Thought I'd give an update. My son was not able to fill his cow tag but it wasn't for a lack of trying. With pointers/tips from many members and locals we were able to locate some elk but unfortunately they were all bulls. And one really nice 320-330 6x6, if he had a bull tag that would have been one really dead bull. I want to thank all those who gave pointers/tips by this thread or pm's. Thanks guys. It's been a fun experience for both him and I. Now to draw another tag.

Fingered since I seen a few threads about others kids coues from last year I would post some pics of my sons coues buck. He shot it at about 70 yds with his .243 shooting 80 grain barnes TTSX's. This next pic I tried to get a profile but ended up getting my buck mostly in the pic. The day he got it.

Hoghtr almost same here. Biggest coues I seen was 33, around 130's Biggest Muley I seen in 33 was 240's

Agree with lark. Don't understand the bull barrel concept on a deer/elk hunting rifle either. Skinny's shoot well too, just ask my titanium .308 Now if I was plunked down in one spot shooting varmints or such then I could like the fatties.
