    Had to share

Yep, our cats own the dogs; shepherd's, boxers, Heeler, but if it weren't for us masters the cats would be devoured. Most of our 50 some critters came to us by way of rescue. All the dogs, cats chickens a couple horses and a mule too. One of the cats, a Siamese was rescued after being dumped in a mall parking lot a decade ago on Christmas Eve. So of course the ol lady named him Mr Jingle's. He's circling the drain these days so I'm already hearing about a feral kitten at her work place. God help me. 50 some critters!! Whats one more?

Where am I? Clockwork orange edition

Good movie. Still use quotes from it like "eggy weggs" and "The old in out in out".
  4. It might be. I also caught mine with peanut butter (the crunchy kind seems choice). Not sure me and you are lookin at the same rodents though. Rats, mice and gophers also run across rural roads. Are there upsides to hantavirus? Is it similar to quick weightloss plans like montezumas revenge?
  5. Kinda surprised nobody's tried it. I've never had squirrel so Im not sure I even wanna try but i did try lamb brains once. Seasoning was OK but once you chewed into it, it was a seasoned pile of mush. Pretty gross. I'll try anything once too but would rather have a positive opinion before destroying a poor family of innocent squirrels just to see if "i like it". Yes I'm kind of a softie.

Elk hunting in Grizzly country, which pistol?

I beg to differ on shot on target time. I have timed to first shot hit numerous times at 1 second from leather carry holster, not my competition rig. I shoot tuesday night steel for about 3 years now and am much faster than I was when I was checking time to 1st shot. I regularly shoot stages at about 20 seconds for 20-28 shots while moving and enguageing targets from multiple areas. You work on your bear spray I will work on my lead spray and hope thats all we have to do is practice. Seems to me a grizz charge would likley happen while not actually expecting it. Although training does in fact help the real world scenerio I just can't help but think it would happen more like "What the Fu** is that noise?", you turn and see it charging you and it takes half a second to process what is actually happening then you reach for the gun while possibly pannicking and by the time you figure out whats going an and try to react you already burned a couple seconds. Good luck. I just hope I'm never in that situation with a wife, kids or client in tow. Scary no matter who you are and how much practice you've had.

    Dove hunting

We get $100 per kid if they have no absence by Xmas. If they have none the rest of the year they get another 100 at the end of the year. Its a charter school so it somehow has to do with the funding they get. I wanted to make it to the elk camp this year in 23 but don't want to pull 4 kids out and miss out on the free cabbage. So opening day they are gonna sit in home room then I'm showing up at 7:15 with the camper and we are outta there!
  8. I have a savage axis at lock stock and barrel right now getting a brake put on. When I get it back your welcome to put a few through it. After my kids hunt of course.

Looking for opinions on where to live in AZ

Just do it regardless LOL. Does anyone really plan on it? It pretty much just happens unless you take extensive measures to avoid it. Kids are awesome though, can't even put it into words..

    Paleo Diet

Just curious how many of you guys have experience with it and what your results were. It sounds decent but I've also read that it is a fad diet. Just looking for some first hand experience.

Looking for opinions on where to live in AZ

What he said. It's pretty spot on population wise for what your looking for. It's 5-10 degrees cooler than tucson at about 4500', we are one hour southeast of Tucson. In my opinion one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Southern AZ. And if you want you can drive to the top of Carr canyon and its like your in the Poconos (20 minute drive). It's also a military town so theres a handful of GC's you could work for that work on post. Look up Marsh Development I subbed for them for awhile and they've been pretty fair. Lots of Whitetail and Mulies and a five hour drive to good elk country. Fishing options are Parker lake about 30-40 min. drive (trout, bluegill, bass and some channel cats), and Patogonia lake (my favorite because they have flatheads and the same others as parker) but it's an hour drive which sucks. All that being said we have 5 kids and don't want one marrying a GI and moving across the world and we never see our kids again (or future grandkids). So we have a five year plan to move to Camp Verde someday to get away from the military base (I'm not anti military, just anti never seeing my kids). Much smaller population and I don't think the economy is as good there but I'll figure something out. The upside is its also surrounded by mountains and much closer to prime elk country. The verde river runs right through there which has flatheads so no long drive. Also pretty close to high country trout lakes and a couple huge lakes down towards phoenix. Camp Verdes about an hour north of Phoenix. For what your after SV sounds good with Camp Verde and surrounding areas a close second.

    Road Hunting, Still Illegal

Years ago when I read most of the regs the first time I read that road hunting was illegal. Since then I've seen several threads mention road hunters and I've seen where people have asked for tips or suggestions in certain areas and people have responded with road hunting as a suggestion of how to find game. So I thought "huh, road hunting must be legal now...". Nope, just checked the regs. Still illegal. Not sure if people realize this and want to forwarn any of the new hunters or anyone who was just misinformed.

You guys are hilarious, thanks.I'd like to watch what catfish is watching but no premium, just Bucks N Brown, sad. Get a fire stick with kodi, you can watch it all. Free. It's like road hunting the NFL.

    ALASKA 2016

We ended up with about 2 pounds of halibut cheeks! Looking forward to them! We fried some halibut for lunch today and it was unbelievable! I bet you don't have to be on bath salts to enjoy those cheeks! Was your trip a package deal? What's a trip cost like that?

    Road Hunting, Still Illegal

That's crap, I pull off with my window mount and find something 3 ridges away and then pursue it? I'd tell the warden he's a moron then go pay the fine.

    Road Hunting, Still Illegal

I would have told that warden to eat shite and take a hike. There is no need to harass people. Alot of us go to the woods to get away from crap like that. There is no place for crooked officious officers in the woods. I think they put it in writing as more of a discouragement. A warden is probably more likely to bark then write a citation. Seems to me that unless they saw you drive up looking out the window see a deer and get out and shoot it it would be a really hard thing to prosecute.

    Road Hunting, Still Illegal

im always looking for game and i dont shoot from the roads if someones watching. I'm looking out the window at all times when on canyon roads whether it's hunting season or not. Im surprised I haven't ended up in a ditch or ravine at this point. Now I can't help but wonder how many steps off of a road you have to take in order to "not shoot from the road". Hmmmm.
