Azelkhunter. didnt read the story till today then read the post below. your story is a typical dad story about getting turned around. my father did that alot when we were hunting as well. always had a good outcome. Glad you got to spend time with your Father outdoors before he got to sick whether you killed something or not you will always remember the good and bad times you had together. I lost my Father about 8 years ago we always had a great time outdoors when I was a kid even if we had arguments or I got in trouble before a hunt fishing trip or camping trip he always asked if I wanted to go NEVER FAILED. funny cause until we hit our 40's we dont realize how cool out fathers are. we did lots of hunting and fishing together and it was funner the older we both gotten. One thing I would recommend is talk to your father about everything and anything you felt like you should say, A friend of mine told me this Before my fathers Passing and I didnt worse feeling you will ever have. I tried just couldnt find the right words, and I think he knew what I was trying to say but always changed the subject and smiled. Funny cause all I wanted to say was.. Dad we had good times and bad times ,whether we got in arguments and we got pissed at one another or I screwed up and you beat my butt, I would have never have changed anything in my life. wish you and your family the best. Naw dude I'm still old fashion coming out of the closet is for people who need attention but back to the deer that you made your assumptions on like others here. there are many scenarios that could have caused that. shot at deer while it was laying down and missed the spot. looking at a picture cant give you the exact details of how it was shot with what and by what range.you can speculate all you want but thats it. most are only guessing on the obvious ones. those who said hey it happens usually don't rush to judgement on a picture and give people the benefit of the doubt.

one of the many reasons there should be a time limit on editing posts and deleting images. Only SUSANS need to do that. Why the F would someone remove the picture and the text in the post. something tells me there is alot more to this story than what was posted. a deer got stuck in the wrong place who cares shoot happens, it sucks but it happens and no one knows what happened except the shooter the poster either knew who the shooter was, and removed it or he was the shooter, or someone pm'd him crying about it.

On the bright side this is one buck that can tell all his deer friends that he had in fact been shot at and survived this hunting season as he has proof all the others are dock talk until they can prove it.. Delw

Weather is just that weather. been in this state since 82 seen it dry wet dry wet numerous times funny thing the elk and deer growth was always there. every year this state puts out pigs. only thing I noticed was the prarie dog population dipped but I think that was due to be and a few friends going out every weekend for 5 years and making balistic jelly. you girls worry to much,

Best way to find deer in the desert units are to do lots of yote hunting, find a small hill that over looks a flat and start calling any time of the day or year. when I first moved to az in 1982 all I did was yote hunt in the deserts cause I didnt believe there was deer in them. wow was I wrong all my late deer hunting(dec-jan) for the 1st 2 years was in unit 23 or north 21 in the pines sometimes crown king. now we can go into the desert with out seeing deer when yote hunting. usually see more deer than yotes

if your on the west side of phoenix I would hunt the west side from i-8 all the way up kingman along grand ave lots of really nice bucks in there. unit 21 22 23 are like a community bar looking for the one fat chick.

Those savages are unbelievably accurate. I have one of the 1st production runs of the 243 striker. tons of p-dogs with it out to 300 yards, yotes are kinda tough but I did manage to get one. also nailed a unit 12b mulie at 30 yards, through a javilina over the cliff by hitting a rock and launching it into the side of it, a texas dall ram around 100 yards with it back in the early 2000's , then put it away and havent shot it yet since. I run the old GTD( Glass Tapered dot) tasco pistol scopes on it. I have them in 2 4 and 6 power. I generally run a 2x. I have found it better for all around hunting unless long range stuff then I use the 6x. but using a 6x at under 100 yards is tough on a psitol. I like that bipod idea I may have to try that, i usually use a tree, rock with a jacket or the side of my leg as a rest you used to be able to find the Tasco GPDs on ebay and at gun shows as they discontinued them in early 2000's. they are probably the most easy to and clearest pistol scopes I have ever used, easy meaning they get on target quick and are super clear and bright. they hold up to 45-70 recoil all day long on my old contenders. never had one go bad. I have a few 4x leupolds and one burris I dont like them due to clarity. one of my leupold broke a reticle on a 30-30 super 14 I was into the old contender scene until they started making the savages.

Have him shoot 6's for about 200-500 rounds, it should loosen up take him skeet trap or sporting clays shooting with it, if it doesnt then you could have someone work it, deburr and polish it. usually its a spring change but sometimes just wearing/burnishing in all the parts so they slide nice, I like 7-1/2s for quail as well and I mostly shoot 20's been doing so since 1969 have a few 1100's I do have one crap semi auto that only likes fast loads but I bet I dont have 100 rounds through it in 30 years. my dads old browning auto 5 12 guage was like that had to shoot heavy loads then about 1-2 years later he shot light loads out of it. but we shot tons of skeet and trap
