For anyone thinking of getting into trading in this beaten down market, do not even consider the Think or Swim platform offered by TD Ameritrade. I actually love the flexibility and platform when it works but on heavy volume days, it's worse than useless. It will cost you lots of money and they may even be intentionally stealing money.

Duh, that isn't what I said. I'm guessing that he did in fact know exactly where he was but if they could prove that, they would have almost certainly included that in the statement. My point was that the statement Mr Thirsty keeps using to prove that he knew where he was, doesn't show that at all. If it does say something like that somewhere in the documents, then use that information instead.

It's a factual statement in a guilty plea. Of course it says that. What it doesn't say though is that he "knowingly" killed it on the rez and that is a big difference.

C'mon Flatlander, are you seriously trying to compare the deaths of people that were killed by forces that were not immediately obvious to a death caused by someone actually driving into a raging river? Sign or not. These are not even close to being the same type of scenarios.

I'm curious how people feel about the non bridge issue. I don't know squat about the history of the town but when people/ranchers or whatever began to populate the area on the east side of the river, at what point does it become the responsibility of the local, state or federal government to build a bridge? I'm guessing that wash has been flooding after heavy rains long before anyone ever lived there. A news report stated the proposal to build the bridge has been around for years but the federal funding for the 20M bridge has never been approved.

Agree 100%! That will never happen. If the prosecutor wants him/them to do that much time, and the facts are anything close to what I believe them to be, I will personally put up 5K to help with atty fees.

Driving around a barricade is not the same as driving on a snow covered road. There is no longer the expectation of safety at that point. If you choose to cross a closed river, you are assuming the responsibility. It's a no win deal now. This is one of those cases the prosecutor probably pukes over. No bragging about it.

As cold as it sounds, IMO, the charges seem appropriate. He drove around a barricade into a flooded wash and no matter how good or honorable his intentions were, those actions resulted in the loss of 3 children. The whole situation is horrific and this seems to be one of those cases where there is absolutely ZERO upside to any legal action and prison time will not benefit the the families, himself or society. Unfortunately, no upside to a prosecution doesn't mean you automatically get a pass.

A lot of your anger seems to be related to how the two cases had such different outcomes. It would be interesting to see both of the pre-sentencing reports side by side. I really don't have an opinion to lean either way. I am definitely not about to tell someone else how to run their business. If they want to keep him on, that's a business decision that they have to make and live with. I definitely wouldn't hold it against them if they let him go. Will it preclude me from calling Matt when I draw a 13B archery tag? Nope. (Probably call Larry first though) It looks like he broke the law, was caught and is now paying for it. Where you personally draw the line is up to you. If he's married, should he lose his wife over it? Should his family disown him? Should he be shunned by his brother? If you think he should have received a harsher punishment, so be it. If you want to change the system, nothing wrong with trying. While it does seem that he got off easy, I don't know the facts of the case and my opinion means absolutely nothing anyway. Food for thought, if an outfitter hires Blake in xx# of years, are they a corrupt outfit for doing so?
