Here are some photos I took from the house on July 21st. This storm hit us about an hour later and really gave us a good soaking.

Thanks guys! We do love it out here!!

You'll generally find the Coues deer in pockets in 27 although they are not as isolated as they once were. There are a lot of Coues deer in 27 but man is most of it rough to get into. Maple peak is a good choice and though I haven't been in there in several years I'm betting there's a good population of them running in that burn.

Pretty Cool!!

Welcome to the site!!

The boys and some of their friends went out for smallies on Saturday and just tore them up. Lots of fish but in all honesty there were 11 of them fishing.

Very nice!! Are they all from the White Mountain Reservation?

Way to go Dillard!!

No proof but I'm betting he is!! Not that you would not be out there anyway but find that sweet buck and hope you and Amanda can seal the deal this year. Well we already have a couple picked out. Here's Trent's buck from last year. Here's Amanda's from last year. I don't have one picked out yet, been too busy around the house. But I killed my big one last year, it's Trent and Amanda's turn.

What size motor is it?

The farthest I've hiked in for Coues deer is 5 miles. It was a brutal hike in and out, but it produced two nice bucks, one of which scored 123. Of course we had the area all to ourselves. On the other hand my 124 buck from last year was only about a mile from the road.

My wife and I were laying down on the couches in our great room this afternoon and she asked if there was a window open in the house because the chandeliers that hang from the ceiling on 8 ft. chains were swinging. No windows were open but we know now what caused it. Never felt any movement though. I'm in SE AZ about 10 miles from the NM border.

I started wearing the Meindl Canada's over 15 years ago and am now on my 4th pair. Awesome boots for Coues country. Now if I can just keep my 19 year old out of them maybe they'll last another 4 years!

Nope no bears.

My boys went out yesterday looking for bears and glassed up 8 or 9 Coues bucks. They convinced me I needed to go in and take a look at one particular buck. Well I have never been one to turn down the chance to check out a good Coues buck. So I got up at 3:00 am this morning and headed out to glass some country where they had seen these bucks the day before. Wouldn't you know it we found the bucks plus a few more. Turns out this time of year with all the rain we've had has the deer all feeding on the SE slopes gobbling up the fillery and other weeds that have sprouted up. The glassing was easy and the bucks were bachelored up. We saw 7 in one group, and 11 total. Really is a good time to get out before they drop and see what's up and coming for next year. Curious to see what this buck will look like this fall.

Great job!!! I love seeing sportsmen out doing their part for wildlife. What a neat idea, to help keep these waterers up and running!

I used the 140 grn. in my 6.5 on my big buck this year and even with a "marginal" hit that monster buck didn't last 2 minutes. It is a real Show Stopper!!

Great photos, and we certainly welcome you and your family to the site!!

Great job CoTracker on your first Coues buck! You better be careful or you'll get hooked on these little deer, they are very addictive! Congratulations to you also Jeff for your excellent guiding.

We had some friends Latigo and Logan Pate, come down from Springerville for the unit 27 youth javelina hunt. Young Logan was able to drop the hammer on his first big game animal this morning. I thought it was great that he took his first javelina with his Great Grandfather's 30-30 Winchester carbine. I don't know how old this gun was but probably early 20th century! How nostalgic is that?!!
