    Lightweight Build

I have a Boyds laminate, and drilled two holes in the butt stock using a 5/8 inch diameter drill bit, it now weighs about the same as a synthetic stock with full alum bedding block , it made a noticeable difference. Awesome! I appreciate the info as I am planning on doing something similar. I've been really wanting to start the build. I may just have to order the barrel and reamer on a credit card to scratch the build itch now.

    Ruby Rd/36B Confrontation

Sorry you had to deal with these disrespectful A-holes on your 36B hunt....hopefully I don't have to deal with them or anyone like them on my post Thanksgiving 36B hunt. I plan on hiking in a couple miles from any road, so that should greatly minimize my chances of dealing with this lazy road hunter type of crap!

    "Good to a thousand" mentality??

On my hunting trip to Wyoming my buddy and I had some a-holes blow a stock for us by thinking they were "good to 1000". We we glassing and saw 4 bucks bed in this little cut. We spent about 1 hour putting a stock on the deer. We made it to just before the top of a small ridge where we intended to set up for a shot that would have been about 200 yards. We took our packs off to get ready to crest the ridge. We were about to work into a shooting position when a shot rang out, followed by 6 more shots. The shots were coming from across a valley on top of a peak. We could tell by the sound of the shot they were shooting right towards us.....we could hear what sounded like the bullet breaking sound barrier before we heard the muzzle blast. It really pissed us off. They had to know we were there. We were wearing orange and clearly in their line of sight. the bucks busted out of there. About 30 minutes later we went over the saddle where the bucks had busted out and saw someone on the other side had just taken one of the bucks. He confirmed the buck was with 3 others. Buck would have scored over 190". It made me sick.

    Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Antelope Meatloaf

Finished product. It was really tasty. Pictures don't do it justice.
  9. I have made this before, but tonight added bacon to the top of the meatloaf. Here are the ingredients: 2 lbs ground antelope (10% suet) Thick cut deli bacon (partially cook the bacon) Capers Artichoke hearts Bleu cheese Spinach leaves Copped olives Chopped tomatoes 1 egg Lipton onion soup mix In a large mixing bowl, mix the antelope, chopped olives, bleu cheese, capers, Lipton soup mix and egg. Place wax paper on a large cutting board. Spread the antelope mixture on the wax paper into a large rectangle. You want to spread it thin, but not so thin that it falls apart when you roll it. Once you have the meat mixture spread out, line the top with spinach leaves, bleu cheese, pine nuts, capers and tomatoes. Start at one of the long ends of the spread out meat mixture and roll it into a pinwheel around the spinach and other toppings. Continue to roll until all the toppings are inside the outer meat layer. Use your hands to squeeze the meatloaf around the edges and make sure all edges are sealed. Lightly spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray. Place the meatloaf on the cookie sheet. Line the top of the meatloaf with partially cooked bacon. Cook on 375 until the meat is done. It will take about 45 minutes. Eat and enjoy. I will post a picture of the final result. It is in the oven cooking as I type.

Definitely going to be trying this with either elk or antelope roasts. The wife just picked up the rest of the ingredients today.

    Lightweight Build

I've definitely considered a #3 fluted barrel but something keeps bringing me back to the Proof Barrel. The Timney Calvin Elite was my other consideration for triggers. I am pretty sure the rifle will end up with McMillan stock, but I will probably start with the laminate stock so I can shoot it and do load development while waiting for the McMillan to be built. So many dang choices. Ultimately I want the rifle finished with scope at 7.5 lbs. Are you planning on 22 or 24" barrel for your build?

    freezer type

I had a chest and got tired of digging for meat. I just bought an upright this year and kept the chest too. The chest went with me to Wyoming. I used it to haul my meat home. I ran it with a generator in the back of my truck.

    Wyoming Hunt Complete

Just returned from Wyoming hunting with my buddy, Kevin, who lives in Casper. It was a good trip. We had his cow elk tag to fill near Cody. We each had a general deer tag near Buffalo. He had a buck and doe antelope tag and I had a couple of antelope doe tags near Casper. We hunted all over the state and had less than 2 weeks to get it all done and get the meat processed before I returned to Arizona. I took a few photos, but as always, wish I would have taken more. It is easy to forget when you are wrapped up n the moment. Here was my glassing set up which also worked well as a shooting platform when I shot my buck: The first pic is where we watched my buck bed. We waited him out for hours before he got up to feed. The second pic is me and the buck. The Creedmoor did well. The buck took 2 steps and piled up, tumbling down the hill about 10 yards. Kevin's buck. We packed his buck out 2.5 miles to the truck the day before I had to head back to Arizona. My buck wasn't so bad, had to pack mine out 1.5 miles in the dark on opening day. We had limited time to hunt the antelope. We were leaving for Cody on a Thursday morning. We had to do some last minute work on Kevin's rifle and loads on Wednesday afternoon. We went out Wednesday late afternoon and dropped his buck and my 2 doe within 40 yards of each other. We were skinning, gutting and hauling the animals to the truck until 10:00 pm, got a little sleep, then took the antelope to the processor on our way out of town to Cody for Kevin's cow elk. Only pictures of the antelope are at the processor: We were able to hunt Kevin's Elk with private property access on Carter Mountain near Cody. It was a really fun hunt. We glassed up a lot of really nice Bulls, but Kevin only had a cow tag. He settled on the 2 year old pictured below. He shot it right before dark. We got it quartered out after it was dark. The hair will stand up on the back of your neck a little bit when you think about the fact that you have an elk quarter in your pack, it is dark and you are in heavily populated grizzly country. There were 2 grizzly attacks already this season. And the final pic is just showing the fruits of my labor....or in this case, the meats:

    Lightweight Build

Looked at Manners website. I didn't see that they inlet for a Model 7 on their stock builder. I will try to contact them. Chances are I will start with the thumbhole that I already have and try to lighten it up a bit. Then as I can save a little more money I will replace the stock.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I think that may be the way to go. 3x15-42 with lockable turret.

    Lightweight Build

I am going to see how I like the rifle with the laminated thumb hole after I remove some of the wood from behind the thumb hole. If the rifle is heavier than I want at that point, I will go with a McMillan. I am trying to do this on somewhat of a budget. Regarding the Zeiss Conquest, the only ones I have seen in person had a capped elevation turret, which I don't mind. But, the turret adjustment itself is not numbered and the hash marks are hardly identifiable. Do they have a different turret option that I have not seen? I like the scope a lot and think it is a lot of bang for the buck in a light weight package and will be higher quality than the Vortex.

    Hand held primer issues

I never had this much problem before. Can you educate me on this uniform procedures ?I use the Lyman case prep in the photo below. Only uniform primer pockets 1 time.I have RCBS case prepper but it doesn't have a primer pocket device. Can I order one that will attach to it?I am pretty sure you can. If you have the case prep shown in the picture than I am sure you can order the primer pocket uniformer also shown below. Sportsman's Warehouse probably has them in stock and the thread pattern should be the same for the Lyman or RCBS.

I like it, although I don't have much to compare to. I just started reloading about 4 months ago and have used it since I started. It does the job it was intended to do and seems to speed up the process a bit.

    6.5 creedmoor powder choice

That is about my load. 41.4 grains of H4350 at 2745 FPS. To the OP, if you can't find any H4350, I'll give you a pound. I think I have about 6.5 lbs, so I can spare a little until I can find some more.

    I need a truck.!

My brother has a 2004 F350 diesel long bed 4x4 with 80,000 miles on it. He just bought a new Dodge, so I think he is looking to sell it. He is in San Siego though.
