I scratched out 6 last night. Not a ton of birds flying, but saw a few big groups on my way out after sunset. Figures.

No bugles yet, but found the first rubs of the year Sunday morning. The velvet was still on the ground and in the tree.

Went home to Texas this last weekend for the 4th, and was able to shoot an axis to put some meat in the freezer! I'm wanting to get the hide tanned for a throw over a couch, anybody know of anyone in Flagstaff that does that?

I was out in 6a scouting yesterday, finally saw some sign. Saw a monster speed goat and had a coyote show up about 20 yards from me.

Nice birds! The last 2 years back home in Texas have been great with all the rain.

Finally got my kayak here (10ft Pelican) Wanted to check in and see what places to put in within an hour or so of Flagstaff. Really enjoy catching crappie, bass, and catfish out of it. If anyone is interested in meeting up, let me know. I used to fish bass tournaments back in college after my football career was cut short.

Was hoping I'd get the chance to chase them while I was back home this weekend, we've got a few on our property out west, but seem to have more success with them on public land than I do on ours. Hopefully I'll be able to connect with one here this spring! Congrats on the bird!

I plan on hunting that area as well. I've been looking at maps like crazy trying to find out the best way to attack this thing. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, I suppose. Either way, I'm chomping at the bit to get out and at least tell myself I'm elk hunting.

Moved to Arizona back in July from Texas, was hoping to be one of lucky ones to get drawn on my first try, didn't happen. I'm thinking about doing the OTC elk tag. I know chances of harvesting an elk are slim, but I know how many I'll shoot if I don't go at all. It'll be my first time hunting elk, so willing and eager to learn as much as I can. Wanted to check in a see if anybody is willing to team up for this, or if anyone has some pointers that has done it before. Would love to have a crack at one with my bow, but not opposed to rifle hunting. Also, if you're hunting close to Flagstaff and need an extra set of eyes or help packing out, feel free to reach out. I was in 7 yesterday evening and nada. Going to start venturing out into 6, chasing them with a bow and otc tag.

Appreciate the info, I believe you and I had exchanged emails about the hunt a few weeks ago.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, and I'll start researching that this weekend. My only concern is with job, working in collegiate athletics, not sure if I can string enough days together to make the trip out to CO worth it. I'm more so looking to take my first elk, not worried about the trophy status, but really want to stock the freezer. The AZ tags are appealing because the units are close in proximity to Flag so I can sneak out in the morning or the afternoons depending on the schedule. If there are some opportunities during late November or December, those would my bets to be able to get out there.

Just had some samples of WA delivered to the weight roomm today, will give it a try once I'm done with my current supplements.

My fiancé will marinade them and cut them into cubes. Throw them in the fondue pot with some peanut oil on skewer for 60sec or however you want it cooked.

They are creatures of habit. I've never used a call for them, just patterned them out and throw some old snow goose rags that I painted grey. I've had pretty good success over the years with it.

Awesome job! We've got them on our place back in Texas, father in law is out there this weekend scouting. Can't wait to knock a few down in 2 weeks.

Here's my little man, Bowen. Anxious to get him on his first retrieve in AZ. Had a good laugh watching him drag that sandhill crane back to me last season. I'll have my gear here in 2 weeks, ready to throw some steel in the air!
