    30-06 Coues Load?

I don't reload much anymore, but I use remington premium ammo with 150 grain accutip for deer. It is one of the most accurate loads I have found for my rifle in 30-06, but they are a little more expensive.
  3. Man, am I envious. That sounds like a blast. Besides hunting, flyfishing is a close second favorite. Great Pics and story. Thanks for sharing. How are the bugs, I here they get pretty bad in June but are gone byt August.
  4. I am helping out with an article for an up and coming hunting magazine and we are putting together an article on early season archery deer hunting. This article will be an overview of archery deer hunting in Arizona, the new regulation changes and information obtained from G&F, and some how too tips and tactics from those of us that bowhunt. For those of you hunt the early season , I am looking to get your input on the following: What is your favorite hunting tactic during the early season. Stand hunting, water holes, spot and stalk, etc, and why you use them? What elevations are you typically hunting this time of year. Mule deer or whitetail? What is the average time you spend hunting in the morning and evening relevant to temperature? What gives you your best advantage and overall success to your hunt. Any opinion you may have on the changing archery hunt structures. Any information that you would like to share would be appreciated! P.S - No unit specific info or hot spot locations required

    Archery season

It will be awhile before I heal enough to be able to hold the bow, and shoot well enough to hunt, maybe by the late archery hunt? I was hoping to chase bears in the early season, but will have to wait until October.

    Vortex 15x's comments anyone?

I was thinking of buying the same pair. But after what I have heard and some of the problems with their original 15.x, I am very leary. B&H Photo out of New York has Zeiss 15 x 45 Conquests for $699.95
  10. I am buying my first trail cam, and theft has always been a big concern, even though the places I will put it are secluded, you just never know if someone will stumble across your cam at some point. Maybe they will come out with units tha have lojack or GPS tracking devices, even though that would get pricey.

    Outdoor fears Part 2

All joking aside, my biggest fear and concern is the whacko's. The southern units 29-36's are getting pretty bad in alot of ways as far as personal safety. I do not put in for these units except as 3-5 choices, my favorite is along way from here and very remote and the only thing I have to worry about up there is the occasional "slob hunter". But as far as I am away from the roads I very rarely ever even see anyone. I like solitude. But in the units and areas that are closer to civilization the worse things are going to be, especially in times of economic hardship, where some people who are already mentally or financially unstable (immigrant's and smugglers included) that will do crazy things.
  12. The Tucson CWT get together was a great success. We had about 15 members that made it out, and it was a real pleasure to meet such a great bunch of people. Thanks to everyone for coming to the party. We had 5 members ( firstcoueswas80, Scottyboy, Scoutm, nedflanders, Snapshot) on the quad ride and did a 30 mile round trip ride into the northern portion of 34A. nedfalnders used his big "15's" to promptly glass up some deer at one of our stopping points. We did get wet on the first part of the ride, but it wasn't too bad. Lots of good stories, photos, sheds and racks were shared by everyone, I never realized how many dedicated and hardcore Coues hunters there are A special thanks to Amanda for making the trip down and generously supplying the raffle prizes. A special thanks to Hector (Chef) for coming down early and helping out with the food. Chef is truly talented in the Culinary Arts. A speical thanks to Marks wife Linda for her photography skills Thanks also for wklman for that great Minnesota fish!, and NRS for the whitetail bratwurst, it was delicious. Amanda has some good pictures that she and Linda took and will be posting them soon.

    DRAW RESULTS UP!!!!

Yeah, I wish they would have left the hunt in November. I got the same tag, and have been waiting 5 long years for that first choice. I am going up and start scouting next month with the trail cam that I am buying. Even with warm weather I am going to find that toad of a buck.

Sorry, I feel the need to brag!!

Nice gun and nice present from your wife!
  24. O.K , now that all you trail cam guys have completely corrupted me with your great photos , I am going to buy my first trail cam with a built in viewer as I want simplicity of being able to view pictures on the spot and move the camera accordingly. The places I will set it up are more remote and unlikely to be found by anybody, so price is not as much of a concern as is a good cam. I also intend to buy the metal security housing so the bears can not damage it. What do you guys "in the know" reccommend?
