Thanks Ryan! I hope so too! Angie is shooting really well so I am confident she will get it done. That is, of course, if she can even draw her bow back once that buck fever sets in! -Tracy

This is Scrappy! Does anybody have any idea what is wrong with his ears? Looks like a squirrel was chewing on them. Disease? Parasites? -Tracy

Definitely some studds there! Thanks for sharing! -Tracy

That very cool! Would have never guessed by the picture that you added the antlers to the skull. Great job! -Tracy

The general area is somewhere above 3000 feet elevation. Sorry Tracy, I couldn't resist.

I really don't think it looks like it was caused by a poorly placed shot. They seem too deteriorated like maybe there was some kind of infection or something. -Tracy

I was 14 when I drew my 1st tag, a muzzleloader cow elk tag. Killed a cow on the 2nd day of the hunt. My passion/obsession for hunting went out of control from there! -Tracy -
You got that right!!! I have guys I know that get drawn for the same unit I put in for almost every year and I just get another point YAHOO! I agree. That shows a huge problem with our system and that points mean nothing. It's all luck, and I don't see this proposal doing anything to help. I know a couple of guys that drew archery bull tags 3 years in a row, thats wrong!! Richard Bonus points do work and do mean something. Bonus points increase your odds, they do not guaranty you will be drawn. You have to understand that its still the luck of the draw. Lets say you and I put our names on a piece of paper and put them in a hat. We draw a piece of paper and your name comes up so next time I get to put two pieces of paper with my name on it in the hat and you only get one. We draw again and your name comes up again. So next time I get three pieces of paper with my name on it and you still only get one. This could go on and on for ever untill I have 100 pieces of paper with my name on it, in the hat, and you only have one. Even though it would be highly unlikely because the odds are very much in my favor, it is still possible for your name to be pulled out and not mine. Just like a guy who buys 1000 lottery tickets, his odds are better than the guy who only buys one but it still comes down to the luck of the draw. -Tracy

I have lived here for all of my 26 years and have put in for the draws every year since I was 10 years old. Some very good points made by all but if we are looking to give preference or advantage to those who have supported the AZGFD throughout the years then I don't think that length of residency is a good determining factor. There are many people who have been AZ residents for many years that have never contributed any kind of support toward AZGFD. If they decide now that they want to start hunting should they get higher preference? You also have to consider that there may be nonresidents that put in for the draw for the past 25 or so years that may love this state but because of other obligations can not live here. Should they not get higher preference because they are not a resident even though they have contributed thousands of dollars to the AZGFD over the years. I would lean more toward an addition to the loyalty point system that we have now. Something like Scoutem mentioned, a loyalty bonus point for every five years you have put in. That seems like a pretty fair way to give preference based on your support/contibutions to the AZGFD. -Tracy
