the binoculars are out of collimation. This can be the case in cheap and cheaply made binoculars, but can also happen to the best glass on earth after some use and abuse. Nikon has great customer service and would likely adjust them for free. I personally moved up from Nikon Monarch's which were good, but still a step down from the EDG. There are a LOT of things that go into an expensive pair of binoculars to make them that way, and it all adds up to an expensive product int he end. You generally get what you pay for. Beyond a certain point its usually a matter of personal preference: ergonomics, color rendition, etc. But I can't deny what I saw: far, far more lateral color fringing (chromatic aberration) with the Swaro than I had with my Nikon. Not that this is the sole determinant for quality glass, but it annoys the heck out of me. Just my $0.02.
  19. Swaro is overrated IMHO. I recently got to look through some and my Nikon EDG are much, much better.

    Help with Binoc purchase

I have Nikon EDG and they are BETTER than Swaro SLCs. Sorry to burst any bubbles, but I've looked at them compared in the field and it was no contest. Swaros seem to hold their value the best, so its harder to find a deal on them. Leica Geovids are also great.

    Elk from the 2015 season

Yep, its actually an ultrawide lens, used to elongate/distort perspective. No, no "photoshopping" required.

    Tundra versus bull elk (pics)

Its not that hard to get a salvage tag. You call and talk with someone almost instantly. For a nice bull elk like this you can probably expect to need to remain on scene for a gamie to look things over and say "yeah, he dead" and issue you a tag, or they may just give you a number over the telephone in case you get pulled over by an other agency to account for the useable portions of the animal sticking out of your vehicle until a tag can be mailed to you at home.
