Advice on unit 29 Nov. 7 coues hunt
Titanium700 replied to Norcy's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I'm in 29 as we speak, posting from my camp. I know of an area that holds 4 shooter bucks right now, my son took one of the other shooters yesterday morning. I'm not telling where they are either because we have 2 other hunters in camp and they are hoping to put their tags on any one of the others. In this unit you need to scout!!! And the funny thing is most of the hunters we have seen from camp are road hunters....ha ha ha good luck with that. Next week I'll post some pics of my sons buck probably go between 80-90" -
Advice For Upcoming Unit 33 Mule Deer Hunt. More Like What Would You Do
Titanium700 replied to CouesHunterAZ's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Went out for about an hour last night and spotted up a fork horn pretty close to saddlebrook. -
I like Leupold Mark 4's in that price range.

33 is an awesome unit IF you get away from the roads but back in 99 I shot and lost a monster coues up by oracle. He was a bonafied 130" 5x5, I was using those stupid Puckett bloodtrailer broadheads...my arrow blew through him and was laying on the ground where he was standing........with the remains of a broadhead on it. We were able to track him for about 500 yds until he found some snow and you could tell he was eating it, after that his blood stopped and we lost him, went back for several days afterward and could not locate the carcass. I still get sick thinking about it it was a 25 yd broadside shot and he stumbled and fell many times before he went out of sight.

I anneal often, I do it with my fingers....once it gets too hot I let it go. I have to anneal my .243AI brass often. -

Titanium700 replied to varnco's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You can jump the fences, and leave the gates as they are, if they are open, leave them open if they are closed leave them closed. -
Harris with the swivel so I can keep my rifle level.

Are 15X's that much of an advantage
Titanium700 replied to joeinaz0's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Without my 15 power swaro's I could never have helped my son identify his 2" spike buck he shot at 400 yds among 4 other does last year. -
ML HELP NEEDED PLEASE
Titanium700 replied to Flatlander's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
That's a confidence booster right there. Good luck on your hunt. -
No, illinois is a draw state for nonresidents, be it archery, shotgun or muzzleloader. Usually the archery draw is a guaranteed tag, leftovers are otc until gone. shotgun and muzzleloader is a draw for specific county's and depending on the county could be easy to draw or next to impossible. Either way its a great state to hunt and giants fall every year in public land. I have a 200" buck on video I took back in '08 on public land and seen him 4 times from my treestand but could not close the deal. also I saw a 240+" on a different piece of public land but he was elusive and never seen him again. ......I need to go back but my son keeps drawing coues tags.. lol

My avatar bull is a 3B representative. But it was my second choice unit at the time. id hunt that unit again in a heartbeat.

ML HELP NEEDED PLEASE
Titanium700 replied to Flatlander's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I suspected a loose scope base as well, when I install all of mine I use loctite, never had one come loose. the other thought was plastic buildup from the sabots, I had a buddy that his gun shot great the previous sesson but during the summer he went and put a few hundred rounds through it all the while complaining it was shooting worse and worse . he cleaned it.....or thought he did and it still shot like crap, that it when we discovered plastic buildup in the rifling near the muzzle, so we scoured it out with a stiff brush and gun cleaning solvent and pulled lots of plastic out. that fixed his problem. but to me I feel confident your front base was your issue, good luck. -
tree-stand harness recommendation

I use the tree spider micro harness. I love it, simple to use and lightweight. -
Don't skimp on putting thousands of dollars worth on valuables on a few hundred dollar safe. Two words.... "Fort Knox" Never look back or regret.

My son drew a coues tag with my fil, I put him in for a youth hunt last year for his first time and he got drawn, this year he put in with my fil and they both drew....that lucky kid is 2 for 2, me I'm like 1 for 16 or 17 or something like that. Lol Hope he tags like he did last year. Woohoo, I'm going coues hunting.....er....glassing.

New youth hunter - questions
Titanium700 replied to PSEHunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Last year my son drew that same tag, I called AZGFD and asked them about your question #1, they said it was ok for me to carry as long as HE makes the shot. I would suggest carrying on an empty chamber just in case someone wants to give you a hard time. We always carry on an empty chamber anyway. As far as your #2 question, he ended up shooting his buck at 400 yds on the nose and was using 80 grain Barnes TTSX's. I'd have no issue with a 80 grain as long as it was of good construction. #3, your choice...we ended up doing the boneless method. Good luck on your hunt, it will be fun. -
That plane crash hits pretty close to home for me and my family as our family knows the family of the two young men, and quite possibly one of the young women, which is from Canada. the 4th young woman we dont know but she was visiting from germany, how sad for their family's but they are in a much better place. just praying for their families right now.

Hey, the could always call me. I always put my draws on a credit card with a $4500 limit. It's at $0 now......just saying. You hear that AZGFD? Lol how bout that sheep tag.
