Kaibab archery Cow Buffalo - aug 12th---25th

Going to where the buffalo are means you are going into the park to hunt. The conseqences of that probably wouldn't be good!! It's the only hunting you will do where you are hunting them where they don't live, hoping they come to you. All the salt licks are close to the park- like 1/2 mile or less. If I had 30 points I would put in for the long spring hunt, hold out for a nice bull, and cooperate with everyone else involved. Doing it rogue will mean you will be going home empty handed. Raymond ranch is like shooting a moo cow on a farm. My 2cents.

Kaibab archery Cow Buffalo - aug 12th---25th

I'll play devil's advocate here. I hunted bison in the July 29-Aug 11 hunt so am not just spouting off. Russ puts out 6000# of salt /year, sets up blinds on them and puts hunters in them whether you pay him or not. He's a licensed guide who pays all the fees to parks, forest service, etc. He pays insurance on his operation. He spends 150 days/year on the Kaibab doing his thing with the bison. Tell me why hunters who pay for his service shouldn't get priority over the freeloaders. That's the way it works.

    freezer for cow bison

Heading up to Kaibab next week. I plan on taking a chest freezer with me due to the logistics of meat care up there. Any idea of minimum size it would take to fit 4 quarters and misc meat in bags ? Adult cow bison,

2 week cow hunt end of july

Thanks for the info guys. As my hunt draws closer , I keep hearing from guys that have been hunting the spring hunt (e-mails...we all have a list of those drawn). It seems to me that the only way to consistently be successfully is for all hunters to cooperate w. each other and get together each morning so everybody knows what each is doing, then sit on salt/water. All it takes is one maverick driving roads to ruin it for everybody for the 2 weeks we have.. Different from any hunting I have ever done for sure, and not what I pictured when I put in for the draw. One thing for sure, a good number of those 600 or so bison have to be taken out.

    Big Lake and Sunrise

yellow or brown/copper tone seemed best but people all over were catching fish- not sure it matters. Fishing was great from boat and shore!

    Big Lake and Sunrise

My son and I just got back from a combo turkey hunt/ fishing trip up there. Big Lake was on fire. Troll a Crickhopper or Rebel Crawdad and limit out in 1-11/2 hr. on nice football shaped rainbows. Hope it's not windy for you.

    youth pheasant hunt

Jan 30 was a great day for my grandson Ryan. He was chosen for the youth pheasant hunt near Mayer through his hunter ed class. Many thanks for SCI for making this a great day for kids. Safety review, trap shooting, free lunch, and a chance to hunt pheasants. His smile says it all!

    youth pheasant hunt

Ours was 8:30 Many thanks to all the volunteers as well. To anybody who has a kid who gets picked for this-don't pass it up. It's at least a $500 day if you had to pay to duplicate all they do for you.

    Another ram in Northwest Arizona!

Regarding 15b west, I hunted there in 2010, using Don as my guide/outfitter. I got a ram on day 15 which would disappoint many hard core trophy hunters who can't handle life if they don't shoo an animal with a certain score. My ram is on my office wall and represents 15 days spent looking at over 200 sheep and 56 rams. It represents memories which will never go away. About Don- totally ethical and hard working. Will put in whatever time it takes to get you the best hunt possible. Just my 2cents worth.

    San Carlos Antlerless elk

Well I just spent two awesome days scouting on the res, and must say it was well worth it just to be among all those bugling bulls. I had 8 bulls screaming a each other in a basin, with a 375 ish at 60 yards.. Too bad I have a cow tag. Still exciting, and I 'm not out $30,000!

    San Carlos Antlerless elk

Hey everybody- I'm new to cw.com but was wondering if anybody out there has hunted the San Carlos Res for cow elk. I got a tag for Oct 30- Nov 8 later this month. I'm making my first scouting trip up there end of this week. Can anybody get me headed in the right direction? I've been to SC at least 20 times going in to Black River and turkey hunting and can honestly say I've never seen an elk there. Am planning on starting my scouting at Dry Lake. Thanks.
