Arrow flight at higher elevations?
Txhunter1 replied to Txhunter1's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
i shoot a spott hog tommy single pin -
Coming from Texas to hunt in August and was wondering after reading a few things if my arrow will hit higher than normal because of air densities at elevations. Sea level to 5000 - 8000 ft? Essentially wondering if what I read is true and how much it really will affect it.

Arrow flight at higher elevations?

Hunting Unit 27 heading out a week from today got a 14 hour drive and gunna scout the 18th before the season opens i know a heck of a lot of scouting time haha but its all i can manage being this far away. Our main focus is mule deer but obviously not going to pass up an opportunity on a coues granite the shot presents itself. Also picking up a bear tag as long as the season is still open. -
I'm no tax expert but sounds like one heck of a write off!

Been shooting these broadheads for two years and love em just curious if anyone else uses them no one I know does?

Have a decent pair of 10x42s and was thinking about either getting nice new ones or keeping those around my neck and getting some 15x56s on a tripod? Any input or other suggestions would be great! Thanks!
-

-

Few buddies and i are heading to arizona in august to chase some velvet mulies and coues and also maybe a bear. Not looking for spots but any tips would be great. Be our first western hunt. hunt Whitetails in texas all of us are young and willing to break our backs hiking in and out putting miles on the boots. Like i said not looking for spots ive done plenty of research just some insite and tips. Looking at unit 27.

Anyone use trekking poles as well figured it might be useful to snag a cheap pair off amazon or something.
-
Yea I had planned on getting all of them figured why not already going to be out there might as well try and go for all of them. Anyone have any photos not just 27 but any Arizona success
-
Alright awesome that's pretty much what I had gathered from reading a bunch of posts on here. Was thinking about getting a bear tag of the quota wasn't met in the spring hunts is that something anyone has tried in this unit before while deer hunting?
-
Thats always good to know! What kind of pack suggestions does anyone have. Read a lot about different ones but on the fence about them plan on making western hunts a yearly thing now and am looking for something to use for a long time but also not break the bank. As always thanks for all of yalls input!

Seeing as how this will be our first trip and we arent anticipating much im not going to be picky one bit especially since like you said we don't exactly have anytime to scout. First legal buck i see in range is taking a dirt nap! Thanks again for all the info. What type of boots do yall wear tall snake boots, boots with chaps or gaiters or just say screw it and risk it with regular hiking boots?
-
Thanks for all the info a lot of help and heck yea the only good snakes a dead one I hate them things.
-
Alright cool thanks for all the info it's much appreciated!
-
Yea expecting it to be very difficult
-
Thanks for the info. Do you tend to see them at higher elevations this time of year with it being so hot or at lower elevations is there a difference

What size binos do you suggest read a lot of different things
