  1. Hey guys I'm throwing a worm out to see if I can find an outfitter who is interested in utilizing a scout/guide  . This is my favorite unit to hunt/scout/shed hunt in. I usually go in 2-3 times a month on 1-3 day pack trips. Everyone keeps telling me to try and supplement my income with my abilities/ skills/ knowledge of this wilderness unit. I live in 3B so have my local knowledge here as well. If anyone knows an outfitter I would greatly appreciate some contact info. I'm 25 and am looking to start a lasting and successfull guide/outfitter relationship with a local outfit instead of hireing on with U.S.O, the nationwide Outfitter my Dad guides with. Thanks. I can provide World class Elk, Trophy archery/rifle for both Mule And Coues Deer, & Trophy Black Bear, with or without dogs ;) . Thanks again.

  2. How long does a mineral lick have to be in the field before deer start using it? I placed one in my hunt area after several people recommended them 2 weeks before my hunt. I never saw a deer at it, as a matter of fact, I watched 3 does walk within 50 yds of it and they never even lifted their heads as they walked along.

I passed on several small bucks looking for something bigger. Saw a few of those (shooters) but only briefly-couldn't connect. Maybe I'll do better in New Mexico next week.

I have found that some licks get hit harder than others. The ones I have had the best luck withh are in red soil that is kind of hard. I think the red dirt has some natural minerals in it already. Be advised that there is no baiting allowed in NM and salt would be considered baiting. You are cool in AZ though. Good luck!

  3. Thank you ThomC, that's what I was gettin at.

I agree Breezy, every deer hunter should get a few hound pups and teach them to track lions. heck, just turn em loose in good deer country and they're lion dogs in no time, from what I hear.

all you gotta do is find a pack of lions

    Does anything eat Javalina.

Lions love Javelina! One of the lions form the pack will marinate the pig in bbq sauce. Another member of the pack will boil the pig in the sauce. While this is happening another one of the lions will dig a pit bbq. The whole pack of lions will wrap the pig in burlap and then bury the pig in the pit . After that the pack will leave the stink pig in the hole and they all eat the sauce.

  4. This is a true story. I was riding my mule in 36b over the wknd minding my own business. I happened upon a small unoccupied UDA encampment in a mesquite thicket. I was creeping along on my trusty steed on guard for any suspicious activity when all heck broke loose. My mule had stepped on a empty tuna can that was left behind as a booby trap! Let me tell you when tin cans get stuck in horseshoes it is going to get western. I lasted the full 8 seconds and the evil plot was foiled but my britches were soiled. My advice to everyone is if you see an empty tuna can duck and run baby.
