Must not be in Arizona. I shot one 2 years ago and the game and fish found it before I did and would not let me tag it.

I just read that the grey wolf had been taken off of the federal protection list, and now the individual states have control of them. Now lets see what our republican lead Arizona leaders will do. I will bet that the tree-huggin' AZGFD keeps the program going.

The article I read said the Obama administration had taken the grey wolf off of the endangered list and would leave the western states to manage them on their own. I did more research and found you are right. Why would it be just for the northern states? Probably because They pushed for it. Arizona is happy with the way things are apparently.

Sad to say, but it doesn't surprise me at all. I was watching a show last night called Wardens on one of the hunting channels about wardens in Montana. A guy was hunting in the wrong unit and was given a warning when he showed that he had gotten mixed up. I told my son, what do you think would have happened in Arizona. A bunch of Barney Fife jerks who have evolved into a bunch of Hitler acting power hungry maggots. It's all about the money and how much they can steel from us. The AZGFD has nothing to do with game management it is about cushy jobs and the millions they can collect.

2010 Unit 10 December Archery deer hunt.

I have gone from being a strong supporter of the azgfd to a man who hates everything about them. Absolute power corrupts. I hunt in other states when I can and will do more from now on. I wouldn't help an agent if his hair was on fire. I hope to come across one broke down sometime. I wouldn't help him no matter what. They have turned it into an "us against them" situation. If you support the azgfd you support absulute corruption. I know I will catch heck for this post but after dealing with them for the last 45 years I am against everything they have become. And I will tell you that they don't give a dang about the hunter and sportsman, it's about their job and how much money they can pile up. -
2010 Unit 10 December Archery deer hunt.

Show me the rule that says that while tracking your elk, if a game officer finds it first then he gets to keep it. I would think that if he was really worried about the law, he would have let me tag it so I wouldn't go out and kill another one. I don't care how good of a hunter you are you are going to have weather or other problems arrise while tracking an animal. I would think that the Game and Fish would be their to help instead of taking your animal then instead of having you tag the animal and stop hunting, they would rather make money in the antler auction. I bet if it would have been a small rack I would have been given the chance to claim it. On top of the whole story, the meat was still good when they found it that morning and all the took was the head. It was cold and it had been just over night. -

You got that right. They made an enemy out of me that day. After that I wouldn't even help one, even if they were broke down. In the past I have always tried to do the right thing. I alway called them if I saw something out of the ordinary. Not anymore. I will just go hunting and keep my nose out of anyones business. Not My Worry! -

Same thing happened to me on my 3a 3c elk hunt two years ago. Only difference was that it was the next morning after a very bad lightning storm sent us running for shelter. The next morning we resumed the tracking for the 330 class bull I had shot a little high. While serching the next morning we had a game warden (I have his name) ask us how things were going, and I said not to well, and that I had shot a bull the evening before and was still looking for it. He asked me to describe it because another hunter had called in and found it. I told him it was a 6x6 around 330 to 340 in score. He had a picture on his phone of it and kept pressing on a description. All I knew was that I had only a few seconds to decide if he was big enough for me to harvest and I let the arrow fly. He finally showed me the picture and asked where I had hit it. It so hapened that the bull he found was hit in the same spot. He then took me to the carcus and showed it to me. I told him I was sure it was my bull. Well when they found it that morning they had cut the head off and took it back to the office. I asked if I could tag and keep the antlers. He said He could have if I could have described them to him. You see it had an abnormally thick 3rd on the right side. I explained I didn't notice because I was on his left side. It didn't matter to him he told me tough luck, but he would e-mail some pictures of the rack and he could find out when the auction was so I could buy them. I don't think I should expand on what I said next, but if the antlers ever made it to the location I told him to he could place them, he would have a very hard time walking or sitting. -
AZGFD still releasing wolves in Arizona.
hawkeye posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The tree huggers of the AZGFD don't even realize they are working themselves out of a job. They just can't quit waisting the money we supply them. When there is no more game to hunt, where do they think their money will come from. They are still releasing wolves in eastern Arizona. Another is schedules for release in the next few weeks. I never thought our own Arizona Game and Fish Dept. would work so hard against the hand that feeds it. The deer and elk in eastern arizona will never recover and it is just a matter of time before permits are reduced to a very small amount. I guess they figure we are so dumb, that they can still make it on the application fees. They are probably right. They will probably increase the application fee to 30 or 40 dollars and we sill still keep applying for the few permits available. The deer and elk cannot survive the triple threat. People, lions, and wolves. -

