Looks like in the words of AC/DC, you are "On A Highway to He||". Mash the gas pedal and enjoy the ride.

24B Coues, early December hunt.

Anybody using this device for annealing or have any experience with it? http://www.annealeez.com/dbprod/annealeezannealer.asp

Loaded up some 150 Berger Classic Hunters. Crazy how much shorter these are than other bullets I've tried. With these 150's, I am touching the lands at 2.253 CBTO, which is 2.804 COL. I loaded them up at .020 OTL, which will allow this round to easily magazine feed and give me some seating depth options.

No, it is the 7mm bullet, the 150 gr Classic Hunter. It is a hybrid tangent/secant ogive design the is supposed to be insensitive to seating depths. G1 BC is only .505

I just picked up some Berger 150 gr Classic Hunters. These bullets are short compared to everything else I have tried, so it should allow me to use more of my case capacity while still being able to magazine feed. I have searched online for load data with these bullets, but no luck. My Berger reloading manual doesn't have any load data for the 150 gr out of the 7mm SAUM. Does anyone have a Berger reloading manual that wouldn't mind sharing min. and max. loads using H4831sc? Thanks in advance.

This coming season will be my first to hunt with a muzzle brake. For those of you that have hunted with one, are you using hearing protection? If so, what type, which brand, how do they work, etc.? I looked at the Soundgear and a couple others, but dang those are expensive.

Sweet. My card was hit. Looks like I'll be hunting Coues this year. Now the wait to find out which unit.

I like the idea of a cot and was actually thinking about one. I think sleeping off the ground with little sacrifice in pack weight would be key. I have been looking at the Helinox Cot Lite. With your Western Mountaineering bags, it looks like they are goose down. Do you know if they are treated down, or do you need to be extra careful not to get them wet? The bags look really nice and are light weight, so I think this may be a great option. I am thinking the Versalite 10 degree bag.

I went to Usery Mountain yesterday to do my barrel break in. I like the range because it is less than 15 minutes from my house, so it is convenient. I arrived before they opened to get my targets set up before the range went hot the first time. Some guys showed up next to me while the range was "hot" the first time. They proceeded to get their SKS rifle out with no targets set up. They then proceeded to rapid fire the SKS, hitting my target with 5 rounds. I didn't know they hit my target at first because I was busy cleaning my rifle between shot strings. I was pissed to say the least and let them know about it. The group on the other side of me pulled out their arsenal of AR15's and let the lead fly. Their spent casings were raining on me while I was trying to shoot. I asked them to set up a net, but there weren't any more nets available. It was annoying. My targets were being pelted all day with rocks and debris that were being sent my way from other shooters. Frustrating. I was all cleaned up and ready to shoot my last 5 shots and just waiting for the range to go hot again. I wasn't paying attention to the guys next to me while the range was cold, I was busy organizing my shooting gear and cleaning supplies. When the range went hot, I stepped up to the bench to shoot my last string and realized the guys next to me set up a target at 50 yards directly in front of my target. I had to sit on the sidelines until the range went cold then hot again. I was pissed and let these idiots know about it. This day was completely frustrating. I need to go through the process of becoming a member and shooting in their competitions so I can get on their 500 yard range. I really have no interest in competitions, I just want a place that is shaded, close to my house and has a solid shooting platform.

I have white appliances free to someone that needs them; a dishwasher, over range microwave and gas range. All appliances work, I just upgraded to black stainless. I am located in East Mesa. Text me if interested and I can send pics. Gerrit 760-212-1102

All appliances are gone and spoken for

Well said and I get why the RO's are the way they are. I became used to their rules early on when shooting at Usery and never had an issue with the RO's.....although I have seen them over react to others quite a few times. My biggest issue with Usery Mountain is the idiots there shooting.....just not my scene. I have been up to Jim Jones each of the last 2 weekends and it was a pleasure to shoot there. Well worth the extra hour for me to get there, cooler temps, and more consistent with the elevations I hunt. Now if they could just expand it to 500+ yards.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I'll go with something similar to what Cliff uses. I can't justify spending the money on something like Soundgear....not yet anyways. Until all my glass is top tier and I have a custom rifle in all calibers from .264 to .338, I will go the inexpensive route on this. I shot my braked rifle for 2 rounds w/o hearing protection when I first picked it up in Wyoming, the ringing ears were enough to know I wont do it again......unless a deer or elk of a lifetime jumps out in front of me unexpectedly and there is no other choice.......heck, I don't like most sh!t I hear anyways.

I definitely will.

So it looks like a member is picking up the dishwasher tomorrow and another member is picking up the rest of the appliances tomorrow as well. I will repost if they do not follow through and anything is still available after tomorrow.

I figured I would add some pics as there has been a couple requests. I also am giving away the refrigerator. My ex-wife's co-worker was supposed to pick it up today, but never called or showed up. The refrigerator does have an ice maker and filtered drinking water. Everything works.

No buck tag, but 2 antelope doe tags for me in 73. I'm all about hunting meat, so I am happy.

A bunch of it available online with a quick search.

When I was working loads for my 6.5 Creedmoor and was having issues shooting the 129 ABLR, I seem to recall him telling me he has trouble with the ABLR's. That said, I later found the issue to be with one of the action screws being too long and rubbing on the bolt lug. By the time I figured out the issue I had already switched to the Berger 140 VLDH, so I stuck with that. I never went back and tried the 129 ABLR after I fixed the action screw issue. I think I may try to work up a load for them later and see how they work.

I appreciate that Lance. I am gonna give the 145 LRX's a shot and I just ordered some Berger 175 elite hunters that I will try as well.

Here is Sig's 10 mm. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p220-hunter-full-size.html I am also considering a 10mm sidearm while hunting. I was thinking about this Sig, but as was already said, I like the capacity and weight of the Glock and will probably go that direction. From what I have researched it is a good idea to swap the barrel and recoil spring if you intend to shoot the heavy loads like Buffalo Bore or others.
-
The barrel is a 1:9 twist, so I should be ok with the 175 Berger Elite. Sportsman's had some Barnes 145 LRX in stock. I am gonna load some of these. They recommend loading .050 OTL. I measured CBTO with this bullet loaded to the lands at 2.268, which has a COAL of 2.892. If I load them to Mag length at 2.825 (reliable feeding with no damage to the tips) I will be at .067 OTL, which is pretty close to Barnes recommendation. This Barnes LRX is more of a tangent ogive, so I think seating depths won't be as sensitive as the ELDX was. I'll be giving up quite a bit in BC, but at my typical shooting range, it is not going to matter.
-
Researching the Berger 175 elite hunter, it looks like those are also a hybrid design secant/tangent ogive and less sensitive to seating depth. Think I'll give these and the 145 LRX a shot
-
I've been researching bullets that are not as sensitive to seating depth it looks like the Berger Classic Hunter may fit the bill as well as th Barnes 145 LRX. I've read some really good reviews on the LRX and how it performs on game. It has really good weight retention. The BC's are not all that great, but should do just fine at hunting distances. I think I am gonna give these and the Berger Classic Hunters a try.
