Jaguar was caught by houndsman Sewell Goodwin from Patagonia. Red shot the cat. The whole story is in a book called Borderland Jaguars. Good read

I also saw the buck Lance is reffering too I witnessed him on the hoof and taking a dirt nap. Everyting he claims and more. I expect the hunter is saving pics for a magazine article. Congrats to the hunter. You know who you are and what it takes to "geterdone".

Tough go in the spring for a few reasons.
1. Their pads are soft and they don't travel much.
2. They have not built up the enzymes in there stomach in order to digest meat. They are mostly eating grass.
That being said I am sure that if you were in the vicinity calling at some point one would come in. Calling is like Nascar everyone wants to go watch the race just to see the wreck.

I hunt dogs and I guarantee you the success rate is way lower with dogs vs. spot and stalk. I have killed 3 bears all boars 2 were toads all with my bow. 2 were spot and stalk/calling one was from a treesatand all in Arizona. I have never harvested a bear with my own dogs. I have let about 1/3 of the bears treed walk because they were too small. That is one advatage to dog hunting. I have helped a couple youth hunters take bears with dogs and it would have been impossible for them to spot and stalk. They are hooked for life. Get some dogs spend 12k a year on dogs and equipment and then come back and tell us how much easier and less sporting it is. Start bashing hound hunting for bear with dogs, lion hunting with hounds follows suit and them bird hunting. All the anti's want to do is whittle away at us one small vistory at a time . They rely on mis- informed tools like you to help their cause.

Wow .....a non sportive hunter....People like you are the very reason PETA and H$U$ get a foot hold and chip away at our hunting as stated before they are not selective at what hunting they want ALL HUNTING and for that matter ALL PET OWNERSHIP abolished and your elitist attitude is the very red carpet they love to work on as you are a wedge from with in ......
WELL SAID!

I have the first rifle in unit 27 and I am trying to figure out my best route. Should I go up to Sonoita on 82 across to 90/Sierra Vista and then down thru Bisbee to Douglas? Any help appreciated.

Lightning jack is a sound you can purchase from fox pro and down load. It is a jack rabbit distress sound. I think it works really well on all game. I have had numerous whitetails come in to it also.
I like to use Lance as a decoy

Circe's work also this bear was 19 8/16 dry. Shot at 17 yards

fox pro called in 8/23/11 20 8/16th green used fawn distress followed by lightning jack. Shot at 8 yards with a bow. Be advised you can't put a bear in p&y or b&c if you use a electronic call.

I could never imagine drawing that tag in a million years. Looks like a great place to hunt elk.

I know I am escouting and I don't come on here that much but here it is. I got really lucky and drew a leftover early archery bull tag in 5A. I have never hunted that unit b4. any tips etc appreciated. PM me if its better. I could help with southern deer units in exchange. Thx!
