  1. When I lived there, it was always in the trunk (or locked container) with ammo separate. Looks like it's still that way according to their Justice Dept website. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/travel Transporting Firearms in California Home Firearms Transporting Firearms in California HANDGUNSPursuant to California Penal Code section 25610, a United States citizen over 18 years of age who is not prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, may transport by motor vehicle any handgun provided it is unloaded and locked in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container. Furthermore, the handgun must be carried directly to or from any motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while being carried must be contained within a locked container. Pursuant to California Penal Code section 16850, the term "locked container" means a secure container that is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment. SHOTGUNS AND RIFLESNonconcealable firearms (shotguns and rifles) are not generally covered within the provisions of California Penal Code section 25400 and therefore are not required to be transported in a locked container. However, as with any firearm, nonconcealable firearms must be unloaded while they are being transported.

Youth Javelina 2017 is in the Books

    Great job!
  3. Check Gunbroker.com. Northern Firearms are clearing out their X-bolts. I picked up a 6.5 Creed in Kryptec pattern for $550 new in box a couple of months ago. Tack driver for sure. However, it's not a "Long Range", but they may have some of those that they are clearing out.

    Sidearm while backpacking

I use the holster that is built into my 2200. But I'm liking the idea of a leg holster just in case I'm not wearing my pack for some reason.

    "Food Saver" food saving tips

Which one? This one? https://www.costco.com/FoodSaver-FM5480-2-in-1-Food-Preservation-System.product.100310211.html Reason I ask, is my 6 yr old Food Saver finally died and I ended up buying this one from Costco. Wasn't a fan of it at all. Difficult to use one hand to vacuum seal and I had to press down on the clear lid in order for it to vacuum properly. Ended up returning it and getting this one from Amazon. Found it to be much better plus it has a 12V adapter and it's the same price. https://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-GameSaver-Designed-Consecutive-GM710-000/dp/B016C4KJS0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504808691&sr=8-1&keywords=foodsaver+big+game As far as your question on reheat. Yes, I froze a ton of individual servings of venison stew. Then I just boil in the bag similar to sous vide reheat. Comes out great. I use my foodsaver a few times a week for sous vide and freezing chicken, beef, pork shoulders, salmon, etc from grocery shopping. During hunting season or tuna season in CA, it's used much much more. So, having one that is reliable and easy to use without having to press on it to vacuum properly is a must for me.

Buddy needs help, razor down off FR300

I'll be near Hospital Ridge and other parts of 5A in a white 4Runner tomorrow late afternoon thru Monday. Granted it's further west of where he's at and I don't have a trailer. But if he needs a tow out of there with a tow strap, I'll be more than happy to help. PM me if you need my contact info.

Clothing for a Coues backpack hunt

Is Costco carrying these right now? Would like to try them out. Looks good for the price... The Costco at PV Mall carries them as of Saturday. I bought some last year and they are great pants for the money. Comfortable and are very durable.
  12. Size and color of the SD pants and jacket?
  13. I've been in the process of trying to clear out the floor freezer in order to (hopefully) make room for a cow elk in October. Eating as much venison, striped bass and hamachi kama as possible. Ended up finding a vaccuum sealed pack of 3 whole quail from last year. Decided to brine them overnight. Rubbed them up with the go-to chicken rub, then roasted them at 435* for about 15 min. Holy crap, I always forget how f-ing good those little birds are.

    Budget vortex riflescopes

What about a used Viper? I recently picked one up off of this forum for a very good price to put onto a 6.5 Browning X-Bolt I scored off of Gun Broker.

LOL, just privacy. Most have no clue how many organizations and companies track everything they do online. Ever notice how after visiting a website you get lots of banner, Facebook, etc. ads for that company? Ad retargeting. Common practice in any online marketing campaign. We do that at the software company I work for. Clearing cookies or browsing in an "incognito" window in Google Chrome will prevent that. Using an ad-blocker also helps.

Browning Double Automatic 12ga Shotgun $550

Nice gun. I love my B2000, with that same loading and unloading capability on the left side. Makes it easy when swapping shells when duck and geese hunting.

    Name that gun!

My Great-Grandfather's shotgun that I found cleaning out my uncle's barn in Litchfield, MN. It was rusted out pretty bad. Took about 3 mos to get it back to this shape. I have a few before and after photos I can post up if anyone's interested. The family thinks the shotgun dates back to the 1920's, maybe earlier.
