I've been wondering about that. Holiday weekends have to be huge for economies like Payson. The impact of a closure could be bad for them, even though I believe most residents would be all for it. Its worth it. Close it down. Or build a bypass!!!

Craig Steele had a bunch of pictures of bulls killed in 2012. Pretty impressive for a dry year. the same guy that posts rain totals around the state every year for where to put in for elk....Correct, but those were some big bulls in a dry year. Im definitely not saying rain doesnt help. its just kinda funny to me, like ive always said when the rain is good the guides try to make tag holders feel like they better not squander their tag and hire someone. now its dry and its the same thing. I personally think it takes more than one dry year to see a major impact. I dont kill big sh!t to begin with so my feelings arent hurt as bad as others.

Havent had mine out yet. I will be using 12s and a swaro 65 spotter. I think I will sell my 10s next year and replace them with 15s. Doesnt feel right not owning 15s.

Hiking in before light! Scare them off?
cjl2010 replied to stanley's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Another thing, is it better to hike in the dark and walk past all the deer, or start hiking at gray light and glass as you go? We all know coues are up for most of the day. -
One thing I was looking at last night. The 260 terminator, 35° improved with a stepped throat, shows a max charge of 53gn rl26 using a drop tube and seated at 2.97. 6.5sst has a 30° shoulder and a max load of 54-55gn of rl26 seated at 2.800. 6.5sst has the option of h1000, which is supposed to be a cooler burning powder but Im not sure how well that slow powder will work in a 22 barrel. 6.5sst also has a neat option to be a reduced load with h4895, which would essentially take it down to creedmoor speeds with super low pressure. 6.5 sst also as the option of being throated to seat bullets out longer. Its 2.8 coal is setup for prs guys. Lapua brass is a real winner but my current lot of ADG brass for my creedmoor is super consistent and seems to hold up well after only 5 firings. Sst will have ADG brass available this summer.
