Grizzlies found to be actively stalking hunters
Zeke-BE replied to BeardownAZ's topic in The Campfire
I was in Missoula Montana in 2001 in October when it hit the news that a montana elk hunter shot a cow elk and while by himself and during when he was gutting the animal a grizz came right up behind him and killed him and took the elk. -
Uuuhhhh....... You better jump all over that get that business started before someone Else does. After reading this I believe with in 10 years someone will be doing this. I've seen on the internet that someone here in AZ for a fee will go out and scout for you, take pictures and give you GPS location of,those pictures of the unit of your choice. I wouldnt be surprise if that company is already starting to use drones.

I always hunted 36b couse. This was my first year hunting mule deer and I was hunting 36b. I didn't want to show up to a hunt and that is where all the hunters are camping and hunting at. So I went out for the first mule deer hunt drove around just to see where the camps were and where all the hunters were hunting. But I stayed on the road and glassed.

Last time I bagged a deer was a couse when I was 17. Now that I'm 32 I've had a 15 year dry spell. In that time I've had 8 years of missing the hunt. I had 2 years living out of state, 2 years of barely missing the draw, a mistake on 1 application , and on the down turn of the economy I was building a house and the bank went bankrupt and left me 70 grand owing my contractors. So I spent 2 years (which overlapped 3 hunting seasons) working every minute of my life to pay these guys back. The good news I got debt free The other 7 years involved me focusing on my hunt to get my brother his first deer, missing a 90 inch whitetail, and just plain owe got skunked during those hunts. So this is my first mule deer and I took him because we'll he was the only buck I saw in 3 days and I had to make it back to work the next day. He ended up being 250 yard with a .270 tikka loaded with accurbond. But my luck started changing when I bought the Vortex tripod. This August I used it on my antelope hunt in New Mexico and shot off the top of it. And for this little guy I got down for a prone shot and the grass was to high so I crawled back and got my tripod and rested on top of that and dropped him. So I found my lucky charm. Maybe next year the next one will be a few inches bigger

That backpack video drone seemed cool. When your scouting and looking for a water source just pop that drone out and go up and over that ridge that would of taken you 30 minutes to get to and check it out there. If it looks good head on over. It would make it real easy on the boots just like Glassing.

I went on YouTube to see if there are any vids on hunting. There were some. Some deer we're curious and some just flat out was running. I can see the advantage of this but I also seen deer harassment already on you tube. Plus PETA were using it to spy on hunters in a couple vids. Definitely during hunting season a band for sure.

Bow or rifle? Either way there are only 40 tags for the December hunt. I've bow hunted it during the December hunt. It's pretty quite. Reeves ranch is a good trail but I always run across white tail hunters who are taking in horses. Get away from the roads anywhere in the unit you can find deer. According to game and fish the success stats for whitetail really haven't changed. But I' have a few friends who are not on this forum who have completely given up on 24 b

Have you ever seen the movie Signs?

Even with a tag soup I go home and start day dreaming about the hunt I was on. Then I think what I could of done different, and with in a day or two I'm usually on google earth scouting and day dreaming about the next year hunt .

Zeke-BE replied to daverp's topic in Elk Hunting
I wish we had a Family tradition that did that on Thanksgiving! But one we never did and two that day is my wife's favorite holiday. I can hunt any time but when they fall over on top for the holidays wife says a no go on those days . But that must be a blast for the kids grow up that way enjoy your Thanksgiving and good luck -

Look at the logos for all the big companies. Everything should be simple and easy to remember. Nike, Apple, BP, Pepsi, target, BMW, Ford, Chevrolet, GE, Dell. I don't have an answer for yours but in the advertising world keep it simple. Go on line and look at the hunting logos to get ideas.
