  1. You can tell the AZGFD is lying. Their lips are moving. I have never seen such a bunch of lying cheating SOBs in my life. After years of watching their fun and games here are some more evidence of lying and cheating. Not only do you have proof so does my son. He was told that they didn't have his aplication. Well after years of watching them do this to people every year, he put a tracer on the aplication. He has the time of delivery. Now if it was worth the time and money to take there lying a$$ to court. Untill we have the Commissioners elected there will never be a change. The Governor doesn't give a dang about what goes on in this Communistic branch of Arizona Government. They have absolute power and untill that changes nothing else will. Sorry if I sound bitter, but after 40 years of watching this sort of thing go on it makes me sick. It is only a matter of time something like this happens to you. All of the screw-ups may be honest misstakes, but the cover-up that happens after they are called on it is maddening.
  2. Red Rabbit, The problem I had is that there is no valley at all on the LX. When it breaks over I am against the wall and I have to keep pressure on the wall which makes me start to shake. My elk hunt is getting closer so I pulled the trigger today and went to the valley and bought a Bowtech Amiral. I spent the afternoon setting it up and I love shooting it. It has just enough valley that I can relax and aim. I am shooting much better groups. I will know how much I like it after I shoot it for a few days. Thanks a lot Dave
  3. I have been shooting a Mathews LX for several years now, but with some health problems and also me getting older I need to find a new bow with a better valley and back wall. I have been convinced that the Bowtech Admiral will fit my needs. My question is that I can purchase a used Bowtech General for about $450 and the Admiral will cost me at least $750 or more. Do any of you Bowtech shooters think I would be as happy with the General, or should I pony up the extra cash and buy the Admiral? Dave
  4. I live a long way from any shops that carry them. That is why I was asking. I was hoping that someone here might have checked them both out. I will probably drive to the valley and try the bows out, before I buy one.
  5. This is a photo of my grandfather who was 73 when he got his first deer. He had been hunting for years but had never harvested a deer. He shot this just above the forks in the Pinals. He's been gone for over 28 years but he would have loved to see this photo online. I spent many an evening with hime hunting quail after school. If you notice he didn't even show off the antlers. I wish I had some pics of the rack. If I remember right it was a pretty good buck.
  6. Ok I get it. The Dems. got elected everyone panics and buys up all of the reloading supplies. Ok 10 months later and no one still has any powder. I would buy the buying frenzy senario if there were anything to buy. Every retailer I have talked to is only getting a couple of pounds of this and a couple of pounds of that. So how can their be a buying frenzy if there is nothing to buy. Nobody has recieved any amount of reloading supplies for months. Me thinks there is a little price manipulation going on here. I think they saw an opportuinty and jumped on it. What powder is out there is double priced from a year ago. The oil companies have this act down to an art. You watch, when they start sending more powder out it will have jumped 50% from last year. A manipulation of supply and demand. Hold it back and people will pay anything to get it. May be way off but I talked to Alient powder today and the response was the same. "We have a buying frenzy because of the Dems." I bought it last year but there has to be something on the shelves to have a buying frenzy. If the retailers were recieving the powder they are ordering, and it was being bought up I would believe the story. they are right, all two pounds they recieve every once in a while does go fast
  7. you know those articles talk about self defense and pistols. No one I know uses rl 25 for pistols or for self defense guns. It is for large magnum rifles. And like I said I believe that was the case in the begining, but how can there be a buying frenzy when there is no product to buy. Every retailer I talked to said that everything is on back order and that they recieve small quantities when they do recieve it. Like I said I may be way off, and the problem may lie with the wholesalers. Just my observation is that if they are not getting the product on the shelves how can they be calling it a buying frenzy. If they were recieving their full orders and it was flying off the shelf then I could understand.
  8. Got back from our road trip to Alaska a couple of weeks ago. We took over fifteen hundred photos. Here are just a few. [attac hment=16621:IMG_0363.JPG][ attachment=16629:IMG_0578.JPG][attachm ent=16634:IMG_0780.JPG][at tachment=16642:IMG_1006.JPG]

    Long range shooting

Man if you are serious about getting a long range shooter, I don't think you could do any better than contacting 30-378 shtr. He is selling his dream rifle. I have seen that rifle shoot. It is amazing. I don't think you could get a better shooting rifle for the price. I know he has over three thousand dollars in that thing. And man it will step out there.

    Photos of our Alaska trip

We were all over. We spent a couple of days in Fairbanks then spent a few days in Denali. Then we went down to Ninilchik and Homer. That is where we did some Halibut fishing. then we went over to seward then over to Copper Center. That is where we did some salmon fishing. Salmon fishing on the Kenia peninsula is called gorilla fishing. When the salmon are running every man woman and child is fishing. We had some fun but it wasn't for me. We then went to Valdez. The fishing was fun but I am a hunter at heart. My next trip will be for hunting. I loved exploring the Yukon. Most of the animal photos were taken in the Yukon. I just picked a few photos to post as we had taken over fifteen hundred. It cost us a couple of hundred dollars to have the photos printed. And that was after culling out a whole lot. Some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen was the Canadian Rockies, the Yukon and the six hour boat trip we took out of seward to some glaciers and whale watching.

