25-06 that's Funny. Last Fall I was hunting a location, that had a lot of sign and I had a few game cam pics of bears and one of a lion, but could not find the bears. So I posted on the Bear section for advise. kidso suggested calling them in. I had a FoxPro so I download a few new calls and set out. Got to my spot, placed my back about three feet away from a cliff (about 20 feet tall), had good brush in front of me to give cover, yet was a little elevated so I could see the creek bottom and hillside across from me. In full camo, being very still (just pressing the call button), I begin to remember all of the stories about calling in a bear or lion on top of you. Just then I felt a pretty hard hit on my back and felt claws dig into my skin. Needless to say, there was yelling and jumping and pulling of my pistol, thinking I was lion food. Yet, as I turned, I saw that this squirrel was flying backwards away from me and I can only say we had the same expression of fear and confusion. I assume he thought I was a tree or rock or something and made the leap off of the top of the wall behind me. While he only left a couple of very tiny marks on my back, the psychological warfare that a squirrel can inflict should not be underrated.

*** AZHUNTER23 Is going bear hunting! QCCHEVY is glassin with vortex 12x50

This is simply a question and not a comment on the way this is done, but "what if" the $2500.00 is not reached? I would like to see $100,000.00 in the pot, (but for reducing my chances to win) one of the best causes there is. -

Just donated. Best of luck to Jared, great thing CW is doing for this family. -
While I'm not sure I agree with these buyer/seller list, please add Upland81 and 1shot. I have bought a few things and everyone on CW has been great. But, I can not recall the other seller's tags, thus I am unable to provide the names. Yet, just because I can not remember does not mean the are not "good guy sellers".

Lol. The Very reason I didn't one hand this one. But thank you, I believe those highlight my points. Good grip/ stance it is great. Lack of knowledge (not that I know anything) or lack of attention it could go wrong real fast.

I hope it helped. As for an actual bear gun, let me add this. I would have two concerns 1) time back to target 2) ability to fire it one handed. But that's just me. Hit him with the first shot and don't worry about 1 and 2.

I as the lucky one that ended up with the 500. To begin with, let me say this is truly an awesome firearm and 1shot was a great guy to deal with. The day I got the 500, I took it out and shot 8 rounds through it. The recoil is manageable, but can be unforgiving. If you have a good grip/hold of it and good stance, it is not bad. However, I could tell that a new shooter or someone not focused on what they were doing, could drop the gun or take a hit to the forehead. I felt no burn or spray from the weapon. However, my wife was amazed at the pressure and how loud the gun was. I was rushed for time, so I only fired 8 rounds. Yet, after 8 rounds my hand/wrist/arm was still intact. On the way home, I did notice a little soreness between thumb and trigger finger, but faded within minutes. I own 22/380/9mm/45/357/ and 44 mag, and of course none of them compare to the pure power of the 500. With that being said, not a gun I would take out for a day at the range. However, as noted above, manageable with the possibility to be unforgiving. On a side note, I did not one-hand this pistol.

Been looking for one of those for a carry pistol

I'm looking for a rifle to keep in the truck. Looking for iron sights, to fit into a scabbard. Open to make, model, caliber (save for .22). Mainly, something that if it gets stolen I will not be hart broken. So price is a factor.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. I think maybe a 30-30, will work best. Just priced the marlin and it is pretty cheap even new.

Wished you were further north, I would take it.

I am getting out of the horse business and wanted to post this on CW. I have a 1993 Shelby two horse trailer. Extra tall with great solid floors. Rubber mats on ramp and flooring. Swinging and removable divider. Tack room with more than room for two saddles and tack. Doors at head and escape doors for easy loading on both sides. Extra set of doors for rear to completely enclose trailer. Dual axle for stability. Tires okay. New jack on the front. Used it a few months ago to pull to Tucson and back, no problems. Overall a great entry level trailer. I also have hanging feeders, saddle racks and saddles. The saddle is a true working cowboy saddle, solid leather, very heavy. It has a deep swell, high back, built to ride all day in. The only issue is some stiching is coming loose from around the horn. I believe it is a 16" but I haven't measured it. I am asking $2500 OBO on the trailer. I want 500 for the saddle, 50 for the saddle rack and 10 a piece for the feeders. I am more than happy to send pictures upon request. The trailer is listed in Prescott on Craig's list with photos.

I will check the saddle tomorrow and update. The trailer sold today to a rescue in the valley. Still have the saddle, stand, and feeders. I try to support the local rescue as much as possible. I did not know about the one in New River.
