I Support Wildlife--a good thing for our non-hunting buddies to get involved with!
Str8Shot replied to Capt. Don Martin's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Don I bought it too... As did a majority of the guys I hunt with ... What % of traffic on the G&F website is non hunters or anglers? I can understand the cost associated with conservation but I also know that many of the dollars are spent dicking with bureaucracy and certain salaries. Is there any real marketing of this off site and towards the demographic you are speaking too? Is the cost of even trying to Market to those individuals even going to help really generate revenue, or just run up the bill to the point that there is very little revenue being added? I guess those are the things I am really wondering about. -
Amazing how well a few drops of honey will work

PointGuard, good idea or money making scam?
Str8Shot replied to Capt. Don Martin's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Maybe you should not be putting in for out of state hunts that may interfer with your in state hunts if you draw ... Not once a lifetime ... Surrender this year have to take the tag the next year you draw... Bonus points reset to 0, 1 , or 2 depending on Hunt Ed and Loyalty .... you can do it again when you are ready ... It is not to complicated to figure out how it will be abused by some ... I already know someone who had 4 non hunters in the family banking points -
Question:Will lightning shut off the camera?
Str8Shot replied to Alpinebullwinkle's topic in Trail Cameras
Lightning does cause an EMP and could affect small electronics as well as many other electric systems ... It would have to be a pretty close strike ... There use to be a site you could see all the lightning strikes in the state by area, date, and numbers but not sure of the URL ... Since you have the date it stopped working, you could possibly see if there was activity in that area within 24 hours. As others have said things like humidity, temps and even low but not dead batteries could be possible causes as well. However, never forget about GREMLINS or the CORN BAGGER! -

Capt. Don Can you share where G&F is losing money in it's revenue stream? I am Born and raised in Arizona (42 years) In my lifetime I have seen nothing but huge increases in the numbers of hunters and anglers in this state. In the same time I have not seen what seems like a proportional increase in the number of G&F officers out in the field. Hunting - The numbers of tags have not declined significantly if at all in the last decade, the Cost of License, App Fees, and processing fee (a.k.a Bonus point) have all increased nearly 80 - 100% ... They have not been left with many un purchased tags through the left over process. Auction Tags have been selling at huge increase year after year... I guess there could be less small game and bird hunters out there these days but that has not been my experience either. Fishing - Has boomed , long gone are the days of having a quiet fishing trip in Arizona at least at 75% of lakes, streams and rivers ... That is a lot of increased revenue in Licenses alone which have also seen a pretty steady cost increase. Now you add on the Taxes for both Hunting and Fishing gear that the states receive back from the Feds in grants and with the steady increases of sales in those categories in this state ... I am having a hard time believing there has been any loss in those revenues either. Call these things what they all are TAXES .... programs like this, are just taxes by persuasion... tugging at the hearts and emotions of people. Some of the higher ups needed raises. -
Didn't get picked for leftover tag...
Str8Shot replied to newazhunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
What is not to believe ... The last 3 years The numbers of leftovers have dropped by about 60% from the main draw and the last 2 years there were almost no Leftovers available by Weds of the First come first draw ... No surprise anymore -
Didn't get picked for leftover tag...
Str8Shot replied to newazhunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Nope .... They got your app, it just means that all 44 tags were gone by the time they pulled your app out of the pile. The leftover tag game has changed the last couple years and you best have a second and third choice (third being a hunt with several hundred tags left) if you want to be assured anything. -
If a Border unit very well could be one of the several bleeding heart groups that put them out for illegals ... I would not be surprised if The Samaritans group works for the cartels based on some of the locations I have seen them drop their goods.

There would be no guessing if he was in range on any day of the hunt.

Trout ( Rainbow, Browns, and Now Tiger Trout ) some small mouth ... If from shore most will use power bait or night crawlers, but do not shy away from throwing rooster tails especially if you want a better chance at Tiger trout, browns , and Small mouth. If from boat trolling you can almost always limit with Crick Hoppers (Black w gold trim, Olive with Red or brown with Black)... Z rays and Super Dupers do well trolling as well.

Not a bad hunt at all, you should get some decent opportunities ... It is that in between hunt that usually sucks.

I've been drinking from that place for the last 31 years. Is it strong enough flow to fill the trailer through a hose this year? Hondah is the plan. About 5 weeks back it took about 10 - 15 minutes to fill two tanks one 50 gallon one 30

The Best place and the Best Water is from a Natural Spring That is always running and Pipped off the Turn for Big and Little Bear lakes about 15 miles east of Mcnary ... It is right off the road and I think it is 1 or 1 1/4 inch pipe .. So you need a female( 1 or 1 1/4 ) to male reducer that goes to your fill hose... Honda still works too

You want scenic and some off road ... or all well maintained and paved? Either way you would want to go through Young ...Then Take the 609 across and around Picture Mountain, to Pumpkin Center then east on the 188 to the Apache trail Turn Just past the dang, Or Further south on Young road to Across Road all the way across to the 188 then again east to the turn ... Or Young Road to the 188 Junction and west on 188 to The Turn ... All the same roads are there Just a lot more Pavement and a lot less camping on available on the shorelines of the lakes.