    Photos of our Alaska trip

I have always wanted to drive the Alaskan Highway and see the Yukon and Alaska. So when my wife and sister-in-law came up with the idea to go this summer, I fought it with all I had but they finally won and I gave in. It was a tough job but somebody had to do it. We packed up my 26ft Carrage trailer and my 04 Dodge 2500 Cummins and off we went. We spent all of June and some of July on the trip. We drove over nine thousand miles in just a little over a month. I want and will go back but only if I have 3 months to spend. And next time it will be during hunting season. Oh and also, I broke all four leaf springs on the trailer, driving the rough roads. In the midle of the Yukon we had to change a water pump on the Dodge. You wouldn't believe it but I had a new water pump with us.

We saw so many black bears in BC that we quit taking pictures of them. We would just sit and observe them.

Alaska was pretty cool, but I fell in love with the Yukon. I would like to go back to the Yukon and explore for a month or two.

    who drew archery deer tags?

3a-3c deer and elk. What luck. I'll be camping for over a month. I'll deer hunt right into my elk hunt.

Custom Long Range 30-378 for sale!!

WOW! This economy sucks. I can't believe you haven't sold that thing. What a rifle. If I hadn't just spent all my money in Alaska I would jump all over it.
  17. I am one of those older guys that had to use a boulder and a gun that would only shoot about 200 yards. Back then a deer tag only cost .75 cents and we cried our eyes out when they went up to $1.50. With the cost of hunting these days I think anything that helps with your hunt is OK. A good freind just gave me a CLAW and I can't wait to try it out. My only problem is that I retired my heavy Bogen tripod a couple of years ago, now I will have to start packing it again. I think the CLAW will help my old shaky a$$. I will trade the weight and take my Harris bi-pod off of my Sendaro 300 ultra-mag.
  18. I've tried them all and they are all very good. for the last few years I have become a fan of Barnes. I have had great luck with accuracy, and performance. I have shot berger, nosler, hornady, sierra, and a few others and I have to say, for the last 3 years I have gone strictly to Barnes TSX and MRX. My sons have shot several deer at very long range.

    PINAL MOUNTAIN GATHERING

The man who makes the trophy's is "Dave Ray". He is one heck of an artist. He makes hundreds of the trophys every year. One heck of a man also.

    The Draw System

first off I need to say I have drawn a very good tag with only 3 points, so I am not for changing the draw system because I didn't draw. I would be for the current system if there were some sort of transparancy, but after going through this for over 30 years and seeing some of the screw ups. I don't trust the Game and Fish anymore. I for one like Colorados preference point system. The preference point is only for their first choice. And you only lose your points if you draw your first choice. So you could put in for that premium hunt but still get to hunt while waiting. In Arizona there is a small chance that you would never get to hunt or that you would give up after years of trying.
  21. I finally drew a quality bull tag. 3a-3c. I thought after years of shooting a Bodoodle prong rest I would try the new drop away rest. I bought a QAD Ultra Hunter. After a week, many, many hours of tuning and phone calls to the tech at QAD I gave up. There was no way I could get total fletch clearance. I posted on Bowsite.com for some help and Keith from Ripcord saw my post and sent me a Ripcord rest. What a difference. The installation took 15 minutes and within 30 minutes of starting the installation I was dead on out to 50 yards. I wish I would have bought a Ripcord to begin with. I wasted a whole week of frustration trying to get the QAD rest to work on my Mathews LX. Also the QAD rest was very noisy, and the Ripcord is very quiet. Im sure the QAD works on other bows but I couldn't get it to work on my Mathews. Just thought I would let people know before someone else spends a whole lot of time and money. hawkeye
  22. 30-378shtr, don't laugh I probably would have bought a new bow, but with this Alaska trip coming up I thought I should try and save some money. I set Kays bow up for a back-up. That slow shooter is still fogiving as all get out. Yea I'm going to try and go fishing with you guys this weekend.

    Barnes TSX

been shooting barnes for about 4 years now. I haven't had any problems with fouling out of my Rem. 300 Ultra mag. my 30.06, my .243. and 22.250 Everyone has their favorite bullet, and mine are Barnes TSX. I haven't had any fouling isues and my long range accuracy is great. I love how they perform on game. Great expansion and weight retention. I clean my barrel after every use, with Barnes CR-10, and haven't noticed any more copper fouling than I did when I loaded Hornaday and Nosler. P.S. I have the new Barnes manual, so if you have any re-loading questions just pm me. hawkeye
  24. The Sportsmanswarehouse in Mesa looks like it is going out of business. Since November it hasn't stocked any reloading supplies and all the shelves are bare. Every time I go in I swear I won't come back to waist my time looking for something they don't stock any more. But I keep thinking they are just low on stock. Well after 4 months of the same bare shelves I think I am done. My time will be better spent just buying off of the internet. I tried to support the store but they don't seem to care. When I asked about the situation several times I get the same, what are you talking about attitude. The last guy I talked to just laghed and kept on walking. When they go out of business, (and they will believe me) they will blame the poor economy. The economy hasn't got anything to do with poor business practices. In this day and age why would anyone keep going back to a store only to leave empty handed, and go home and order what they need off of the internet. Has anyone experienced the same situations in other sportsmanswarehouse stores? Or is this just the store in Mesa?
  25. don't believe everything the people at Sportmans say. They have been putting that crap out for about 5 months now. I haven't had any trouble locating reloading supplies at any other places. They may run out but the get more in. I talked to some venders and a lot of them wont send anything to Sportsmans and they also said they are not recieving orders of any quantity. I was in Cabelas, Bass Pro, and Dicks last week and all had full shelves of guns. Go into Sportsmans and all you see is nothing.
