Members Slayin' bucks on opening day!!!!!
Snapshot replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Sounds like alot of good bucks going down on opening weekend. I am very impressed with all the pictures of the great bucks so far, I hope the October hunt shines on me this year -
last year & this year-- sweet buck-- how big?
Snapshot replied to sammacgan's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I agree with everyone else, 105"...ish. -
I got to fondle that beautiful piece of work (the Chupacabra) at the party and it looks pretty lethal. I hear them .257 weatherby rounds are smoking fast

As of Wednsday, there are still permits left, so I imagine they are waiting to get rid of them. As far as refunds????, they should be soon.

Man, another huge buck on opening day. Thats an awesome, beautiful buck! But since electronics were used I will have to inform the ethics committee . Just kiddin, way to go. With all these great bucks being harvested, the rest of us have our work cut out to try`and win the big buck contest

Nothing wrong with flexing the ego a little , I will order a copy for sure.

Did she enter the CWT buck contest, that buck will surely be a front runner. Wow, what a buck!

Great accomplishment with a bow. Nice pic!

Might have to rename it to "El Venadocabra"

That is one fine looking buck, and on opening morning to boot!. But I bet it is a good kind of being tired?

Like someone else mentioned in another post, that big red "S" on my chest has faded , I don't hunt the desert in August, too dang hot for me, but my hat is off to those of you that chase those little buggers in this heat. Best of luck. I am headed up to the high country over labor day to chase bear and turkey.

2009 Spring Hunting Regulations Available online

Thanks for the heads up! -
Sorry to hear about your friend! Best wishes to the family. The V.P of FICO pecan farms just died in a small plane crash in the Santa Rita's in the area that we did the quad ride on before the CWT party. He was flying back from Bowie.

Precautions in southern units
Snapshot replied to NativeRat's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The main concern, besides personal safety, is keeping your camp secure. It is not just illegals in the southern units that will ransack a camp. The illegals mostly want food or water. I have heard that some people will leave some water and food outside for them, maybe that keeps them from entering a tent or...?. Keep any valuables locked in your vehicle. If you see anyone carrying burlap or large packs, don't even let them see you. Just contact the border patrol and give them GPS location if possible. -
Grong, Please don't take offense to the "army of guides" comment. It was not directed towards you or any of the other respected guides or outfitters. The comment was based on what we have seen with some outfits, one of which is in AZ and the other famous one is based in Utah/Nevada who does guide high dollar clients with the army of guides and radio technique. If the client or outfitter chooses to hunt that way that is their business, the client is paying big money and if they want the red carpet rolled out to within shooting range of that trophy buck or bull so be it. Even if I was a millionaire, I would never hunt that way, but that is just me, I like things one on one. Everyone draws there own line in the sand as to what hunting methods are exceptable or not. The point being, that with the advancement of technology in hunting aids and a society of hunters looking for instant gratification without the hard work and or sacrifice that was used in years past to harvest an animal, I guess it is inevitable progress. I remember the day that all I carried was a canteen, a knife, and maybe a sandwhich. Now my day pack is loaded with so much crap that my shoulders hurt at the end of the day. I have been a guide and I have been guided(once), and I have seen things from both sides of the fence.

Because of a hand injury I was not going to bowhunt, but the hand is getting a little better. However, since I drew a tag I have been waiting to get for 5 years, I don't want to bowhunt and be tempted to shoot one and forfeit my rifle tag . I am going up over labor day and will have a bear, lion, turkey tag in pocket.

lonely pop-trailers on National Forest land
Snapshot replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
It does not make a difference to me. What someone does with their trailer/tent is their business and not mine. -
cruisin, cruisin, cruisin on the river
Snapshot replied to SunDevil's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Great pics. Sounds like a great time, and a nice river to canoe on. -

No matter how bad I wanted a spot, I would never leave my trailer sitting around because of all the thieves and vandals that seem so numerous these days. -

What I have seen in the past is guys bring their trailers and set them up early to "stake their claim" to spots they like. some even do it weeks ahead of time, especially in areas of limited camp spots or access. I think you are allowed to camp for 14 days before you have to move, but I am not sure if it applies to unattended campers, you would think it would? I wonder what stance the FS takes on this?
