    SW Colorado Family Camping Tips

I took the family up a couple times to the Gunnison river at Almont, then we went down and rented a cabin on Vallecito reservoir, outside of Durango, right on the lake. There are campgrounds around there, I just dont remember where.? A good day trip, is the narrow gauge railroad train ride, from Durango to Silverton and back. Kids love it. The pine river flows into Vallecito, there is also the Animas river by Durango. Another spot is the Dolores river canyon, over by Dolores. Nice area for camping and fishing, and daytrip up to Telluride for food, shopping, music festivals etc.

Kate's law will also be coming up in the house of representatives. They really need to drop the hammer on these illegals.

    Watch where you step

I was working with a guy recently, who busted up his ankle pretty bad, about a year ago. He wears a brace now,and will never be the same. He has to side step going up and down stairs.

    Watch where you step

Tough situation with an injury like that. I need to get one of those emergency locators. As I get older, my brain still likes to write checks, that my body can't cash. Do you still have full mobility with the ankle?

    Temp.

The opposite effect, is we can't go out to the mailbox naked. I wish I was back in Montana right now. Standing in a cool river, waiving a graphite stick.

Anyone ever up and quit a good job?

Retiring at 56 would be nice. I will be 56 next birthday, but lost everything that would have been my retirement in the economic crash of 09. Now I will have to work until I fall over dead. Lol.

Anyone ever up and quit a good job?

After my divorce, I went up to Montana 2010-2011. I worked a seasonal job as head of maintenance on a large guest ranch, just outside of West Yellowstone. Not a bad gig, but it was seasonal. After I closed up the ranch at the end of September, I moved up to Bozeman for the winter, and went to work for Blackhawk Mfg. I worked in the injection moulding department making pistol holsters, gun stocks, and misc parts. It was a good place to work, but the pay was lousy. They offered me a training program in the machine shop for better pay, and future advancement, but I declined. Put in my 2 week notice in May, and went back down to the ranch for the summer. Blackhawk was purchashed by ATK. The company was growing and getting strict with Corporate policies. I enjoyed the family type atmosphere, but I didn't want to become a corporate Zombie. Anyone ever up and quit a good job?

I have quit a bad job. I used to be self employed for many years, but since that ended, I have not experienced anything that could be considered a good job. especially in Tucson.

    Big Montana Rattlesnake

This big snake was caught just outside of Ennis, in the Madison Valley. Montana is my, home away from home, when I can get up there. Have spent many days wandering the banks of the Madison River flyfishing. Never saw anything but Garter Snakes. But I don't go out of my way looking for anything that has venom.

    Electric code

Here in in Tucson, I used insulated wire for underground use. No conduit, except at the riser. Code said I had to go 24" underground. I failed my first inspection, because the trench was only 22" deep.....yep, the inspector used his tape measure.

    Another wood project

Very nice looking. Another trick to distress pine, is to put a wire brush wheel in a drill, and run it up and down the grain. Its a lot of work, but it has a pretty cool effect.

    Big Montana Rattlesnake

North of Ennis, on the Madison river, is a place called the Bear Trap Canyon Wilderness area. You have to hike a ways to get in there. I have heard from multiple sources, that there are many Rattlesnakes in that area. As cold as it gets in Montana, they must find areas deep underground to den up for the winter?
