I don't get mad, I get even. Numerous ways to do that. I would leave a camera farther back the trail to catch them coming in and out. Then you know who the are. I don't think you did anything wrong. Anybody trying to claim an area on public ground can only do it by first come first served when hunting.

I have to agree with a lot that has been said here. The only way hunting is a competitive sport is against yourself. Each person should decide if they want to shoot an animal or have tag soup. It seems like some are more interested in getting high fives. I love to see big racks but that is more in respect for the animal than the hunter. I remember when I was taken out of school for a week to go hunting back in the 70's and 80's they were excused absences from school. I took all my school work with me and did it everyday. Now if I want to take my daughters out of school for hunting they are unexcused. No work sent with them, they have to make it all up when they get back. I guess you can't learn how to take a standardized test out in the wilderness. The majority of the the hunting shows really aren't about hunting anyhow. They are to promote the newest products to make you a better hunter. That is why I only enjoy four shows: Fresh Tracks, Meat Eater, Bowhunt or Die, and Gritty Bowmen. Not nearly as much I wore x boots, with y jacket, and z pants, used the ? call, had to have an ozonics with my scent killer , etc.,etc.,etc..

The infrared filter causes that if it is an IR camera or blackflash. The pics I have seen like that is there is an IR filter that allows only IR light in at night and blocks IR in daytime. The IR filter is not closing during the daytime so the pictures are red, nighttime pictures you won't notice a difference since you want to allow IR into the cam.

I have seen them but not often enough to give any recommendations. Now mule deer on the other hand I have some spots in that unit.

Yearly. I usually buy two in the spring and wear one out in 3 months practicing. Then the other one is done by the end of elk season. I don't use them a lot but the latex gets loose so they don't sound quite right.

Just make the horses disappear and blame it on the wolves. Let the bunny huggers fight it out among themselves. Then maybe the wolves will be gone as well.

Heads up! June 21st for NM residents. Looks like about 350 deer tags, no unit 23 and youth only in 15. Mainly muzzleloader with some archery. About 100 archery javalina tags. Listed on the NM G&F web site if anybody is interested.

Usually the batteries are wired in series to give you 12 volts. If your game camera uses 8 batteries, 8x1.5 volts =12 volts. 4 batteries, usually the older C and D cell, give you six volts. Just make sure you can hide the solar panels really well and still have them work. The other option is to have an external 12 volt battery, think emergency exit lights, that the solar charger hooks up to.

Left over tags on sale June 22nd

29 tags : Jan. 2018, archery, in unit 27 are FAWTD . -
I put my kids in for general hunts here in NM. The reason is cost is the same, better odds to draw in the general hunt, the JR hunts have way worse draw odds due to less tags and higher numbers of youth. If they don't draw the NMG&F offers youth encouragement hunts ( cow elk ) that are first come first serve, I have not had any problem buying them a tag.

I would rather have the sheds because that means he won't be out there this September. Nice find either way.

Sorry for your loss.

I don't understand the question. You want information to argue with the hysterical anti-wolf crowd? I think most ranchers, hunters are anti-wolf, meaning against the wolf reintroduction. Do you mean pro-wolf, anti-hunter crowd that you want to argue with?

It belongs to Capt. Hook, he got an upgrade. You can find him in Never Land on the Jolly Roger

After 3 years of shooting the Whisker Biscuit, grouping and shooting really well I guess I wore it out. It started ripping fletchings off the arrows. So I finally went with a QAD Ultra Rest. One step up from the Hunter rest, easier to broad head tune since it moves up and down as well as left to right, but not micro adjustable like the HDX. After 3 days I really like the drop away rest. Quiet and no fletching contact what so ever. I modified French Tuned the bow and re-sighted with the 20 yard pin after getting the new rest on. Groups tightened up where I am stacking 3 arrows at 30 yards, now to move out to 40. When is elk season again?
-
Nothing wrong with the Whisker Biscuit IMO. I think after a lot of shooting you need to replace the Whiskers. I was grouping really well with the old biscuit and just got tired of re-fletching arrows. The point when I switched was when I shot 6 arrows at the start of a shooting session and took a fletching off of each one. I would rather be shooting instead of fletching.

Go redneck like we did. About 1/3 of a 55 gallon drum, top cut off and flared to sit over the cut drum. Handles welded on the lid. Holes in bottom of ring to allow air in, you can even put dampeners on them like a weber grill. Then when it is bedtime or the wind comes up, throw the lid on and turn dampeners down. Still have coals in the morning.

I was so looking forward to women mud wrestling with this post headline.

The fall is the fun part, it is the sudden stop that really sucks.

Read post #11 and then ask those questions again.

First come first served. You can't claim a spot by leaving your stand or blind there year round. Who even knows if they drew a tag? I would never trust a stand somebody else put up. So I would check it and use a fall arrest system anyhow, just make sure you know how to self-rescue.

Many different things you can use to sharpen your broad head. I just bought a Work Sharp belt sharpener. I mainly bought it for my knives and put a razor sharp edge on my Buck that I can't remember the last time I sharpened. It was rather dull to say the least. I thought my broad heads were sharp until I did some on that. Try the rubber band test to see the difference. In the field I have a sharpening steel by one of the big knife makers, not sure if it Case, Old Henry, or Schrade. Lots of videos on youtube to learn how to sharpen a broad head. Find the one you like best.

The high at my house was 45 degrees. Yes the high temp was 45 degrees. This is what the Manzano Mountains looked like.
