If you are close to a REI store they usually have size 14 on hand that is what I wear The boots i prefer are zamberlan gtx they are that most comfortable i have ever tried. I tried kenetrek and couldnt even walk around cabelas with them arches were to high for my liking.

never shot a animal that far. as far as cold bore first shot hits at distances further than say 850 yards they take a few shots with good data for me. I went and shot a silouete style gong at 1320 yards and was unable to make contact with the 6.5 but it took 5 shots to get it with the 338 lapua. it seems for me that after about 700 yards it may take a sighting shot or two. I took a cow elk at about 460 first shot hit and kill and a coues at 540 first shot hit and kill. the first year i had a tag in my pocket after filling my head on this web site of how to shoot long range was 7 clean misses leading to alot of practice and learning and purchase of equipment to make correct calculations

I have been shooting distance for a few years now and was in a discussion on caliber/bullet weight and accuracy at distance. This last weekend we went out and were shooting at 1320 yards we noticed that the 6.5 creedmoor was having a hard time hitting the large sillouette and we swaped to the 338 lapua and hit it. I was curious what the effective accurate range that should be expected for different rounds? Lets have it.

lets talk effective distance for caliber/bullet weight
Tac replied to Tac's topic in Long Range Shooting
with the right trjectory and correct shot placement i,m sure a two mile shot and kill is possible. 😉 I,m not able to do it with the one i own but i,m sure some one could with a stroke of luck and the hand of God assisting. -

the transonic speed is a good explanation of and happens with my load about the distance that i,m questioning. the drop on the 338 is 562.2 inch and the 6.5 is 683.6 inch that is right at the end of the dial up on my scope to rifle thats why i didnt try and shoot at a mile due to running out of adjustment on the scope. I need to add some angle to the mount to accomplish a mile. I have been succcesful with both these guns to the 950 yard area i just wanted to see how far i can stretch my abilities. and 1320 was the end of adjustment that both my scopes were able to do and it was a good test of my abilities. -

ok so lets add high bc heavy end for caliber and add that to it I have done some research and it seems that all the southwest national guys in the open class seem to choose 284 winchester. -
there are some nice deer in that area enjoy the time it will be worth it

Population of people moving here would probably have more to do with it than anything. When I was a kid here in Az my father and his friends tagged out opening morning most years in A area I haven’t seen a deer in years due to so many people using it for recreational purposes.

I like zamberlan you can try them on at REI. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. When most guys are tearing off their boots at the end of the day I still like the way mine feel.

I feel for you on the non lead bullet development. I spent a few months trying to develope a good shooting non lead bullet for a rifle i have and they just never performed to my expectations. I,m sure that with a barrel change they would improve but the gun shoots the other stuff really well. If i have to go to non lead in that gun I will try again but after a rebarrel.

They were pretty popular cars. Not much power but popular with people who wanted a car that looked sporty. The 289 only had 210 HP which was way out classed by cars like the Chevelle, GTO, 442 etc. Hi Performance parts like intake manifolds, headers cams were more expensive than ones for say small block Chevys that came from the factory with up to 165 more HP. "Back in the day" you needed to put close to $1000 into the engine alone just to match what the other manufacturers were selling off the showroom floor. You are right in that assesment of back in the day but the mustang still managed to outsell the others by a large margin. Go figure enough power and sporty looks are what the majority usually buy.

check out darn tough they offer alot of options for style and thickness.

I wear darn tough wool sock year around. Bridgedale sock liners as soon as my hunting boots go on and they are the most comfortable shoes and sock set up i own. I dont like synthetics due to odor but like all the other qualities. When I hunt I wear kuiu merino wool it seems to work well in all situations for me.

I bought a few 2 for my 22's and one for my 338 lapua it is a harvestor big bore the other is a hybrid and i do not wear ear pro with any of them and recoil is near non existant as well on all my rifles. The best shooting accessory I have ever purchased! and in addition my rifles are more accurate.
