I think it is a nobel idea but I bet someone would be able to hack it and put their own fingerprint on it so it would fire for them. I know when I had to check my daughters out of after school programs the fingerprint reader worked about 80% of the time. Decent gun safes keep firearms from being stolen, all my guns are in one of the three I have. Get rid of stupidity and you will drop "accidental" shootings.

Much better than what I would have said. I would have said she can't be that much of a vegetarian because beavers are animals.

Anybody use decoys? What I have done since I solo hunt is made partial decoys so it looks like a head or rump sticking out behind a tree. I just painted cloth with fabric paint on both sides and thin spring metal for shape. I can set them up as I need. That way I can cow call with a diaphragm mouth call and bugle with a pack bugle to sound like a little bull. I usually have the "decoys" about 50 yards behind me from where the bull is bugling but remember they like to come in downwind. If they see the "decoys" they think elk are there and will not usually hang up. Put on a show to make the big boys think a youngster might be beating them to the punch. The only problem is don't over call especially in a heavily hunted unit. You might get more hunters than elk. It also depends on what part of the rut you are hunting. If the elk are not rutting it does not work to use calls but this has worked for me pre-rut to rut and what some call the second rut where unbred cows come into heat again. If the bulls have their harems you can't get them to come in in this situation.

Look at all the hollywood stars and producers who have guns in every movie but are so anti-gun. Disney is the worst. Kids movies and anti-hunting in almost all of them. I took my daughters to the new Cinderella last weekend and so anti-hunting. -
You talking pronghorn or exotic antelope? In Az or other location? If you are talking pronghorn in Az I put my money on that nice little one Flatlander got. I think I missed the final score though.

Hunting with an order of protection - Questions/Thoughts needed
Red Sparky replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
No I have never encountered this. Words of wisdom is to follow the advice of your attorney as he can interpret the order better. Advice is hunt alone and try to avoid him. If you do encounter him it is easier to S,S,S alone as most get caught by someone talking -
I think the key that this post is making fun of happens on every forum. I am on here to learn about Coues deer since I finally saw two bucks here in NM and am interested in hunting them. I will have an archery tag for them this year in unit 23, non-Burro Mnts. if the draw is the same with more tags than hunters. I like reading other post and contributing when I can. What I see on every hunting forum is somebody gets a tag and their first post is I have never hunted this unit so where should I start and it always includes "NOT LOOKING FOR ANY HONEY HOLES.". This is bad forum etiquette. I think the members who have been on a hunting forum for a long time have formed opinions about other members. So get on and post long before you draw the tag and I bet you would get more help. I got burned once but have met some great hunters by helping NR's by having them apply for the tags I do and go on my hunts if they get drawn. So I help if I can and limit what I say if possible.

Just giving you a hard time! It is hard to keep it all straight. My punctuation needs to be better but I did not get good grades in English so let me rephrase----Diamond brand, Infinity Edge model, made by Bowtech

My favorite hunt is the same as my saddest hunt. 2007 I pulled one of five tags for a bull elk hunt. It was my favorite hunt since my dad went along after not going for about 5 years. It was the saddest hunt because he has given up hunting and not been back out. Now my favorite hunts involve my daughters so I hope I am doing the same for them as my father did for me.

What do you gain by moving from an entry level bow to a high end set up
Red Sparky replied to apache12's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
So I am no archery expert but in my opinion I got a smooth accurate easy to shoot bow. I bought a new 2013 Hoyt Charger. I have no idea how fast it shoots since I increased the draw weight to 68#. I love it but I have not shot anything else but a PSE. I will not say one brand is better than another since I do not have the experience with other bows. It seems like you have the sight, rest, release?, and arrows for your draw weight and length. I bought my basic bow in 2013 for $549 and by the time I got done adding all the goodies it was just over $800. So the only reason I can see you upgrading is to get a smoother, more advanced bow that might increase your accuracy distance. Practice is the key and I am lucky to have set up a bow range in my back yard to 70 yards and shoot daily from March to October. I can group out to 70 yards but I got into bow hunting because I started stretching the muzzle loader out to 200 yards rather than under 100. -
Looks the same to me but it appears he broke off the crab claw. You can see a bump where it should be. The right antler G2 and main beam appear to both be the same length and mass in each picture. As J.S.R. stated the G2 on the left side appear identical.

That's his wife???? I thought we had a verified chupacabra sighting!

I have already killed two centipedes and on scorpion in my house this year. Waiting for the mosquitos.

Yeah a completely different time. When my older daughter was 5 I caught a bunch of 18-20 year old punks stealing our Halloween decorations. She confronted them with tears streaming about stealing her pumpkin she carved herself. I chased them with a baseball bat but they could run faster than I could. Probably a good thing so I would not have a police record.

I would give you information for here in NM that has a 100% success rate and you would not wear out your boots but I am not a "premier" member even though I meet the minimum 40 year old mark.

You seem to have this site mixed up with NAHC. I did not upgrade from "life member" to "premier member" there either.

I bought my daughter a brand new Diamond Infinity Edge by Bowtech for Christmas for $300. The only reason I would recommend this bow is it super adjustable. If you don't know your exact draw length this will adjust up to 30" draw length and up to I think a 70# draw weight. It comes with a starter sight and decent rest. I only had to buy her a release and arrows and she is up and shooting. I can adjust the bow to her as she grows. Get something that fits you or you will end up hating archery. I tried to go the used bow route and it didn't work out for me. Going to the pro shop and getting a bow properly set up for me made all the difference in the world but I always knew I wanted to bow hunt.

Well you all almost have me convinced to get rid of my 91 S-10 with the 4.3 and 240,000 miles, gets 20 mpg. The only thing I tow with it is a small trailer but it will tow my cj-5.

What? You took Coues sheds and made a Siameselope and Tabbylope? Maybe you had antler less tags? BTW..I have two indoor cats only. Feral cats are responsible for songbirds declining in cities.
-
I was at the Archery Shoppe in Albuquerque today. They buy antlers and I saw about 10 whites and only four rag horn browns. So people may be waiting or not finding much yet.

Interesting you mention that about coyotes and cats.....after hearing the report that they had a clinic for spay and neutering cats for free the other day at one of the vet clinics......last year they did 17,000 cats. They offered free traps for trapping stray cats to bring in and have them taken care of........we have become very soft in our feelings for animals and the coyote is a perfect predator for taking care of stray cats....17,000 cats spayed and neutered and then turned loose again???? Crazy!!! When I was an Animal Control Officer I took 25 cats off one property. I knew many ranchers close by that I could call and drop feral cats off at their barns to take care of mice. That way they got the mouse population taken care of without having to take care of the cats. They would lose cats to hawks, owls, and coyotes. One time I had a big mean tom in a trap on the way to a ranch way out of town and mother nature called. I stopped by a wash and that cat in the bed of the truck spitting and hissing called in 6 coyotes and me without my .222 Rem..

I thought he was talking about the Wild Turkey Federation having an impact on AZG&F.

The elk in my avatar I used a 250 grain ShockWave. One shot through the heart at 200 yards, he went about 20 yards before falling over. The ShockWave is close to the Hornady SST. If the gun will shoot them accurately should do fine. P.S.-The reason it was a 200 yard shot is I had him at 50 and the cap went off but not the charge. Followed him down a draw and had him at about 125 and the cap had fallen off the nipple. So sitting across a fallen tree I basically had a bench rest when I drilled him as far as I would shoot since I practiced out to 200 all the time.
