Good luck. Scouted some spots I hunted years ago before 10 became a carnival.didnt see the sign I expected. Lots of archery hunters and the few I talked to where moving alot and not hearing bugles yet. Hope your son tags out.

2 weeks out from my son's elk hunt. Wondering if anybody else will be hunting 10. Also the big bo let's youth hunters in for free.

It's all the citiots that move here and want to be outdoorsman. Real country folk are raised to respect the land. Don't know what the phuk mexico has to do with it.

I have A red dot on a rifle that is not an AR, my problem with it is a scope gathers more light in low light conditions. Red dot does not.

dang, calling us out haha, honestly I feel a 8 during the hunt. I put in for alot of difficult hunts. This is the first year in 13 years I have not gotten drawn. A couple years I didn't get to put in due to work or obligations to work and my son. 2 of those hunts I had major vehicle trouble on the first weekend of the hunt. This post opens my eyes to how I need to step up my scouting time. 1.5 in the off season...

From what I read it says the client threw the guide a pistol and booked it to save his own hide. Why didn't he use the handgun to protect both of them?

The only place around the river to camp by drake is bear siding. And lots of trouble happens around the river campsites so it's highly recommended to carry down there.

Sounds like it was at bear siding. I always carry a gun at the river. Snakes and who knows what else.

Showing up early enough to make a water run in would be the safest thing to do. Better than leaving a day early because you ran out.

Is the point guard once in a lifetime use? Can you use it again after a set amount of time?

I don't go on a pack trip without a gallon per day. Especially on the hike in or out. You get to sweating and you will need even more. Some people get by with less. But I have gone a day without water and a heavy pack and it is not fun or safe. Good luck on your hunt.

My son's first hunt was a tough one, (20c). After not finding deer we switched to quail and he ended up having the time of his life. His second hunt was a peaks elk hunt. He hiked his butt off and had a bull elk stare him down at 20 yards. (Cow tag). The experience inspired him even more. I agree, not pressuring them and teaching them to enjoy the experience is what matters. This year he has a youth cow tag in a prime unit. He already has his gear packed and is excited as can be even though he has struck out twice.
