Good video! I have been watching them on youtube as well. Is it easier now to get all the material locally? We are considering moving and if we do I want one of these instead of a grill, probably do both but I want an oven!
For those of you that built your own what is a rough estimate on cost? I know size and any ornate decorations can really add up but just a basic design estimate.
I think it is about the same. It is easier, the more you want to spend. I probably ending up spending $2,500 or so- doing the work myself.

More pix please.
I'll throw some up later today. in the mean time, here is a video of the general process of building it. Tons of fun, as projects go.

I love a good pizza. I just hate the $500 plane ticket back to Long Island that comes with it. LOL
I will go and say that Gus's in Tempe has the best crust and nice oily cheese I've found but the sauce is very bland. He says he is from NY but I have my doubts because he doesn't have anchovies. His reasoning is "this is Tempe".
Yup, pretty sure he's not going to see the pearly gates when he dies. LOL
Awesome. Currently, my favorite pizza is Pizzeria Locale in DT Phoenix. Thanks for the suggestion.

Very cool!!! Is this in your backyard? Do you have a pic showing the whole thing? I don't know anyone who built their own pizza oven, but what a fun idea. You should be able to bake bread in it too. I saw a show recently featuring some restaurant where they fire up an oven like that (but much bigger) in the morning and it holds enough heat all day to cook all kinds of things. And they schedule what they cook based on how it changes temperature during the day, so things that need the highest heat get cooked early in the day and lower heat later.
Yes, it's in my backyard. I'll get back and throw up a few more pics. I do bread, steaks, pizzas, roasted veggies, anything. I even dropped the temp and smoked a turkey in it.
It's my favorite thing in the backyard.

Location is important, but bait is also. I suggest just catching crawdads in the river and using as bait. Best option there is.

How many of you out there have a pizza oven? I built one a couple of years back, and it produces some incredible pizzas, as well as some absolutely amazing steaks. High heat, great meat right? Anyways, AJ's is having a sale on meats right now, where all of their good stuff is 1/2 off. I picked up a couple prime filet mignons and grilled them up tonite. Memorable flavor. wow.

I was hiking in Zion national park about 20 years ago. We did the Angel's landing hike. If anyone has done it, they know that there is a little knob, the "landing" where you can sit and see a straight dropoff of 1,000 feet or so in every direction. The squirrels are pretty bold on that little knob and I kicked one that was getting on my foot. He had quite a fall down. I felt bad about that, and a buddy of mine still gives me crap about it.

I'll second White Mountains. Best fishing in AZ.

Amazing how 'urban' they can be. I saw one at Cooper and Elliot in Gilbert. That's miles from any real open land.

Ocean Club. Nothing touches it.

I hunted cow in these units back several years ago. There was a bull hunt the prior week and I talked to the hunters about herd movements from camps. I did scouting prior, but its amazing how fast they move in a short period of time.
Good luck!

Hellsgate Wilderness near Little Green Valley. Mazatzals are in 22S also.
Be sure of your conditioning if you drop an Elk in there.
Totally. Really rough terrain.

I'll take a messed up draw every year in trade for the quality of animals arizona has potentially around every corner in every unit . It's easy to look at specific mess ups, and over look the big picture. I would give the honor to the az game and fish for us having the biggest representations of the critters we all like to hunt. Let them make the small mistakes in trade for the big rewards like receiving an arizona elk tag. There's a reason our tags sell for the most at auction!!!
haha. Sounds like you got drawn this year, eh?
-
That'd be great, but thinking it'll be next week.

Here's the deal: this issue has likely happened every year, but each successive year, technology pulls the veil back a bit so you see what is happening. I have managed larger databases than what they are working with. Trust me, it's not easy.

I bought a hundred replacement blades for my Havalon on ebay for a few bucks...if I even THINK a blade is getting dull, shuck it and go.
Is there a trick to this to ensure you get the real thing? Sounds like a great idea.
-
Oh, interesting. Do the blades rival the Havalon or the Outdoor Edge?
-
Brilliant, thanks fellas!

I heard from a friend of mine that one of his hunting buddies had a super sharp knife that was used specifically for field dressing animals- it was crazy sharp that used replaceable blades.
Any ideas what this is? Thinking what a long process it is, especially with an elk. Hoping for the opportunity to test out new gear this year, haha.

Make sure you call G&F and decline the charge....
Hilarious.

drew my 5th bull tag in 7 years!
where you going hunting this time?
-
Love the excitment here. It's like Christmas (ok- better than that) for those who have gotten drawn.

Wood Fired Pizza Oven
in The Campfire

Ha, I like to do both. A few years back, I had a goal to make my own pizza and brew my own beer. So I have beer on tap in my outdoor fridge most days, and pizza is just an hour away whenever I want it.
