whats even crazier is a few years back there was 1200 tags total for that unit(rifle youth etc etc) thats not counting archery OTC tags, we found deer everywhere when scouting for my daughters friend youths hunt. then during archery season we were hunting yotes and saw bucks everywhere. there is something about that unit that has a ton of deer, especially the buck to doe ratio. most bucks we seen were right off major roads they basically jumped in front of us. we turned a few kids and there dads onto them. I hunt yotes there all the time cause its close and always see bucs year round. if you hunt in the hills its rough. took us 3-4 hours just to get to one small herd of bucks one very nice 4x4. it was less than 1000 yards away as the crow flies but the hills and cliffs were steep. daughter got to with 60 yards of it one day and couldn't get a shot. another day she walked right by it 20 yards. never saw it as the other bucks were 80-100 yards away. I was glassing from the other hill side and guiding her in. heck we even went out and got push to talks after a week of that. We watched the bucks for a few weeks, climbing straight up a hill in which we couldnt even stand with out sliding down. A week before it closed a few years back a guy wacked a nice one with his bow. definitely fun times in that unit lots of deer. we found most of our deer by calling in yotes before the season, heck we were in the flat jashua (sp)tree area calling yotes and had deer coming in or we see them walking off.

She's hoping her Uncle is getting her a F-35, she wants to work on those cause she made parts for them here at my shop a few years back.

I usually make one of the kids stick there finger in it, if its warm its worth chasing and we have a chance of finding them. if its deer/elk have them take a bite if its chewy there close by. if its crunchy forget it. its somethign they will never forget

its been a while since I saw her with that big a smile, she sent me the pic below the other day of her in her flack jacket and kevlar with her m 16 thats looks at big as she is. . tuesday she finishes MCT training. she got her orders today . going to fla Wednesday for aircraft training .jet mechanic got changed from enlisted flight crew and thats what she wanted was jet mechanic org. she is super excited , I am hoping like heck she gets stationed in Yuma. its really cool to be able to talk to her again. during the 13 weeks of boot we just got letters.

yes a 4x4 would be best but heck in all honesty a 2 wheel drive will get you to the deer in alot of places. if you have a side x side take it dont beat your truck up on the rocks plus it outs you in a bad mood.

Personally I would sleep at the casino off I-17 and hunt from there, but thats just me.

Ok heres the deal, IDGAF has had 3 of the best hunt adventures on this website or any website for that matter I have ever seen even hunttalk in the early years. I'll throw in $150 for drinks and or dinner or what ever it would take to get this guy some help(if he wants the help) finding this bull wether its found alive or not. or it goes directly to IDGAF for is mount fees for his lion.

I dont think it went to far, I am guessing its in the same general area(within a mile but thats alot of ground to cover looking for a dead or near dead critter).. more than likely dead or very close to. from day one those elk didnt move that much so hes there. if you didnt see any blood signs in the snow that's what I am figuring.

cool vid , not many people have a pic of a lion they shot running away a video of said lion getting wacked and the lion it self. FANTASTIC. let alone pics of an incredible couple of days in the field with many many bull elk. keep it up. you going to quit if it starts snowing, something tells me those pictures and the story would be beyond EPIC.
