Is this the delux?

You could use Barska 6x 30s and still kill bigger deer than Ill ever lay eyes on.
-
Never looked through them but Ive heard the kowa genesis line is very good, but I think the 12x you speak of are a step down. Id have a hard time thinking they are anywhere near the meopta. Im a big fan of meopta glass and believe the only 12x that tops them are ultravid and of course the EL.
-
they are fun to try and judge, I still suck at it. Remember, mass hides length. And get at least 2 angles on them because curved cutters will look short from certain angles.

I know theres a few guys here that have traded in the 15s and 10s for 12s. Any regrets? I love the big view and sharp edges in the EL 12 and the idea of packing just one Bino. But I love the detail the 15s give. I wanted to hear some input.

Too late now. Sold my euro 15s to a buddy, was a sad day. Drowned my sorrows by picking up some used EL 12s on ebay. Ill be unloading my Leica trinovid ba 10x42 if anybody wants em. I wish I could afford just keeping them all. One day

Shoot me a message if deal falls through please

Be careful with giving up your meoptas for the mavens. The maven 15s have really blocky and awkward eye cups that make them unusable for me and I've heard others agree. They will let you demo a pair I bet.
-
Would you go el 12s or the 10-15 duovid for one set of glass? I also pack a kowa 66 spotter. I'm considering dumping my 15s and 10s and moving straight across to the ELs.

Right here. Will knock the socks off any razor.

Man you'd never cut it as a bino reviewer in the birding community! No chromatic aberration comparisons, pincushion distortion analysis. Will they fit in my fanny pack?? Come on man give us the good stuff Good review. If I decide to go the 12x route I will definitely consider them.

this is the kind of thing that happens when people care more about what they kill, rather than how they get it and enjoying the process.
-
They're probably posting on another forum about the Ahole that passed them on a 2- track
-
So what should they have done? Sit and wait until you're ready to move up the ridge and then walk behind you? Turn around and go home?

I have the meoptas, and have compared them in the field to the swaro HD. Doug is right, the swaro is a step up from the meopta, albeit a small one. The slc has better edges and I thought were a tad brighter at last light. I got my meoptas for $1050 used, you're looking at $800-900 more for the swaros. the difference may or may not be worth it to you. The meoptas are incredible but if money isn't a concern then go swaro but make sure you get the HD, I actually liked the meopta better than the pre HD swaros.

Higher power seems to really test the performance of your optics. For example, there are 10x binos I thought were great, but the 15s in that same model didn't impress me as much, not as easy on the eyes. I own viper 10s and I cant imagine a 15x version of them being much good especially with only a 50mm objective. From my experience you really need to drop a good amount of cash for a 15x that you can stay behind all day. The least expensive big bino I've looked at that were decent were the Nikon monarch 5 16x56 or the docter 15x60.

I was thinking gitzo mountaineer series up until #6.

I simmer for hour or so with borax, then pressure wash and get all the gunk off. Dump out the nasty water in the neighbors yard. It's important that you do this at night. Then I do another simmer with dawn in a fresh tub of water to do any additional cleaning/degreasing. I wrap the bases in foil. 40 weight peroxide gel painted on and let sit for a day or so. Works great.

ebay has some Euro HD 12x50 for $1000 right now. Take those over the razors and thank me later. Also keep us updated on what you think of the switch to 12x, I've been thinking of doing the same but I cant give up my 15s.

Spent a couple days up north chasing goats. Found this buck in the bottom of a big canyon hanging out in some cedars. He looked to be one of the best we had seen. He'll make some good green chile burros.

Seeing Muleys Instead of Coues
Hatchet Jack replied to WarrZone's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Creed is spot on, I find up in the central units there is a lot of overlap in ranges. Down here in the sky islands I don't see any mule deer once I get out of the foothills.