AZGFD still releasing wolves in Arizona.
hawkeye replied to hawkeye's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I saw the show and it really drove home the problem. I get AZGFD e-mail, and I got one yesterday touting how happy they were to release this wolf into the wild. I have been reading how the AZGFD was in favor of de-listing the wolf and then the next day I read how happy they are to be releasing more wolves. It makes me sick to see what Arizona has become. Nothing but a political cr#p hole. I don't know the whole situation but I would bet that the other western state game and fish dept. aren't tying to cooperate with the Feds. In the E-mail I recieved they were proud to be helping the usfw ruin our hunting. -
I hate to say it, but all of you who think the AZGFD have your best interests in mind better take a hard look. Who the heck do you think is in the forefront of this mess. Tons of your money you spend on hunting and fishing is being spent on ruining your hunting and fishing.

Over the years I have tried several different bi-pods, and I always go back to my Harris. It is a bit heavy but, heavy = sturdy. I have shot several animals with my Harris. Also after trying many different pods I wouldn't use one unless it had the swivel. I also like the added feature of having a stand for my rifle while resting or glassing.

do elk from ponderosa forest taste better than from P-J?
hawkeye replied to desertyankee's topic in Elk Hunting
All elk tastes like crap. So when ever you harvest one, give me a call and I will take it off of your hands. -
+1 on stock contact. I bought a Tika T3 last year and had trouble zeroing. I began checking everything I could. I too thought it was the scope. I finally found that the stock was making slight contact with the barrel. I called Berretta and confirmed that the barrel should be free floating. They told me to send it back and they would fix it. I just got the sand paper out and fixed the problem myself. The results were great. I shot a nice coues in Oct. at 500 yds in the eye, while he was bedded and looking at me.
-
This weekend I used something I never have used before. My son glassed up a buck at 500 yds. and he bedded. I have a Harris bi-pod on my Tikka 300 Win. Mag. Due to a weird angle I couldn't get a steady prone shot with the bi-pod no matter how I tried. I carried my CLAW in my pack, so I clamped it to my gun and my son took his spotting scope off of his tri-pod. In a sitting position I still couldn't get steady. I then took my Harris bi-pod off of my gun and place it under the butt. It took a few moments to get steady but I had a rock solid rest. He was lying in some grass pointing toward me. I put my 500 yard dot on his nose and pulled the trigger. I shot him in his left eye ball. I couldn't belive it but he stood up. I had to shoot him again, to put him down. It took a few more shots because by this time I was shaking a little, but I finally hit him in the shoulder.

I'm not some stupid kid who doesn't know what I am talking about. Let me tell you that the legislature, and judicial branches are already full of people who don't give a dang about your right to hunt. Just because we make a constitutional ammendment doesn't mean more and more won't gain power. I was trying to make a point with the Game and Fish Dept. It is full of anti hunters and you people refuse to see it. I have been hunting in Arizone for 45 years and Arizona politics makes me sick. I voted yes on 109 but I am not stupid enough to think it will make much of a difference
-
I am a life long resident of Arizona and hunting and fishing has been my life. I will probably vote for 109 but not without reservation. It scares the heck out of me that polititions will be in charge of our hunting and fishing rules and we will have no say. I have seen the Game and Fish Dept. go from a game and fish Dept. to a large money making arm of the government in that every decision made is a money decision. Almost every new employee is hired from out of state from places like Washington and Oregon without any outdoor experience or practical knowledge, except what they learned in a classroom. And what really scares me is that their whole outlook is based on what teachers have taught them, not any real life experience in the field. Any time you give absolute power to one group, corruption and fraud will soon follow.
-
My tikka win mag. didn't group very well when I bought it last year. I found the barrel was making contact with the stock and called berretta to make sure it was supposed to be a floating barrel. They said yes and to send it to them and they would fix it. I just got out the sand paper and took care of the problem and it shoots lights out now.

Yea, I thought I would try and give a good deal to a member if someone needed the tires. I will list them on a couple of more sites this monday.

I had the same problem last year and could not get the QAD rest to not make contact with fletching. I used to own an archery shop and tried every trick in the book. I then switched to a Rip Chord rest and problem was solved. I think the rest was bouncing up after the release.
