Chased a guy and his son this year in 17a for miles while I stopped and picked up everything that was falling out of the trailer they were towing behind a side by side. They were going so fast my truck couldn't keep up. Eventually they turned after stopping to check their gear. I was able to give him back some of his stuff, but he said there was more that got lost before they passed me. Felt sorry for the guy, but at the same time letting a kid drive like a bat out of heck with thousands of dollars bouncing around behind you is not very bright.

Is it possible to hunt elk each year as an AZ resi?
Explorer replied to teej89's topic in Elk Hunting
I have drawn tags every year since 2003. How many bull tags.. one. Could have saved points and had a few more bull tags. I just love to hunt elk. That being said I put in for some rough and tough hunts. But once you get the area figured out it is just as productive as a popular hunt area but with way less people. Even cow tags are getting competitive now. Late archery tags are becoming more popular and harder to draw as well. Swarms of people legally immigrating here from all over the country have slowly decayed the quality and opportunity to hunt. It will continue to get worse and some of us including me will become the ones that take over another state just to have quality outdoor experiences. -

we were looking around phoenix, we both aren't a fan of cities so we feel like we'd be in the city traffic/life that we hate. We both grew up in small towns, me a lot smaller than her but we're trying to find towns where it'll feel more like small town living. We're flying over there in january to check out areas near phoenix and the prescott area. I also don't know if I/my lab could do the summer heat lolId say youre on the right track. I lived in the prescott area for 10 years, and wish I'd never left. Moved down to this hellhole 12 years ago to escape the ex and make more money, but now the wife and I are ready to head back up the hill. We'll be shopping for a lot next summer and plan to start building in 2018. I am able to enjoy the outdoors by making money off the people who move here and build a house and make it harder for me to enjoy the outdoors... Y ou should buy now. Prescott is starting to boom again and prices are going up and up! -
One fish or many fish? How hard is it to bring home 100 pounds or at least 50?

Good luck. Hope she gets a big one!

We thank the animal and then eat the tenderloin back at camp. Sometimes I get sad that the hunt is over!

Just read an interesting article about freemartinism in red deer and cattle twins. Curious if it happens with elk or deer in North America.

Kaibab archery Cow Buffalo - aug 12th---25th

Paid clientele should never have priority over real hunters who put in work. I would step on a guide in a heartbeat. -
Talhoit mesa road #666. Number is very fitting.

Must have been fun going after that one. I would imagine more than one hunter was gunning for that buck. Congratulations.

Green Mojave are smaller rattle snakes.I have seen some beautiful diamondback rattlesnakes that were green like the ones posted. It's the Arizona black rattlesnakes that I always watch out for. They look too much like pine branches on the ground.

Youth rifle poll....... Need some input
Explorer replied to Shooter McGavin's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
243 is easily found in a youth platform. 25/06 would cost a little more plus a new stock. I opted for 7mm/08 for my son but ammo is a little pricy for some reason. -
That's alot of salt blocks! Maby build a ground blind out of them. Jk! Good luck. Wish I was out in the field!

"How did I live without it?" Hunting Gear

Did you ever try any of the insoles like dr. Scholtz or good feet? I busted my heel up pretty good at the beginning of the year stomping firewood and ended up getting some of those dr scholtz gel pad things. Man what a difference! yes they do ok. I'm stepping it up this year and plan on having a custome pair of insoles made by a podiatrist. I have heard very good things about them and even though they are gonna be expensive I feel I can't go wrong. -

The older I get the more I spend on boots and hiking shoes.
