Good luck. The reason 23 seems easy to draw is because north of Mule Creek it is narrow and long. The deer/elk travel through between the AZ line and the other units. South it is mainly BLM/State/Private land. There are deer in there but it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Same with elk in that unit. This year I would look for a good permanent water source and start from there. I have the archery coues hunt there and the reason I do the archery hunt is I get the whole month of Sept. and 2 weeks in January. This year I am putting all my eggs in the January hunt.

I like the "new math" used. I agree that it can be done as I am looking at doing CO. archery for cow elk. I might be able to find a LO tag for a cow just as cheap and stay in state.

I hunt coues every year here in NM but I got the bug when I got the archery bug. So hunting them and killing them is a different story. Still time out in the woods beats time in the city working. I am thinking of starting to go to AZ for the OTC archery hunts.

Take the sight off your bow and shoot into a target up close, just practice on release. I shoot a caliper release like a back tension. Then once you have done this for a while put your sight back on and you are going to have to sight in again so you work on grouping instead of hitting the target, then you move your group to the target. Just keep working on your grouping and not if you are hitting the target or not.

For all those saying hauling water will help the wildlife need to look at what the horse population in Nevada does to the wildlife. Wild/ feral horses move onto a water tank and the stallion will keep deer, bighorn sheep, elk from watering until the horses leave. Tim Burnett and Remi Warren cover it on a episode of Solo Hunter podcast. So I don't know if these horses are as wild as the mustangs in Nevada but it may not help the wildlife in the way you think it will, sometimes the horses don't leave for two weeks to a month.

Yes I have the 722 in .222 Remington. That is a fair price and I would buy it except for the fact I already have the regular .222, reloading dies, and about 1000 rounds of ammo. The model 722 and 721 were actions like stated and the predecessor of the Model 700.

I also just stream. I have a ROKU TV and watch a lot of channels on the internet. Bowhunt or Die, Youtube, Carbon TV, Netflix and Amazon. They screw us, different geographic area, because if you go over a terabyte streaming they charge you bent over so we have to pay for unlimited data and the highest streaming rate they have. But we have 4 smart phones, 2 tv's, and 4 computers and they can all be running at once and no problem streaming. The thing I like about streaming is I can stop, replay, start or search for what I want to watch. There are also quite a few songs I just like one or two songs of a group so don't want to buy a whole album but can watch or listen to them anytime I want.

If it were me I would convert my generator to run off LP gas and not use gasoline. The LP tank set in the middle runs off both tanks at the same time. Really sucks when you run out because then you have no reserve. If you run off the left tank when it runs out you change to the right and refill the left tank or vice a versa.

If you twist a knee or ankle it helps. I use it like a girdle so I am thinner than the trees I hide by.

The north side of the mountain has thicker cover and usually cooler in the early hunts. This is where elk usually bed and then will come out to the open tops or south side to feed. There is less evaporation of water on the north side so you will find more wallows, especially if you can find a bench in the terrain.

They will have to find them. I build my own cameras so there are 3 parts, the flash, the PIR, and the camera. They work wirelessly with the PIR being the master and the flash and camera being the slaves. These can be placed about 50 yards apart and look nothing like a camera.
