Zeke I feel like that your hunt is your hunt mentality is coming in the future but in my situation he's just been introduced to hunting in the last couple of years so I hear what you're getting at but at the same time want to give it a chance to develop a little. Flatlander I think you might be on point with the independence thing. Which I strongly encourage. I don't want him to be a puppet. So I guess I'll have to take what I can get. However if he tells me he wants to put in for a tag and he draws one come opening day he's hunting like it or not. I had this talk with him on his first javi hunt. He didn't want to be there which was fine with me but my problem was with her wanted to put in and there was a kid at home who didn't draw that would have loved to be hunting. Thanks for the feedback. That's kinda why I told him I was glad that he was able to tell me he didn't want to go. But I guess I really want him to because I know when he's out there he'll have a good time and mayeah have a memory other then a video game. But again thanks for the input I'm trying not to push it (it's so hard not to because I know how much I liked it when I was his age) but I know everyone is different and this just may not be his thing.

6-12 inches at 100 yards is bad even for a shot out bbl. I would bet it's in the scope set up (base rings or scope) or you might wanna think about a chamber cast. Especially if this guy that passed away had a lot of custom guns.

13 year old has school tomorrow but I'm gonna go test the waters in the morning. Hopefully they're good so he has a good hunt Saturday. He still hasn't had that experience where it's hard to keep your gun loaded. To all going out tomorrow watch for snakes and good luck.

This is an interesting topic as I'm surethane many of us have had close encounters with rattle snakes. I think staying calm and getting to help is an obvious ,what you should do, but everyone reacts to situations differently. So my question is what would you or (what would I) do? So this gives me an idea. I'll round up some snakes and medical professionals (although I don't put a lot of stock in them) and we'll get together and find out exactly how we would react! Anybody in?! Lol

I'll will add that I kinda wish I had a decoy to try on my last hunt although by no means do I think it's an absolute necessity. A good cow call is a necessity though imo.
