It's amazing how "Murphy's Law" can rear it's ugly head at the worst possible times. Sorry to hear about your past experiences, but that buck sure is nice, and your December tag finally paid off. Way to go! -

I wasn't sure how that ranking system works. But, this is a great website full of good people, great hunters and an excellent source of information. I am honored to be a member! -

TUCSON BUTCHER RUINS DEER MEET
Snapshot replied to whisper's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I have known the owner and "Mike" of the "Sausage Shop" for many years, I used to work with Kent's brother. I can say that the quality of their game processing has gone way down hill because of the fact that they have too many animals to process and run a deli at the same time and are sacrificing quality for quantity processing. This is simply unacceptable. Even though they still make excellent smoked sauasge and specialty stuff, they have gotten very sloppy with everything else. Last year I sent my wife over to pick up my deer meat, they were rude and short with her, and my order was not processed the way I told them I wanted it. After reading about your bad experience, I can say that they have lost me as a customer. -

Whats the dumbest thing you've done?
Snapshot replied to TATAat27's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I simply don't do dumb things, I am the perfect example of the hunter that everyone else strives to be! When I was 11 or 12 years old I went quail hunting with my Dad and I spooked a heard of Javelina, I proceeded to shoot one in the butt with my 20 gauge. I did not know about permits or legal game regs , and boy was my Dad mad. The Javelina was far enough away that it wasn't injured, but I did proceed at becoming very familiar with the regs and rules after that. In 1996 I was practicing for a motocross race up at the track in Eloy, I hit a lip on the top of a big double jump and came down 10 feet out of the air and landed on my tail bone (cracked the core) anyway, ended up in emergency and all that 2 weeks before deer season. Went hunting anyway, my Dad thought it was hilarious that I was carrying a big blue rubber donut on my backpack to sit on while I tried to glass, needless to say it was the most painful hunting trip I have ever been on. I stay on 4 wheels from now on. -
50 Elk, and a thousand hunters all jammed into small areas, no thanks!

With the weather that just came thru those deer sould be getting perky! -
Sorry to hear about your BPS mis-adventure. I have been a cabelas online and mail order customer for many, many years, and never a problem. I order it and it shows up in 4-5 days, done deal, never a problem. I do like Sportsmans, it is like toys-r-us for big kids, alot of stuff . I am going down to the Tucson store and see Firstcouseswas80, because I love to give salesman a hard time.

Snapshot replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
The Sausage shop is who I use for what I mentioned in my first post. Ask for Kent the owner, if you stop by there. I will still find out what he uses on his sausage for you. -
Die hard Coues hunters refer to mule deer as "Karp/carp, because they think they are big and dumb and easy to kill, like a carp at the lake. There are those of us that are 50/50 and hunt both without bias, but we don't let the other half know about this so that we will get less grief about it.

Sorry, but that is something I have not attempted yet. I always have my butcher make up smoked summer sausage and brats type stuff. I will see if I can find out what he uses, as it is very good and the casing is light . -
Depends on what unit you are planning to hunt. Most December rifle hunts have very limited tag numbers so it will not be nearly as crowded as the earlier hunts

How many days in the field?
Snapshot replied to KidBowHunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I am self employed with a schedule that can change weekly, which makes it hard to get the hunting time in that I would like, however, I would say I hunt and scout maybe 30 days a year more or less.
