Fish and game is asking for volunteers tuesday morning 3/6 at cholla to help distribute bags of crappie and florida strain bass babies any were you would like, other than your frying pan lol. Show up in your boat and fill your honey hole.

Went to Sunrise and Horseshoe on Friday the 4th and fish were biting good. Ice is about 4" with a lot snow on top and slushy. Had to walk a long way due to snow to get to horseshoe. Sunrise you park at the motel and walk down. Also fished Show low lake on Saturday, Ice was only 1" thick kinda scary, slow bite. Its been warming up lately up there so be careful.

Just spent Labor Day weekend fishing Reservation and Big Lake. Never seen the lakes so bad, Low water and algae bloom real bad. Big lake you cant even troll its so bad. Did catch fish on the Rez lakes but no size to them. Going back up to listen to the ELK bugle and slay some more trout next week.

Hey in October are there smallmouth there. I thought they migrated down river that time of year according to they guys that man the pump station by point of pines? Ive been fishing at ten of diamonds late in the year and the smallies are gone.

Found bait balls 20 to 30 and fish all a round them but couldnt get them to bite. Tried spoons ,crappie jigs, and drop shot?

Went fishing at Takali Lake Friday all day and never got bit. Fished for Bass and crappie, but nothing. Went to Roosevelt saturday and picked up 9 bass suspended in 10 to 20 ft with crankbaits . Tried crappie riggs for half the day deep and shallow and nothing

Was up there on New years week end and Big Lake was frozen 4-6" and I fished it,out of south cove ramp. Went to Reservation lake same day and it was 1/3 iced over. There were several people fishing on the ice at the dam. Didnt look safe enough for me though. Havent been up there since though.

Why dont you read the high country fishing forum a few days before this report. Big lake and Crecent are not ice free. We ice fished big lake on south cove ramp 500 yards out on the ice.

New years weekend on Big lake and Reservation lake.Frozen almost solid. Ice fished on big lake at south ramp in about 15 foot of water, caught a 3 pound brown, sorry no pictures.Went to Reservation lake same day and ice was a little unsafe with half open water. Did catch some real nice rainbows. Next day went and put my boat on Lyman lake and caught some nice Walleyes. Very little snow up there , roads are all accessible as of Jan 1.

Just got back on Tuesday from a four day trip at wooden cross. Its just down river a ways from the pump station. Caught quite a few in the 2 to 3 pound class and alot of smaller ones. Had one bear encounter at camp and two more while fishing the river. Had a great time, but you have to put in the extreme hiking to find the waters that the bigger fish live.

Thank You Dan for the encouraging reply , that is a great lake to fish. Have been catching crappie and catfish out of san carlos lake here lately. Will make a trip over to talkalai maybe this weekend. Rick H.

Whats the safety factor now days? Use to in the past you better have enough friends along with you to stave off the natives or be packin. Vehicles vandalized while out fishing in your boat , etc. And no Game wardens or police presence around.

Went yesterday, Sunday the 28th. Launched at soda canyon, nice launch plenty of water. Never got a bite!!! Got on the water around 10am and worked it hard for crappie deep , shallow and everything in between. Tried catfishing from 2pm to almost dark around the dam area and up willow cove. Nothing. Their was one other boat out there all day also from Safford. They never got a bite. Did see schools of carp on the surface and heard them jumping in the brush. Lake looks GOood , hope they leave some water in it this time, and maybe the fishing will return.
