Cant wait. Only going to have a couple days to hunt, but I'll be in 18B, rain permitting, for the first couple days.

A couple Pics. I usually release everything, but the guy I had on the boat wanted a bunch, so we kept some.

Hornady Superformance Powder for .270 Win???
Havasuhunter replied to scoutpylot's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I haven't had time to do anything with the 270 yet. I have some reloader 22 and IMR 4350 I'm going to try first when I get around to it. I just barely got my reloading bench set back up. Hoping to get on it in a few weeks. I'm no longer working in the oilfield and will be working in AZ for the next 4 months at least, so I may actually get to it. Hoping to burn a lot of powder at the range during the winter months while the weather is so comfortable. -
Just a bunch of idiots. If they want to protest government, they should start by refusing to take handouts and start refusing police assistance and policing themselves. Don't rob liquor stores, don't attack cops and you may not get shot.

Is it a Banquet? Think I got an invite but with limited time off and it being Dec, I'll be bowhunting.

Yotes! dang Apple autocorrect
-
Beer drinking Javelina? Should have let him get one, could have been really entertaining! As far as Yores go, everywhere I go in AZ seems to have a good number of Coyotes.
-
Bummer, used to be a pretty good zone.
-
Glad you recovered him anyway. I like long range shooting for putting down a wounded animal. Not a fan of it for the first shot. Cool you guys took two bucks almost at the same time. That's always a good feeling.

Kittens from the same litter? That's good stuff. Love the open trap picture.
-
Happens in AZ and CA all the timE. Hard to not get totally pissed off.
-
What a mess. I'm just hoping to hunt somewhere in Jan for Javelina to accompany my deer tag.
-
Yeah, I'd be smiling too. Very nice buck.

I have no personal experience but a couple MT guys I know from the oilfield swear they prefer FMJ bullets in a 220 swift or 22-250 for their coyote hunting when saving the pelt is the goal.

Anybody get out yet??
Havasuhunter replied to KidBowHunter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Ducks are starting to move here in UT. Pretty cold storm right now, hoping a bunch follow me back to AZ tonight. -
Any one want to join up to hunt Mexico I need a total of 5 guys
Havasuhunter replied to kyle44k's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
I'd be very interested if someone pre scouts the ranch or they can show some proof that it hasn't been shot out. -
The companion tag is an awesome gesture by game and fish to help kids have a successful hunt.
-
Good. I missed the draw and need to buy a leftover or two Javi tag.

dream buck. Almost unbelievable.
-
great buck. thanks for sharing the story. I know what a struggle migranes can be. Glad he finally got it done.

Best to have both. Also probably best to have a 300 mag, 7-08, 308, 257 Roberts, 6.5x55, and a few others. Just in case!:-)

Probably the same ones I have. Mine are the wind River Cascades. I refer to them as Leupolds since that's who made them. Think they were only $300 back when I bought them and have been very good for the money too. I'll keep on looking for there replacement. A good pair of 10s is probably the most useful thing you can have on a lot of hunts.
-
Sure this topics been talked about a lot, but hoping to get fresh ideas. I have some old Leupold wind rivers that need to become my back up pair. I'm looking to upgrade and hoping to spend under $500 but may go slightly higher if the value is there. After looking through them a 12x50 pair of Swaros is in my future but want to get some carry 10s or possibly 8s first.
-
My buddy brought out brand new Viper HDs on our hunt a week and a half back. They were sharper and had better color contrast than my old Leupolds, but I was not blown away. I looked through a pair of 12x50 Swaros recently though and everything else seems to suck! I'll have to own a pair of those someday. For now I'm still looking at various 10s, trying to decide. I have the German BL 15x56 Minox and have been playing with them on the tripod. They are very good for the money I'd say. Been looking out on the lake and over to the CA side from my house and I'm quite impressed For the price. Thanks for all the comments and opinions.

Well said. Comparing 7mm rem mag to 308 is like saying should I buy the mini van or the 1 ton diesel. It depends what your using it for. when someone says 7mm, I think of 7-08 or 280 rem. The 7 rem mag is an awesome long range high powered cartridge which is why so many custom long range rifles are build around it.
