    AZ outfitter murdered

It amazes me that some people here are without a doubt the coldest and most cruel humans (if they are human) I have ever seen. If this was a friend or family member I am curious what you would say about their passing.

    game and fish

This seems typical for AZGFD. I was told many years ago that some of the people that input the info about draws for AZGFD were convicts at a prison. Anyone ever hear this as well? If so then I REALLY don't trust AZGFD.

What round are you shooting Norteno? I have never owned a .270wsm until now and this seemed ultra flat. That was my point of this thread. I do agree that this rifle is my number 1 favorite now. From all the research I have done on the short mag rifle out, the .270 beats them all. Jack O'Connor made the .270 one of the best rounds there is. he havested every animal in North America with it. Now they have it in a MAG? I am tickled sh*tless. By the way. The deer in my picture was shot at 380 yards with a silver tip reload of my own out of my .270win.

If you have witnessed this seldom, remember, The pen is mightier than the sword. Report it together with wyguy. Knowledge is power and ther's power in numbers. United we stand. I know of a case when i was working for Sitgreaves in heber where a group of homeowners made them fix the road. It CAN and does happen.

I can understand to a point what wyguy is saying. IF, and only IF they don't repair the roads then you have a legitimate gripe. Make your phone call then, go protest, march or do what you think is right to have them held accountable. Like I said in my earlier post. They should be fined and pay the bill for having it restored. They have a job to do. If you have been on the forest road that goes by Woods Canyon lake to Bear Canyon lake and see the loggers driving this road, you would know why they may close it or any others. They haul one of the worst loads possible in some of the most unpredictable places on roads that are slippery, wet, dusty. I wouldn't want to be around them in those types of circumstances. You did however state that your itsy, bitsy ford ranger would cause minimal damage. I repeat, DAMAGE IS DAMAGE. Are you going to go back and fix it?

Yes AZ. 2012..unit 18a..I didnt tell you all the part about the record booker I missed 2 times the day before at about the same yardage. Held over him a little to much. I was by myself that day. One of the gentlemen helping me the next day witnessed my failure the previous day. My range finder only went to 400 yards and I couldn't get a fix on him. He said he had been watching the buck I missed for a week and that he def. would make the book. He was a retired guide out of Safford. I will never hunt by myself again. Thanks to those 2 guys for helping me the next day fill a long awaited tag.

No laser..they are not legal. Good try tho. All I know is that 2 gentelmen watched the shot with 12x50 Swarovski binos. After the kill they ranged from where I was to where the animal was laying with a Leupold 1000 yrd rangefinder and it was 517 yrds. As far as lucky? I beg to differ. I meassured the drop on the goat and it was between 8 and 9 inches. This may be what your rifles do. I know this is what mine did. As far as your 25-06 dropping over 2 feet at 515. bogles my mind. I have a 300 win mag shooting 180 cor-loct with 72 grns of 4350 IMR with CCI mag primers @3140 fps. At 500 yrds it only drops 18 1/4" I tend to think that your 25-06 would be flatter shooting rifle than that. Don't know..Not my rifle

What is your Go-To round for Elk?

A reload of my own. My 300 Win mag Browning Medallion grade shooting a 180 grn Rem cor-loct, 72 grns of 4350 IMR with a CCI mag primer at 3240 fps. Never had an elk step more than 2 feet after shot.

Not even what I am trying to argue... No duh. Im saying why is it okay for these huge logging trucks to go in and destroy the roads but its not okay for me to go out in my little Ford Ranger and drive them? My little truck isnt going to do near as much damage as these trucks have. DAMAGE IS DAMAGE..no matter how small

    Flagstaff Rant of the day.

I worked for the forest service many years ago in the Heber area. They close the roads and more are closing everyday for simple reasons. IDIOTS that dont obey the rules of going outdoors. Driving on closed roads that are posted, littering, weather conditions, poaching, shooting signs, cutting locks, breaking down fences, starting fires when posted not to, game management, hazards to humans, etc...etc..etc. We have caused, meaning people not being responible and ehtical when outdoors, have created these problems over the years. Loggers are doing a service at times. Thinning areas that could be a fire hazard, suppying needed wood for the industry and so on. They should be held accountable tho if they do dammage to the area. If they don't restore it then they should be fined and a sub-contractor hired to fix it with the bill sent to the person who did the damage. Our rights as americans are being stripped away at an alarming rate because of these things. Next time you go into the outdoors, take a look at the damage, however small it may be, and think to yourself, Wonder who and why they did this. It may have been you at some time.

How did you get into hunting and the outdoors?

Started out hunting in Louisiana. I was born in Phoenix but couldn't wait for summer as my folks would send me there at a very young age to spend the summer with PaPa. He was a huge cowboy into cattle and the outdoors. At 10 years old I was driving his truck to go feed the horses every night then rabbit hunting after but only if I sung the song "Jambalaya" while I drove. Guess it made him laugh cuz it sure embarrassed me. As the sun would go down I was allowed 5 shotshells for my single shot 20 guage. When the season opened around Dec. and we were there for X-Mas vacation, I got to go hunt ducks and geese. They lived right out in the marsh so I only had to walk about 150 yards and was hunting birds. I would always bring back at least 1 or 2 birds. I attribute this to him teaching me how to shoot and using a 20 guage single shot youth model shotgun. I had to make that 1st shot count!!! I will never forget what an inspiration this great man was to me. He taught me to hunt safe and respect all living things. Never shoot any animal you are not going to eat. Unless it was a skunk that got under the house....lark

I totally agree. I do have rifles with MOA and BDC turrets. However this one doesn't hence the mil-dot scope. I have never shot at that yardage without a scope that has those features. I am trying to learn how it works without having the "dial a deer" scope feature. I will say that I had calculated all possible situations before the shot. Wind was calm, level ground, bi-pods used, good anchor point, etc... so I did feel very good about taking the shot. I also had 2 friends spotting for me as well. Thanks for your feedback.

Vaquero outfitters..... Ouch that'll leave a mark

Even a private party would have to have a gnf license an permit. I understand that but they are friends or family he knows and are paying HUGE $$$ to hunt his property. He gut shot these elk in PV because they were competeing with his cattle for graze. I was told he hated the elk and thats why he did it. He was quoted saying that G&F did nothing to help him and his cattle were going hungry. Those elk were there LONG before he leased that land I say. The other fact about this, He gets hunt tags for his own property from G&F. Kinda of BS if you ask me. You get busted before and the G&F still helping him make $$$
