What I find works is using Casein ( a slow digesting) source of protein before you go to sleep for recovering muscles, but more important first thing in the morning consume some Whey( fast digesting protein). Your body has been fasting all night. Give it what it needs first thing in the morning. Diet and exercise gotta love it.

    What am I doing wrong???

Feel your pain coosefan. I have had the same results you have had. Alot of does and small bucks. The only advice I could give is I have noticed that 99% of the big buck trail cam pictures are from in thick pines or trees. A fellar in the previous thread mentioned bedding area's. I figure big bucks like seclusion and privacy 90% of their life, the rut being the exception. When time allows I plan on finding a very secluded spot most likely one of the most highest and rugged part of the terrain I am scouting and setting up shop. It is funny because the majority of the sheds I find are on mesa's or wide open spots.I think as a buck matures he just rotates a big loop through his home terrain as the time of the year dictates. Sure would like to put a radio collar on a few and compare notes. Keep at it and good luck.

Natl. Geographic vs. Garmin MapSource TOPO!

What he said. You have to spend time and get down to around 300-500 hundred ft and comb the landscape on your G.P.S. to find tanks, springs and landmarks, but when you do the name will come up of what your looking for then you can save it as a way-point.Kind of like what you were able to do on google earth.I also have the Nat Geo but I prefer the 24K.

What impresses me is the stud packing that deer out in one piece.
  14. I own the BL .22 and my brother owns a Henry. They were gifts , but we both agree we like the Browning because of the sights , and the finish on the Browning is incredible. I believe the finish justifies the price on the browning. I also believe the lever action doesn't get as dirty or gummed as the semi-action but I also believe that is because you just don't throw as many shots out there as you do with a semi. I think if you are buying these guns for a kid he ( or she) will like the semi better , but I believe the lever will make them a better shot. Good luck.
  15. After I got her to retrieve a tennis ball I started her out doin the same thing with a full beer can. Rolling it 4 to 5 foot out in front of me saying "Beer" -"Beer" .Like I said single syllable words. The beauty is a lab has a soft mouth and wont even puncture a full beer can. With practice, time, and patience she will know what you want her to retrieve and where. Bird-Ball- Bone- Beer then work on it from there.Good luck and good times.
  16. TJ couple more things. I start out my dogs with a pellet gun in the back yard with turtle doves or whatever bird. Set up a bird feeder and every evening get your dog to sit next to you, shoot the bird and have her retreive it. That is the hardest part.Getting them to settle down and not bust out before you shoot takes practice. Then they dont know what to do when the bird is shot and flopping all around, good times. Have fun.
  17. You got you a female yellow lab-no training needed. They already speak our language.Seriously start with just retreiving a ball.Say BALL roll it 4'- to 5' foot in front of you, just work with her. when she figures that out(and she will) give her a treat. Do that about 10 minutes a day while throwing the ball out farther and working on DROP which means for her to drop the ball, again another treat. Once she has that she will speak your language. Work on her retreiving single syllable words like- "ball" "bone" "bird" and "beer". Labs were bred to naturally retrieve, probelly why she naturally brought back your bird. I have owned 2 female labs that have done the same for me with no training.Once you get the dog to know what you want by letiing them sniff it in your hand they will bring anything back. Once you keep working with them a little bit every day and learn the language you could get them to tie your shoes. My lab can do some incredible stuff when it comes to bringin me a beer. In a ice-chest or a refridgerator. I can put one beer in a 12 pack of mixed soda-pops and she brings the beer back every time now I gotta work with her to close the door or lid.Shows you why they use them for drug sniffin dogs. Again work first with just the ball routine after that no problem. Labs will want to dig and you have to keep them mentally entertained or they will get into trouble because they are a very smart dog.Trust me I have been frustrated. Congratulations on a beautifull pup and the sky is the limit with a dog like that

    single man pontoon boat

Fishing partner moved away so I am trying to sale my boat.Paid 1200 new for just the boat, but I purchased all the accesories like the pump, patch kit, seat extension, and storage bags, for the sides and one for the seat.Only been on one trip where I was able to carry ice chest, lantern, sleeping bag, tools, good size tackle box, two complete rod & reels, 12 volt battery & trolling motor, point is alot of storage, down the Verde. http://www.northforkoutdoors.com/2010webca...alogpage12.html. Is the link. www. northforkoutdoors is the website. Did alot of research I think it is the best boat in its class. It is the only one rated for class 5 whitewater. Just in time for the season. It is rated to handle up to a 6 H.P. motor. Asking 700.00
