I think its both, a Trophy is in the eye of the beholder. you can usually tell a trophy by the pictures that people post, its not how big the animal is its how big there smile it. Iv'e seen tons of older guys with trophy smiles on spikes 2 points 3 points etc I can hunt everyday of the year in this state. lion yotes, archery deer has 3 seasons bear is over the counter. except for yotes who wants to hunt in june and july in the heat? exactly

It does? There is a ranch with a house and a barn I would say 3 miles away other than that I would say 20 miles from any other houses. That I know of. Hey browtine was this buck with in a few miles of some houses? I think I have a pic a buddy of mine took of him in velvet earlier this year, he'd been chasing him hard but never got close enough to get a shot. yours kinda looks like the one on the lower right

Oh yeah there was one unit 8 early rifle bull tag I got the same time as my last lope tag, which were the same dates but in different units unit 8 elk unit 9 lopes, I hunted a few hours in the am then drove to unit 9 everyday for the kids lope tag. had a few shots but nothing over 370 so I passed one was pushing close to 350 he was just a few feet away that a friend called in. I should have shot him but didnt.

Have you killed anything yet? other than yotes and fox's I havent pulled the trigger on a big game animal in15 years, as I been giving them to my kids, I had my fun. but this is the last year I can pass them along so after that the killing starts if I get drawn 2 12b tags 1 lope tag and 2 bull elk tags. and during archery deer I dont generally carry a bow just help them. but thats may change cause I am trying to go out in the next few days and the daughter is working.

Thats not entirely true while there are some "men" that should be in the kitchen a womens place is primarily in the kitchen She drew the 1st unit 8 tag, I drew the next 2 and gave them to her. so she had 3 chances in 3 years at a heck of alot of good bulls in range. the 1st 2 years she didnt shoot because she didnt like the shot(good call on her part) this year she missed twice cause they were too close and bigger than she thought and in her defense her bow was off a foot at 30 yards. Anyway a close friend of mine(on this board) told her that if she didnt tag one out this year she needs to stay in the kitchen where she belonged LMAO Besides I dont like elk hunting Ive killed enough of them in washington state, I like calling them in for other people for sure especially for kids.

it was all those guys leaving from archery hunting unit 6a since it opened. should be quiet for hunting this weekend sene alot of rockets from ca take off here in the west valley over the lat 30 years and a few from New Mexico. this by far was the coolest and most defined. we were leaving costco when it happened

One I 1st click on the thread to read this , I instantly thought of this movie and scene I have no idea why. other than its funnier than crap. one of the sadist days of my life is when the kids figured out there was no Santa Clause. But on the bright side one believed in the tooth fairy for another 3 years after that. cause I used to sprinkle(car paint hi-light powder) fairy dust n her room LMAO

I know this is a chevy and only 16" wheels but I ended up going with Nitto grapplers. Ran michelans with 70k warranty since 2005 and the last 2 sets only lasted 1.5 years each set and we only put about 12k a year on the truck. plus these were a ton cheaper than the michelans and everyone said they will last longer. I dont know the wheel name but they were pretty cheap. I had to adjust the front end about 2" to level it out so the tires didnt rub. They run really nice and are quiet, track really well to.

LMAO thats what you think. My daughter was about that age too when I figured the same thing. Last 3 seasons Dad carries everything except her bow. she even bought a camel back and never used it. kids are always one step ahead of you. I hear ya on that one, we always had an escape plan. pack up what you need and then when you kill something bury the stuff and come back and get it later. did that twice in Kaibab and once in matazels, just never went back to get the stuff in matazels. buried food, water garbage bags blanket and a few odds and ends

That's a nice piece! While it certainly would be nice to shed that 13 pounds, it's not necessarily the driver for my second guessing the plan. I'll actually be humping my lightest pack of this season. This hunt will be a little more on the casual side since I'll be bringing my 9yr old son in with me. He's turning into a great little glasser, but I'm not putting a ton of weight on pushing long hard days like I normally would if I were on my own. So my plan and thinking has been to spend some time doing a little still hunting for deer and then also some time sitting a few familiar spots to glass for bear.. thats cool your kid will have a blast, if you got a .223 take it and try to call in yotes and vamits also, your kid will love it breaking up the hunt like that.

in the 30+ years I been bow hunting this state I have never had a game warden say a word about it. been checked a few times, both driving and walking down the road back to the truck. with a 22 mag(pistols and rifles) that I used to use for yotes and fox's I was told thats not a good idea while bow hunting. Now with all hill monkeys and drug runners, meth labs and just weird people out in the woods and desert I carry something with maximum capacity and range while bow hunting for 2 reasons I go out alone or with my Daughter.
