My nephew 16 years old, has been anxious to hunt since he was 10. He’s nonresident as my sister, his mom, moved from Tucson to the northwest about 20 years ago. Anyway she finally agreed based on hunt dates, school and such to let him put in for deer in az. He drew a tag! Everyone’s excited, but, a few weeks before the hunt my sister says she may not let him go due to grades. “We” myself, my uncle and my brother are disappointed in this information of course, but we understand. I told my sister if he’s not gonna make the hunt he needs to turn his tag back in so another jr can use it. My nephew worked hard studied took tests and quizzes and brought his grades all up to A’s and B’s! Green light! Day one windy as shoot. We find deer but the only bucks ( two spikes) were way off and disappeared quickly. day two rainy in the am. We work our way to a good spot after waiting for the rain to pass by mostly. We found a big fork not long after getting to our spot. My mindset was conditions are awesome let’s let things start moving. My nephew (rooster) of course was ready to stalk. So we stalked, a fork that was 550 yards was now at 217. Roosters on a boulder and steady but the buck was mostly behind a thick ocatilla. I tell him don’t shoot through that ocatilla but if you have a shot take it. He says “I’m not comfortable with this shot”. I say ok just wait. Well buck takes a few steps and is gone. Coues deer for ya. Day three head out, find a good spot, after a short time other hunters come in to the end of the canyon we’re glassing. A half our or so goes by and they move on. I’m thinking they might push something to us so we watch and wait but nothing comes. We decide to move as well. While we’re moving, we hear a shot. Those other hunters kill one. We watch for a bit as they find their kill as well as looking for something that might be heading our way. After what we felt was long enough we decided it’s time to get to our next spot. After a few minutes we glass a buck, close, bedded in the shade. We tell rooster sneak up and get on that boulder. He does, just in time! The buck we glassed, along with another smaller buck that we didn’t see, got up and started moving out. They paused for just a second and the shot rang out. Perfect shot placement put him down in his tracks at 125 yards. I was so impressed and to be honest relieved that we didn’t have to track a wounded deer.

I think he’s hooked. He’s Talkin about buying a 30-06. And a scope. And yes studies were always a condition of mine to be able to hunt, so hopefully he can try again next year. He has the desire but nobody to really take him where he lives, even though there’s lots of opportunity. -

12 ga? -
I agree, I wouldn't be shocked either, but if I had to bet, I'd bet there'll be a few leftovers. On a positive note, my nephew who's mom finally allowed him to put in drew a Jr hunt and he drew! So I'll get to hunt a little at least.

So it's not over. Good to know

Did you get a card hit yet? Just curious because if that 33 muzzy hasn't been hit maybe choices 3-5 are still in the works.

Up for sale is a beretta bl-3 12 ga. F/m 3" 30" bbl. Gun is in pretty good shape and I have shot it but has issues.... 1) the safety only works on one bbl 2) the lever that is supposed to lock to the side....doesn't so it has to be manually operated. ( I think a spring is busted, not sure) 3) some slight rust in small spots in the bbls...hard to see in the pics but about the size of a quarter. probably smaller. 4) bbl rib has a couple dents, tried to show that in pics. 5) I'm too used to my ithaca 37 and can't hit squat with an o/u 6) not sure if this is a pro or a con but it has a sling stud installed on the butt, nothing for a sling on the forend. Other than that this gun is a real quality firearm. I'll try to upload all the pics I took but if you're interested and need more pm me. Location is marana. I'm asking $600 obo. I based the price off of the same gun that just sold on Easter from gunbroker (penny auctuon) for $990.00 plus $65 shipping. I also have an Enfield sporter in .303 british I'd sell for $180 if anyone is interested. Pm me for pics of that one.

I also hear that goat feed gets em laying again

I've heard of some of this backyard chickens not laying and commercial feed being blamed. Do you let your birds free range at all? I'm curious because my birds did the usual slow down in winter but are still productive. We let them run the yard a couple hours every day. We even have a bobcat attack survivor that has recovered and is now laying again. We're thinking of buying bulk ingredients and making our own feed though.

When you gotta go you gotta go. Open hillside or thick drainage with cover. Just another pick of the wild outdoors. Kinda funny because not shown often , but also nothing to be embarrassed of.

Anybody got a demo saw I can borrow? I just got a smokin' deal! Hotter than a $2 pistol! Kidding aside thanks for broadcasting this. Local PD should go buy it. Nobody would sell this along with their stuff inside for that price (even if they'removing). Especially since changing the lock is under warranty for free and so easy to do according to the CL add. Wow

Let's hear it! See some pics! What's the hold up?

I'm not sure if classifieds or campfire is the best place to post this but since it's not hunting or fishing related I guess I'll try classifieds. Is anyone here or does anyone here have a recommendation for an estate attorney in the tucson area? Don't really want to dive into details here, but it's not to set up a will or trust. Were looking to consult with someone with knowledge of this system and probate and such. Thanks in advance for any suggestions .
