Bump for a good price and a good dude 👌

I was fortunate enough to draw another deer tag this year and have been putting in alot of time in the hills the past 2 months. I had 2 bucks picked out for sure this year and knew it would be one of them or nothing. I packed in the day prior to the hunt and set up my camp. I managed to turn up a few nice bucks the evening before the opener but wasn't able to locate one of the bucks I was after. 3:45 came early the next day and I crawled out of my sleeping bag and started getting everything ready. Within a hour my brother inlaw showed up to hunt the morning with me before he had to work. We managed to get to the glassing hill with time to set up everything before the sun came up. I soon found my self glassing into the basin that I've seen my target buck in. I scanned the only turning over a few does. I was about to turn and glass below us for my other buck when some coyoties started sounding off below ous and deer came pouring over the cut above us. I saw what looked like a nice buck come out of the same area I've seen the big buck and although he was a solid deer he wasn't the one I was looking for. We glassed for another hour or so then started focusing our efforts on the shade. My brother inlaw called me over to his spotter and he had located a buck that he knew I needed to take a look at and make the judgment call myself. We sat and watched him for probably 15 minutes before I decided to pass. We continued to glass when I turned up 2 bucks. one was a smaller 4x4 maybe mid 80s and the other was a stud of a 2 point. As im watching the larger 2 point I see a deer making his way through some thick brush. I turned to my brother inlaw and said we need to figure out what that deer was. We knew that most of the bucks were still running together and he had to be a buck. We stared at a 40 yard circle for close to 20 minutes when my brother inlaw happened to glass the buck bedded in a small opening inside the thicket. He was just sat in a way that we though it was him but couldn't quite tell. We compared him to the videos we had back and forth for what seemed to be forever. Finally he turned jsut right giving us the look that we had been looking for to make conformation. Laying down below us bairly noticeable through the 15s was the one of the bucks I was after Pitchfork. We got set up and checked the range, we waited for what seemed like a eternity and finally he stood up. Shortly after he got up, I was able to successfully harvest this amazing buck. What a awesome, yet short hunt it was. I cant wait to do it again.

He broke off his G2. luckily we were able to find it. All we had were bandaid's in the pack. So we used it for this picture.

I'm bias myself I never leave the house without my spotter when I'm out glassing. Especially for coues. I let the glass do the walking for me. Plus I like to digascope. I have a Viper HD right now. I m going to be upgrading in the near future. If your going to spend the $$ on good glass 15s are the way to go but after that a good spotter is a close 2nd in my book.

I finally came over to the dark side and filled my 1st rifle tag this weekend on a awesome coues buck. I decided to backpack in wendsday and do alittle more scouting in a spot I was planning to hunt. I saw alot of great bucks Wednesday and Thursday but only 1 that I was debating on chasing. So after talking with my brother inlaw and a few friends I decided to back out and go help him chance a buck opening morning that hes been chasing. We had a great opening morning seeing a bunch of bucks but we never located his target buck. I packed all my stuff into his spot so I decided to stay another night and help him. We saw a few great bucks the next morning but never laid eyes on his target buck. We decided to take a break and eat something and we tried to come up with a game plan on what we could do to try and cover the area alittle differently. While scanning for new vantage points my brother inlaw spotted some deer way back in another canyon right below the skyline. I grabbed my spotter and could tell he was a great buck. They were alittle over 1000 yards out but across 2 canyons. So as soon as they topped over we kind of though that was the end of that. Alittle over a hour goes by and we have been joking about how if they would of just bedded on our side I'd try and make a move. Sure enough I look up there and I see a small buck. We start picking the hill apart and I see the big buck again. I asked him if he minded if I went after him since I was in there with him. He joked and said sure just dont miss. I headed down and closed the gap. I got the rifle set up and waited for him to get up out of his bed. I got a good range and dialed in the 6.5 to 480 yards and waited for what seemed like forever. The buck finally got up and I got into thw scope. The angle was so steep I couldnt get steady. So I decided to readjust my pack and get better shooting position. The buck stepped put of his bed and started feeding. I tool a deep breath and started squeezing the slack out of the trigger. BOOM the gun went off and I quickly chambered another round. I got back in the scope and couldn't find him. After scanning for a bit my phone started buzzing. I recived a text from my brother inlaw who was on the hill above me said "you dropped him, and he rolled about 7 times down the hill but we got him. " It was such a awesome hunt glad I was able to share it with my family and hunting partner.
