    Toyota Tundra

The newer 4.6 is a great motor and I believe will get you in the 19-20 MPG zone. As said, leveled with bigger tires my 5.7 gets 16-17 on highway and that's actual checking with pen and paper. Not the oh my trucks gets this mileage even though I never actually have done the math like some guys do. Hope this doesn't offend anyone but if 17 MPG isn't enough for you, you probably don't need a full sized 4 WD truck. My Tacoma only gets around 20-21 with the old 2.7L 4 cylinder. I'm going to play with a few things to try and improve that too. It has 300k and runs like a top, but may do an engine build on it this winter to improve power and mileage. If I didn't haul a boat and lots of tools for work, my Tacoma would be all I need. I drive it whenever possible to keep the miles off the Tundra. I had one of the old Smaller Tundras with the 4.7 motor. It was only a 2 WD and got 17-18 MPG actual mileage using math, not guessing. Great truck, but not impressed with the mileage. The new truck is several hundred pounds heavier, has 100 more horsepower and is 4 WD and is only 1 MPG worse. Guess it all comes down to what you need it for. I'm sure I sound like a "Toyota" guy to most. I wasn't before. I've owned every brand of truck either personally or as part of a business I was part of. I am now hands down a "Toyota" guy. I just trust them. The American trucks have come a long way, especially in the last 5 years, but it sure took them some time to catch up. They lead Toyota in nicer interior, better mileage and other categories, but rugged dependability belongs to Toyota. Power wise, the 5.7 with the 6 speed is pretty amazing too.

    4 days on the Yellowstone

Just an amazing place. I used to live in Billings. Right off West King Ave. The summer is when I really miss it too. Not much for cold, that's why I now live in AZ. Glad you had a good time and got to enjoy the park. Your report and pictures bring back some of my fondest memories. Bet your already planning a return trip?

Outer Limits 2 day Aug 4-6

How many people have caught those 300 YFT? 450? That's awesome they are close, but I'm betting the fish per rod count is not as good as it sounds. Would be awesome to get out there on a private boat right now.

I agree. Mine are better than the Kaibabs I've looked through for my eyes. It came down between the two.

    Toyota Tundra

Good deal, but you are better off getting a newer one with the 6 speed auto. I think 2012 or 13 is when the 6 speed came out. Mine gets 16-17 MPG on highway with the 6 speed. I have it leveled with 33" Toyo ATs. IMO that's not bad mileage in a truck with awesome power. The 5.7 motor is an absolute beast.

I have the same 15s. Very impressed with them for the money. I may sell mine in a year or two and move up to Swaros. For the money, these very good glass.

What do Coues deer taste like?

Coues deer are the best tasting deer I've eaten. I've eaten Eastern whitetail, Columbian Blacktail, several sub strains of Mule deer and of course Coues deer. The AZ Coues taste better than all of them, but they are all good. The best game meat I've had though is Pronghorn when properly handled and rapidly cooled.

How much $$$ to find one?

In the past that has been correct, but I believe that has been changed,(very recently) the new wording says "commensurate" which indicates compensation in proportion to market value. Last time I went in and talked with G&F they said this was changed to allow a buddy, helping a buddy with gas, maybe food etc... Again just what I was told. That may be so, but this post is not about giving your buddy gas money because he helped you scout or glass. This is about blatant commercialization of wild game. In which case, you need a guide license from what I understand.

Well said. If this continues it will be all pay to play like Europe.

How much $$$ to find one?

If you assist in any way and are compensated in any way, you need a Guides license in AZ.

    Hunting on Native Lands

Almost all tribal lands sell their own hunting and fishing permits. That will be your written permission. They have entirely separate laws and enforcement. Find the agency that sells the hunting permits and ask lots of questions.

    oracle camera stolen

    +1
  24. This definitely will put extra pressure on AZs Bobcats. CA is loaded with Bobcats, now it will be more so. I may have to shoot a bobcat while over there for my deer hunt, just on principle. Those desert hippies that just got this ban passed have their sites set on more bans too. Stopping hunting in the Mohave National Preserve is big on the anti hunting agenda in CA. Don't think for a minute a lot of those people are not working hard in AZ for the same type of bans. They think they have Momentum now too.
