All F&G cares about is money. They don't care about the animals at all. Things will change when they see it hitting their pockets. Every unit has hunts to the max, good luck finding mature animals in any unit, it's getting tougher each year. I feel horrible for my kids and their kids. Seeing what my dad and his dad had for hunting opportunity and quality in the past compared to now is rough. Add 20 more years from now and you will be lucky to shoot anything with antlers. Have you hunted deer in western NM? Thats what AZ is going to. Hunt 12 days to maybe see a dink. I spent some time in the 37's this archery hunt. I've never seen that many people there in January. There is 5x the amount of hunters there was just 2-3 years ago. We are headed in a bad direction. Time for a draw across the board, cut these deer a break, they need it.

29 5b rifle antelope tags, up 4. Goodbye quality antelope.
-
Awesome! We are hoping to do the same. We have the youth tag in a few weeks.
-
I'm not sure the draw is done. I have 4 of us in for very easy tags to draw. No hits.
-
It has to go to a child or grandchild of the tag holder . Has to be a minor at the time of transfer.

Anyone know if this is a free range hunt? This looks like a different area than the regular Kaibab/Grand Canyon hunt, wildlife area only. I've heard they are in a fence is that true? I'm referring to the Oct 11-15 hunt 7502 fall hunt.

We have been on elk for the first 3 days, not a single bugle. It's warm, theres a lot of pressure and the rut is late. We are seeing some bulls pushing cows, some bulls with bulls and some cow groups with no bull yet. Kind of weird for this time of year. Let's hope things improve.

The lower main range is in good shape, we haven't checked the 3D in a while.

Champ and Crossbow Permit Proposed Changes
CouesFanatic replied to cactusjack's topic in The Campfire
1. The provider type doesn't help with anything until they change the definition of what is required to get a crossbow permit. Read the rules, a failed muscle test is the minimum bar. This needs changed IMO. 2. Not being able to use a bipod or tripod? How is a person with an injury or disability supposed to hold a heavy crossbow accurately? Isn't that the point of the permit to allow them more options because of the injury? Seems counter intuitive. 3. The G & F is so clueless I don't even think they see the real problem here, which is a loose definition allowing abuse of the system. They are throwing random solutions that don't fix the problem. Here is the form: https://azgfd-portal-wordpress-pantheon.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/archive/Form-2738-A-Crossbow-Permit-Ap-010423.pdf Here is the items qualifying someone for approval: An amputation involving body extremities required for stable function to use conventional archery equipment; A spinal cord injury resulting in a disability to the lower extremities, leaving the applicant nonambulatory; A wheelchair restriction; A neuromuscular condition that prevents the applicant from drawing and holding a bow; A failed functional draw test that equals 30 pounds of resistance and involves holding it for four seconds. The functional draw test may not be used to determine eligibility for the permit when it is not associated with a disability. A failed manual muscle test involving the grading of shoulder and elbow flexion and extension or an impaired range-of-motion test involving the shoulder or elbow; or A combination of comparable physical disabilities resulting in the applicant’s inability to draw and hold a bow. -
I thought it was weird for a 17 and 18 year old to be on Mt Ord camping alone. It's gotta be beef someone they know or they bumped into something bad. Seems like there is more to the story. Might be a weird thing like this one on Reddington Road last year. Also super freaky. Guy was helping someone in the middle of the night with a tire, they shot him and took his truck : https://copperarea.com/arrests-made-in-paul-clifford-homicide/

We have the 23 non burro youth either coues or mule deer. If anyone wants to compare notes after some scouting or hunting.

Thanks for the update. Hope we get some rain this weekend.

Screaming deal. If I didn't already have several I'd be all over this

Should have started a week ago. I cant tell you how many out of control campfires I saw last weekend.

I have Ionic lithiums in the bass boat. They have been awesome. Seems like a lot of guys are buying the brand Li Time for the cheaper end of lithiums. I would check those out.

pm'd. Trucks are fine. Not many areas that would require a side by side. Plenty of camping areas around.

Did anyone draw a tag? NM results up!

I would take a hard look at a Toyota Highlander or Grand Highlander.

I'm glad. There is a lot of locked land that the public should have access to. Corner crossing should be legal nation wide.

If they back out let me know. I'm interested.
