Try some from Schnee's. I like the ankle support on mine. If you find some you like they can rebuild them when you wear em out. Great CS too. Give them a call and tell them what your after.

I picked up a Triclawps and put it on my tall Outdoorsmans with a Sirui VA-5. I Shot pretty good with it this past weekend from a seated position. I understand the limitations of the platform but think I can do better in terms of tripod stability. Looking at the Slik CF-834 (or 733/734) and wondering if it will be more stable. Anyone using this tripod with a Triclawps? What other options should I be looking at?

Imo best pattern is ASAT. I mostly wear solids. Wrangler outdoor pants, woolly merino, Pendleton wool shirts. But I'm cheap.

My dad and I drew the rifle hunt for Oct 9-13. What I know so far: Its been a good wet spring and the big burn from a couple years ago should be looking pretty good. Deer herd is doing very well and over population goals. Considered a meat hunt by most. Lots of road hunters We're going to arrive a few days early to scout and do a little trout fishing. We want to come back with some memories and I'd like to get my dad a quality buck. I have a some spots picked out both in and out of the burn. Anyone hunted it before or know the area? Please PM me if you care to throw a bone my way.

I've done two model 70s. Got aluminum pillars from Ernie the gunsmith and cut them with a harbor freight mini chop saw that I use for cutting arrows. Bore out the action screw holes, devon them in and your good to go.

I hunted it a couple years ago. Was there for two weeks. Think I only ran into 2-3 other hunters on foot. A lot of guys sitting tanks all day. Saw one giant and dozens of smaller bulls. I hunted right out of camp everyday, never had a problem finding bulls. Go up on opening weekend of archery deer and you'll get a glimpse of what it looks like the first week of your hunt.
